doodenkoff Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 haha a russian huey! and temp was fine, battery start is really slow so i used ground power to start huey. I did flights in F5 UH1 F86 P51 M2k L39 and no problems anywhere. Ice does form really fast tho so make sure to turn on before takeoff. And the pressure wasnt a problem either, local altimeter 28.33 set everything just fine. I also saw some Ka50s doing damage so I dont know if they had any problems to report either. You didn't notice a faster than normal descent rate in the L-39? I flew my normal approach into Gelendzihik last night and found myself nearly skimming the waves before I noticed how fast I had dropped. Clear weather power and AoA settings were woefully inadequate to maintain a good glide slope. Got me to wondering....is ice buildup modeled as far as increased weight? Mirknir Posted October 3, 2016 Author Posted October 3, 2016 (edited) Mirknir plz What the what? I can't do more than the integrity check.... Or maybe its because the server is not yet updated to the very last version. Edited October 3, 2016 by Mirknir Mirknir My old server: The Thread
acdelta57 Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 You didn't notice a faster than normal descent rate in the L-39? I flew my normal approach into Gelendzihik last night and found myself nearly skimming the waves before I noticed how fast I had dropped. Clear weather power and AoA settings were woefully inadequate to maintain a good glide slope. Got me to wondering....is ice buildup modeled as far as increased weight? hmmm it might be, I feel like i was getting better performance in the cold weather (as it should be) but it is very possible its modeled as weight. What you described seems like ice accumulation. Were you running all anti-ice equipment? Recently all airspeed indication were off in precipitation until the last update. Perhaps now you are flying at correct indicated speeds and your power settings dont match as the bug was in excess of 30kts on the L39 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]1000 miles of road will take you around town, a 1000 feet of runway can take you around the world...unless your in a Huey, you can go anywhere with no runway in a Huey! multiplayer name ''DustOff=3=6''
doodenkoff Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Were you running all anti-ice equipment? The panel showed "de-icing on" just under the ice warning, so I assumed it was as on as it could be. A quick spin through the flight manual shows that's what I should expect if the de-icing systems are operating. I'm going to go with the bug you mentioned. I had not noticed it before...although I don't normally fly in really inclement weather. Win 10 | i7 4770 @ 3.5GHz | 32GB DDR3 | 6 GB GTX1060
acdelta57 Posted October 3, 2016 Posted October 3, 2016 Pitot heat? "De icing on " refers to engine bleeds which is controlled by the circuit breaker switch on lower right switch panel (which clearly you had turned on) Pitot heat are two square buttons on the left panel that illuminate green when activated and they must be activated manually, there is no associated EICAS light) if they were also on then yes I would conclude it was just do to the previous bug. Too bad I won't be on for the rest of the week but I am always down for L39 wingmen to attack ground targets. Shes a module that I just can't ignore for some reason, something that keeps drawing me back in! Also cross country next weekend most likely for all trainer/light attack aircraft! doodenkoff Posted October 4, 2016 Posted October 4, 2016 Ya' know what? I did not specifically turn on pitot heating. That would explain the bad airspeed indication. It's hard to not fly the L-39, isn't it? I think it's a fun plane...although I cannot figure out how to do a barrel roll in the thing. Win 10 | i7 4770 @ 3.5GHz | 32GB DDR3 | 6 GB GTX1060

bertOC Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 Open Conflict - Winter Wonderland It was a quiet and peaceful morning on OC, perfect for some fast deliveries! Unexpectedly, I managed to takeoff and land at the first try and first flight of the day, some time gotta be the first time I guess. The green smoke was odd though, never had it before in an express delivery aircraft. F10 and a look above me revealed why someone popped smoke. He was flying a very wide and slow approach though, so I shut down my engine and waited. Don't know if he just picked up the pilots or just flew around, but he sadly didn't bring the ammunition this place still needed. After standing around for five minutes he then took off, so I did the same. Gears and flaps up, no problems, so I looked at the Mi-8 traveling away in the other direction. At this point I thought that my sound bugged out, because I could not hear any engine sounds as soon as I turned my head. Nope, looking to the front again I noticed that my propeller stopped turning, and stood still in mid air. :helpsmilie: The inevitable crash followed too fast to take screenshots, and ended up killing the pilot. It would be nice to know what caused this, maybe shutting off the engine, maybe the cold air, maybe Barthek. :music_whistling: The beautiful mission, objectives, and weather make this server a ton of fun to play, and I hope that my bushpilot wingman NASA will be back soon, so he also can enjoy it. :) Have you thought about bringing back dynamic weather to OC Mirk? Now that it has been gone for a while I really start to miss having tricky landings in multiplayer. :pilotfly: Sure, unexpected crosswind can really mess with your plane, but only because you're not anticipating it. :smartass: See you guys on the weekend hopefully
acdelta57 Posted October 6, 2016 Posted October 6, 2016 It's always Barthek! Looks like a fun time tho. Itching to get some warbird/L39 flights in tomorrow evening and Saturday. +1 for the dynamic weather return request :) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]1000 miles of road will take you around town, a 1000 feet of runway can take you around the world...unless your in a Huey, you can go anywhere with no runway in a Huey! multiplayer name ''DustOff=3=6''

cosmicdoubloon Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Is it just me, or has the TS been missing a lot of the regulars recently? Life gets in the way sometimes unfortunately. As much as I would love to spend all my time downing cocky F-15 pilots in my ground pounders, other priorities have to come first sometimes. I know dust has been away working this week, I've been busy with work, NASA is moving house, but rest assured I'm sure most of the gang will be on this weekend  [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Pocket Sized Posted October 7, 2016 Posted October 7, 2016 Has there ever been talk of adding an A-10 compatible tanker? There is a KC-135 but it's going 370 kts True airspeed, while the A-10 tops out at 350 kts. If there was one at less than 15,000 ft and ~270 kts TAS that would work perfectly. DCS modules are built up to a spec, not down to a schedule. In order to utilize a system to your advantage, you must know how it works.

Mirknir Posted October 8, 2016 Author Posted October 8, 2016 (edited) Awesome! Gonna test it thoroughly :pilotfly: Does a frozen ass feel more or less Gs than a warm one? :) On an unrelated note, I am considering freezing AI CAPs respawn in some conditions, not sure which ones tho. Ideally when the server is kind of full and both team are kind of balanced... I also don't want this feature to trigger/untrigger all the time so I would need a threshold like over 20 players to trigger and under 15 to untrigger. I have plenty of ideas to implement this but I am not decided on any yet. I am taking suggestions if you guys have miraculous ideas :) It could be per team freeze or global freeze. Some events like killing a medic helis could also force a respawn :) I feel like trying new stuff with AI caps, as usual, I don't have an ETA lol Edited October 8, 2016 by Mirknir Mirknir My old server: The Thread
Oceandar Posted October 8, 2016 Posted October 8, 2016 I think that's a brilliant idea regarding the AI. Freeze the respawn when alot of fighters but unfreeze it when it less. Please make it so, Mirknir. Cheers Gam Zeh Ya'avor - King Salomon Mastering others is strength. Mastering yourself is true power. - Lao Tze
bertOC Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Yeah I also think it's a great idea if there are good triggers for freezing/unfreezing respawn. Not having this switch on and off in a few minutes will be the challenge as you said. One trigger could be the "Your team has an advantage/disadvantage" message in the conflict zone status menu, but I also could imagine having a vote about ít with a chat command.
FiftyCalTalons Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 I had a thought while Mid-Air refueling a minute ago. Would it be at all acceptable/possible to move the tankers further into the conflict zone maybe? As it stands for Red and Blue sides, their respective tankers are orbiting off shore next to most of their airbases, so usually its easier for players to just go to the airbase where they can rearm as well. That being said, say that in this instance of the server the Red Tankers were moved to orbit around the top left of the DJ Grid, and they Blue Tankers were moved to the EH grid, then it would give players a reason to use them. They'd fly to the conflict zone, and if they didn't find anything they could head to the tankers to refuel instead of all the way back to base (or all the way back to the tankers as they are in this case). The tankers themselves could be invincible, while they fighters refueling could still be engaged. This would create a need for wing men to watch one another while the other was vulnerable to attack.
acdelta57 Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 I've had some successful sorties with mid air refuel but this is only if you time it right and the tankers were as far out on their route as possible. I like their voulnerability but I would agree as to move them every further into the zone since they are supposed to be on "effective" tanking routes in Touapse map [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]1000 miles of road will take you around town, a 1000 feet of runway can take you around the world...unless your in a Huey, you can go anywhere with no runway in a Huey! multiplayer name ''DustOff=3=6''
FiftyCalTalons Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 Yeah, its more for te red team as well They're tankers orbit right off the coast near their airfields. Blue team can use them if the timing is right and your plane is spawned in Anapa, but then you can usually divert to one of the northern airfields. I managed to link up with one on my way to one of the fleet targets, but by the time I was done refueling I was back up on the north side of its loop near the airfields and essentially lost all my progress.
