Hi,

It should be possible to change the color in the drawing

\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\A-10C\Cockpit\Resources\Model\Textures\A_10C_C_EDM_TEX.zip

In the zip file you will find the drawing file "A-10C_devices_02.dds" with the pointers

DCS A-10C Skin Tutorial - 476th Virtual Fighter Group

http://www.476vfightergroup.com/downloads.php?do=file&id=249&act=down&actionhash=guest

Some time ago I made first tiny steps with skin`s

Converting

You need a software to open a *.dds file for to save it as *.bmp

Repaint the pointers in the *.bmp with e.g. MS Paint

Open the *.bmp and save it as .dds

Replace the "A-10C_devices_02.dds" with the new version in A_10C_C_EDM_TEX.zip

I used Paint.NET (freeware) for *.dds to *.bmp and *.bmp to *.dds

There are different options for "SAVE as *.dds" ( try and error )

The new *.dds should have the same size as the original *.dds

Another freeware for converting seems to be DXTBmp

Updates and DCS-repair can replace "your" modified A_10C_C_EDM_TEX.zip

Edit #######

Pic 1 Opend *.dds and saved as *.jpg with IrfanView - does not support DDS

Pic 2 Opend *.dds and saved as *.bmp ( *.jpg for upload ) with DXTBmp - what a difference

Updates and DCS-repair can replace "your" modified A_10C_C_EDM_TEX.zip

You could just place modified texture in an unzipped folder named A_10C_C_EDM.

Also, the colors are just for personal reference? In the real A-10C they are white.

Hi,

Thanks for the tip with the unzipped folder

I guess @rokomah wants to have a better visual distinction of the pointers

From the distance I have sometimes the same problem - what is what ?

Very... ehm... Colorful. But looks nice :)

But I personally like the plain white/original HSI more.

Yes, please post your mod so everyone can benefit from your work. I agree that the colors really add to your SA when you look quickly at the HSI.

Unfortunately, I have a problem.

When use "FLT INST" , I get this:

hsi4.jpg

Probably due to inadequate opening .dds files.

I do not know how to solve the problem :( .

Help please.

p.s.

I opened .dds files with Photoshop + NVIDIA Texture Tools for Adobe Photoshop

Alpha layer problem.

How are you saving it?

The only way to make sense out of change is to plunge into it, move with it, and join the dance.

Thank you very much GeorgeLKMT, working !!!

I have one more question:

Where I can find this button (ILS power on/off) for graphics editing (the lower part of button not the upper part)

in the attachment are two files if anyone wants to have a colored HSI needles:

- A-10C_devices_01.dds

- A-10C-buttsw_01.dds

Put this two files:

\Eagle Dynamics\DCS World\Mods\aircraft\A-10C\Cockpit\Resources\Model\Textures\A_10C_C_EDM_T EX.zip

...and replace the old one with the new into A_10C_C_EDM_TEX.zip

I don't know where it is and I'm not going to spend the night looking for it, but I can tell you what I usually do. Make a new layer and fill it with color. Every texture with different one. Then look what color is that part on the model and you know where to look. And if you narrow the search to just one texture and you still don't know where it is exactly on it, divide it to a bunch of colored squares. ;)

In photoshop just add a new layer and colour it save it and have a look, if it's the same colour then it's on that map.

If you looking for something and you don't know where it is, paint every texture in different colour (or paint one, test, then another... that's up to you). Then, if you see a part you're looking for in pink (for example), you know it's somewhere where you painted pink. ;)

Same thing if you know on which texture it is, but don't know where exactly... then you just divide it to a bunch of coloured squares.

Is it possible that the ILS power on/off button somewhere else rather than in A_10C_C_EDM_T EX.zip file?

In this .zip file we have A-10C-buttsw_01.dds, only _01. Can't find _02 or other. Maybe are elsewhere.
