Doesn't really matter at this point. Everyone complaining about this has the same problem. And my processor is still high end. No problems running other graphic intensive games at Max settings.

i7, 980. Only issue with the tgp is the flickering of buildings and seeing through buildings. In 1.5 it's definitely harder to spot objects...

So do I, and I dont have the issue, thats the real issue here.

Has anyone else from ED tested this issue? Maybe another tester or Dev might be able to replicate the issue.

Thanks,

Just to clarify please?

Are you saying nobody at ED, including yourself, sees any FPS drop at all when the FLIR is in use?

There are more posts in this FLR - FPS killer sub-thread than all the other performance sub threads combined. Hope something can be found to cure (or help) with this...

But half of them are yours :P

I am trying to find someone on the test team that has this issue... so far no luck, in the meantime you guys need to look inward to see if something on your end might be amiss...

Opps....just done a quick count to try and rebuke that comment and I've actually posted 11 times in here!!

I will keep trying my end as suggested.

Come on, really? Of course people posting in a "I have problems with FLIR and fps"-thread have "Problems with FLIR and fps"... That's a brilliant statement.

On the other hand we can assume everyone not posting here plus the people trying to help you, but can't reproduce the issue don't have the problem?

I you want this issue fixed, it might(!) be helpful to try find additional hints. Graphics card drivers version for starters.

Do you use Nvidia Experience?

3D-Drivers installed?

3-D in use?

Virusscan has an exception for DCS folder?

...and just for the records, other graphic intense 'games' may look more intense, but use artificial worlds, with fps optimized terrain features, views etc.

The whole GTA whatever "World" fits into the western part of Georgia...

You may want to take a tour through the Caucasus map from Anapa to Tiblisi in a Humvee to compare it to GTA or ArmA etc. :D

Ok just to make this quick. I run exactly the same computer settings and specs for the other DCS World versions with not one issue, thats with GTX 780, 16 gigs DDR3, I7-950 @ 3.65, and latest driver and basically the same settings . So now I'm in DCS 1.5 which visually is stunning but I have stutter problems using the flir and schval (spelling) and the weird see through vehicles bug. And no 3D or Occulous. I don't think there is much more to say. I understand that some people miraculously have no problems but a very large number are having them. I just wanted to let you guys know that I to am having the problem.

I posted on page 4 a video, now in that video I was running supersampling in CCC, but even in multisampling I'm dropping from 90 FPS to 55 FPS with both TGP & Mav running with TGP aft or in Foward positions. Granted I am running 2 AMD R9 270X 2gig card on crossfire. No matter if 1 card is OC to 1120MHz with 1400MHz MEM or both cards running at full speeds. And yes 3D is installed and running the latest AMD drivers. Even tested with the newest AMD Beta drivers. Seen a slight improvement with the beta drivers but it's very very small like 1 or 2 FPS. Obviously that's without VSYNC. With VSYNC I'm sure it's the same just not shown because vsync is locking the FPS at 60 so anything above 60 isn't shown. But once the TGP and MAV are on I drop from 60 to 55 FPS. Now also needs to be noted that that is on a mission with almost 0 activity other then the A-10C. On actual missions created by ED the VSYNC FPS drops to around 30 FPS at places. Which could be argued that it's the ingame rendering of new objects. Which is why I was testing on a basic testing mission. Which is also listed in this thread. The crazy part is that it isn't just 2gig cards that has this issue there are people with 4gig cards 2 8gig cards on crossfire. AMD and NVIDIA cards. I hope that it can be resolved. I've also tested other games all DX11 games the FPS is solid at 90 FPS on high and around 60 FPS on ultra. As for virus scanning, my scans are set for times I'm not flying. I'm NOT RUNNING OCULUS RIFT.

Quick thought: You do not happen to have "Depth of Field" activated, I assume? That usually kills performance on "any" rig... Just a vague idea, as you should have experienced fps hits right from the start after activating "DoF".

No "DoF" here...I knew that was a killer a long time ago. And that would affect fps at all times surely...not just when the FLIR was activated.

I'm no programmer but would seem logical to me that this issue would be related to the issues others have posted about regarding Shval?

I have a noticeable FPS drop on my system as well when utilizing either BHOT or WHOT FLIR modes with the A-10. I haven't tried the SU-25T FLIR Pod yet.

When using normal CCD i don't experience this frame rate drop. I'm utilizing 1024 res for displays.

No fancy NVidia inspector settings or anything like that.

I'm very surprised ED testers haven't noticed this. All three of me local DCS player-friends experience this.

So far all the testers that have checked it for me have not been able to reproduce this. How much video ram do you have on that 560?

OK. First of all, ED forums usually is really great and helpful compared to other game community and nobody thinks you make this up, or are just picky.

It just happens to be one of those issues that is a real pain in the bum and hard to identify.

So let's try to narrow this down.

Considering we have this issue on some nvidia GTX, as well as AMD/ATI Radeon rigs it is unlikely to be just a driver or inspector/nvidia experience setting.

As all testers don't have this issue, we can only try to find things all people (with the fps drops on FLIR) have in common and / or differences to systems of people that don't experience it.

I guess everybody tried to reduce the settings one by one and back to see if a particular setting/feature may show a relation to the issue?

As we don't have a crash, there is no log etc. that points to a root cause. So a methodical approach is our best chance to identify something related.

It would be cool if everybody who hasn't already, adds the specs to his signature (not to boast about his rig, but help getting an idea where to look in case of trouble, or whom to ask as he has a similar PC).

A few valuable info like 1024 resolution for MFDs, only in FLIR mode etc. is in the posts, so does everybody have similar experience (FLIR only)?

Any difference when changing resolution for MFDs?

How much video RAM?

Preload radius in combination with less than 2GB Video RAM?

Any similar virus scan or "Security suite" in use?

Anything else that is special or unusual about your PC setup or that you think may be related?

Can people having issues please post a track so I can try it, just to see if I can duplicate that way.

I posted a track earlier in the thread. Not the most thrilling thing to watch, but it was specifically to capture this problem.

I've added my rig details as requested.

Only thing I haven't tried from the above list is a smaller preload...so I'm on that now :)

Will let everyone know
