I hate the idea of software being forced upon people.

There is nothing wrong with being able to op out of spamming or installation of unnecessary bloatware.AGH.

I hated steam when it first came out(still do) because I realized it was the future of gaming/software distribution and DRM.

That's too bad because Steam is one of the prime reasons that the PC platform has surpassed consoles in the market.

Kudos to Valve. Unfortunately that doesn't make their EULA less obnoxious one bit.

Good, fast, cheap. Choose any two.

Come let's eat grandpa!

Downloading software without an EULA is called piracy.

If you want the convenience of digital delivery that's going to necessarily come with the restrictions that prevent the software from being stolen. Most people are ok with that.

I don't think a Eula has ever been written that prevented software piracy. They download the software and if it has a Eula they get that as well, not like they are going to read it and go - oh crap, guess I can not do this...

Perhaps you are thinking more of anti-piracy measures, like DRM, Starforce, etc... which while some can be a bit of a pain at times, they are getting better and I certainly have no problem with these anti piracy measures.

I still think ED/TFC should make DCS available with no DRM attached, possibly at GoG.

I'd be curious how the sales would develop (not that I have a clue how they look right now).

Admittedly, RPGs aren't quite comparable to Flight Sims, but CDP seems to have surpassed all expectations (most of all their own) with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (and deservedly so, it is an amazing game). Free of DRM, by the way to go.

Why on earth would they do that? So it can be pirated and Eagle Dynamics goes under. Yeah real good idea...
