+1. Being able to edit key binding in multiplayer is a must for me.

I thought that will be one of the features of DCS World 2 (or 1.5), or am I wrong? The unified .exe should provide us this feature.

Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit

DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

Unfortunately no. Wags mentioned in one of his recent videos that the main problem is that changing the key binding requires a simulation to be paused which is a problem in multiplayer for obvious reasons. Although I still think it would be nice if they added this feature as a server option ("allow clients to pause the simulation" checkbox when creating server or something like that). This would be probably disabled on large public servers but when I'm flying on my private server with my friends I would enable it for sure so anyone can change their keys if they need to. So yeah, +1 from me, I'd like to see this feature implemented.

I just did a quick search on the forums, but I couldn't find anything about it. So, what I said might be wrong and my memory is messing with me :(

I'm curious, why does the game needs to be paused to change controls?

I don't know the technical details, but Wags mentioned this in one of his recent Q&A videos. Not sure which one of them exactly was it though. But everything is subject to change, says it right in his sig so I hope they figure it out.

So annoying , you sometimes need a key you didn't remember to bind after installing a new module (or doing a fresh windows/PC install).

not to mention just forgetting the keybinding for something.

He said it has something to do with the code, which to me sounds like it's something buried pretty deep and would require a lot of work to change.

Oh, ED, please, add at least this feature because that is really annoying.

It's not really that annoying if you're honest about how often you actually need to edit your keybinds.

I generally find once I've been using a module in a SP a dozen or so times and have practiced with the common systems then I don't really go back and change keys frequently. It's only initially there's a lot of back and forth.

Out of all the features I'd like to see added or improved, being able to alter keybinds in multiplayer is right down the bottom of the list.

Nice to have, but there's much more important things for ED to spend time on imo.

Maybe it is not annoying for you because of the way you play.

But I often teach less proficient friends on new aircrafts in MP. And often they realize midsession that they forgot to assign some important function to their joystick. Then it is really annoying :/

I would have really hoped this would come with the unified .exe, really it feels like something that should always have been there.

I'm trying to hook one of my brothers into DCS and in the last try he refused to configure controls properly because he had to go to single player, etc.

It would have been great to conduct him to bind controls on the ramp.

I personally feel that it ought to be up to individuals to get their key bindings right BEFORE going on multiplayer.

Can you really see there being an advantage to anyone just pausing the whole mission so they can set up a forgotten key binding? What an incredible immersion killer for everyone! I can just hear the howls of protest within minutes of this facility being added.

Unless key bindings could be altered with the simulation running, then it is a deal breaker, and shouldn't be considered. Pausing your own mission to change stuff is fine, but expecting everyone else to sit there frozen in time while you get your act together is simply not an option.

Why not just send him your config file and give him a leg up that way?

What a manipulation of the topic. Do you work in TV debates?

and really that "the simulation must be paused"argument seems a bit weird. The simulation could always be paused localy to the player rather than the whole server.

I mean most other games/simulations don't seem to have a problem with that ... The way DCS is coded must be quite quirky if this is that hard to do.

No, but if the technology precludes the original request then it is a perfectly valid and pertinent point, don't you agree?

The technical reason we can't have multiplayer key mapping changes is down to the fact that unless the game is paused, you cannot make the key changes. Therefore, unless you elect to include an option to make key changes by pausing all the play for everyone in multiplayer, then you can't have multiplayer key mapping.

Which would you prefer? To disrupt multiplayer missions by pausing whenever someone decides he needs to re-map mid game, or to put this one on the back burner?

How my friend, is that not relevant to the discussion? I think you simply missed the point that was made by Wags didn't you.

What i don't get is, WHY you have to pause the game to change the keybindings?

Just let it run, if you crash your fault for setting up keys while flying.

Really i don't see why multiplayer has to prevent anyone from changing keybindings.

DCS is the only game i know of for who it is a problem and i cant see why, pausing the whole server is not needed.
