I got a pretty big FPS bump with it, I'd guess about 40% increase on average. The big thing is the minimums though. On a simple test I did in 1.2x today, I got 42 fps minimum sitting on the ground at Batumi in the MiG-15 when looking over at the town. The minimum in the same mission in 1.5 beta is 60 fps. Flying around, the change is similar. I used to bottom out in the 40's, now I bottom out in the 60's (just flying around, nothing going on). This is on max detail without grass/bushes, 2x MSAA at 1080p. My specs are in my sig.

And of course, that bump in performance comes along side much improved lighting effects and improved ground textures too. So more detail and more FPS. Can't complain about that.

I have had a few crashes in the 2 hours of play, but that's to be expected.

Tried a mission with some objects. Sadly, performance is not much better. Place ~30 static planes at an airbase with no AI. Frame rates will still drop below 20. A few Grads launching rockets all impacting in close proximity still results in sounds going away.

I was hoping the engine would have allowed larger scale battles, but it does not seem like anything changed. :(

I could write several paragraphs here...

But frankly, it's MAGNIFICENT!!

Amazing how different the Black Sea Map looks and how much more life like everything feels. Totally exceeded my expectations (in spite of watching all of Wags videos/streams).

Truly remarkable work and all the modules I've tried have lots of great improvements. I'm about to try out the L-39.

Thank you to the entire ED team for the huge amount of work. This is by far the best computer program I have used! (and the UI improvements are very thoughtful and intuitive).

Can't say enough good things, thanks again!

Best,

Nick

I think some of us are just unlucky. The current build might not mesh with everyone's set ups. Having played around a bit more, I notice that things are actually better FPS overall, but a few things can go horribly wrong. For me, it's large cities. I can't fly over Tbilisi without taking notice of my FPS going haywire. I can fly over in 1.2.16 and only get a little FPS drop.

Things in the near future will probably be as they were when the auto update was first released, many small tweaks.

Nice. I will probably be moving to 4k this winter. Just have to decide how big. :D

I know this sounds weird but I use a Vizio 43 inch 4k tv as a monitor, works great, only 400 dollars. Video on my youtube channel showing it in my man cave.

Much better frame rates for me in the Mi-8. Smoke and wrecks used to be a killer. Much better now. I'm getting 133fps in the cockpit at the start of the instant action target practice mission.

Drops to around 40 at the lowest. It used to go down to 6 or so with rocket runs.

The rockey trails make aiming much easier now. And it is now easier to see enemies.

Good stuff.

I'm happy to report my experience is the same as many here.

Before the beta, my FPS would drop to the 30's while on the ramp with multiple aircraft around me. Now, in 1.5, I can be on the ramp with 3 F-15's and two A-10's immediately around me, taxiing, with NO loss in FPS.

I'm not sure of my exact average FPS in game, but I will say this: I play on a 144Hz monitor and it is buttery smooth. Easily in the 100's.

Oh, and yeah, the graphics are fantastic. Big upgrade for sure, even on the existing map. Great work ED.

Anyone using a GTX 660? I won't be able to be home to test it for another few days or so and I'm curious to know if I'm going to need to upgrade or not.

I also have an i7-3770, but I don't think thats too much a limiting factor now that the GPU handles more.

Can the ED team go to sleep now? :)

I have a 660M 2GB. No real issues so far besides flying near large cities.

It's a amazing increase across the board performance wise. I averaged around 60 fps in 1.2.6x and in the same missions in 1.5.0 i'm averaging 124 fps and no slow downs while at airports or over cities. Concidering it's the first day of beta and there will be some improvments made going forward we are really not going to have issues running Oculus when it is released

When I see what I got for free, I'm ashamed I had doubts about your ability to pull this one off. I mean it, really.

I'm blown away by 1.5 and when I realise this is just the beginning, my head starts spinning.

Thank you very much for this. Enjoy this moment, you can be very proud of yourself.

I feel the same. I was sure that 1.5 will be impossible to run with my current setup (i7 920 @ 3,5 and Radeon 5870 1Gb), but I almost DOUBLED my fps in most of the situations with all settings maxed out. For example, in Mi-8 free flight mission I am getting more than 40 fps in the ground, when before I was getting 17-18.

GREAT, GREAT JOB!!!!

Got to thank you splash, I too have been worrying about how my card will handle and if your 1GB 5870 handles it well, my 4GB 5870 should have no problems at all. :D

Same here, amazing performance. I love it. Checked out the editor yet? If only I had the Sat view in the editor back when I was building missions..

Only managed to get in the air with the P51D (the only module that would install for me yesterday) with everything maxed out (except anti aliasing which is at x4) shadows ultra, view distance ultra, vsync on. Im getting a steady locked 60FPS.

Gotta say this is only flying on my own. Need to do further tests with some AI traffic.

Downloaded L39 this morning, psyched to get into it and start learning. Now only if I could figure out how to start it up...;)

I can only add to the comments already made. I was expecting a huge step forwards, but even given that, I am totally blown away by the performance gains.

I do have a top end card - GTX 980 TI, but with internal views I am seeing 148 FPS, and although with the DoF on, external views slow right down - which is obviously something yet to be sorted by ED, I really didn't expect to be able to run all the settings maxed out and still get such a huge gain in performance.

It was while coming, but oh boy have ED served up an excellent package here. Thanks guys, you have excelled yourselves!!!
