Why shouldn't it be quiet they don't have a sim yet!

I hope they can pull it off, but I'm definitely in "wait-and-see" mode. Another one I have high hopes for is Jet Thunder. At least with them you can see some screens and vids of WIP in-game stuff (for free no less).

Fighterops is definitely not dead, though the forums are a little slow. There are also montly screenshot updates with many different types of aircraft, buildings, and vehicles. Those are recent up to febuary of this year. There's a message saying there wont be any update for this month due to development priorities, so they are surely up to something. Below is a link to the screenshot area. I can't wait for another great sim :)

They may be able to realease an ambitious SIM but I sincerily doubt it will come this year. They havent yet even have a single terrain finished.

I say never before 2008. Thats for the kind of stuff they are aiming for.

Im realy enthused about the importance they are giving to the flight model, I hope it wont be too difficult to buy it.

It is sad, but I think you are right. These guys just hope to release demo, by the end of the year. Something tells me we have to wait for looong time yet:cry:

If they can get all that flight model, avionics stuff right, then I suppose it's worth the long wait. But I would like to add a point that maybe a year or two later the graphics tech could have advanced much, the models and terrain that they are showing now could be outdated.

The games graphical engine will be the same: that of the X-plane. Thats why they bough it instead of making one up from scratch.

Incorrect.

The graphical engine is made by us in-house and is being designed to take advantage of dx-10 graphics.

hmm, then what did FO buy from the X-plane engine? :D

To be honest, I dont give a damn about the graphics. Those of X-plane is good enough for me for years to come. It only needed to fully use up dual CPU's and T&L of GF's to show lots of polygons to show sky scrapers in cities for example. I am not sure how a graphics engine could be adapted to keep up with the directX API externaly with DLL though, so Im specualting a bit here.

This comment of mine comes a bit of my frustration with the fact that since the G-force 256 they promised live worlds with thousands of objects in screen :robot: but appart form the DEMOS they provided I have never seen it realy happen, and now they say we need a physics card for the very same things...

Ok..I must be dumb or something...Can someone explain how a "company" can pay staff for four years (my wild guess at total developement time for f-ops)

to produce a flight sim for a quite small market that goes out at 50-100 dollars

and only sells in the thousands?...none of this adds up to me

tbh lockon doesnt add up to me either

oo err...missus:animals_bunny:

I don't think the staff will get paid until they sell the first release. Its good that they've decided to do a global map as there is alot of possibilities for an aircombat sim that uses global scenery.

I think thats over optimistic unless they realize they must cut down the area covered by the SIM. It took years before the Micropsorse team could make properties for all the roads and military buildings existent in Korea.
