not trying to ruffle any feathers but I cant get this thing to work. Copied the folder into the DCS folder as per the instructions and edited the file before doing the copy. Nothing happens at all when I turn on the night vision. Cant figure it out. looked through the whole thread but still dont see any simple instructions. If anybody can help me out I would greatly appreciate it

You on VR or headtrack? This works with TrackIR. Doing manually. Take my file

, unzip, open "Tacca's NVG mod 1.2.0" folder. Copy "Bazar" folder & drop into your main DCS folder. Back up before doing.

I did this, I did it successfully in the old version, but now the new version is still unsuccessful.

I dunno why it doesn't work for you guy's? Maybe try a repair? I'm out of ideas. This is from today, so it works.

Since the last update, moonlight makes a big difference. Try setting half or full moon, then the NVG's will work very well. This is not a FLIR.

I confirm this, 3/4 moon was too much for my test so I went with new moon next which is just impossible to use your NVG to see land.

I know in the original post, he says no way to change the color, but I'm wondering if since then, anyone has found a way.  As an example, the Ka-50 has white phosphorous, and the UH-1 has green.  Would be nice to be able to change other A/C NVGs to white and vice versa to simulate wearing different types in different airframes.

I fly and teach Military on ANVIS 9s IRL and we will not train guys initially if the moon is less than 30% or 30 degrees azimuth. You just don't see the ground in 8/8 dark until about 100'. The variation with moon illumination is correct but certainly a tad too severe from what I've experienced. In zero illum I should still be able to see enough to come to the hover. Workarounds?

  1. Use the taxi/landing/searchlights when close to the ground (legit but not tactical),
  2. Increase the gamma in your DCS Graphics settings (experiment 'til you get it - will probably require an example of what the minimum picture should look like - I get it; and that would depend on the goggs...   )
  3. Or set a date with just enough illum to be accurate.

I will have a play with it and let you know what I find. Another thing to keep in mind though...  the moon rises and sets, so picking a date for the moon is one thing, but a full moon will do you little good on the far side of the planet! A great iOS app for this (free) is simply called 'Moon' - with that app you can choose a date and time for the illumination you want. It will give you the percentage illumination and azimuth (negative figures mean the moon is over the horizon and not therefore visible)

I'll get back on what I can find. Hopefully an ideal min. illum for a MOST realistic rendition.

Thanks SO MUCH for this mate! Absolutely awesome. The ONLY Sim package that I am aware of that lets you fly appropriately on NVGs whilst peering under to a sharp instrument panel. I am so grateful!

OK. 30% would seem to be the minimum moon illumination for a good effect. Note that this has nothing to do with the mod! Even on zero illum the buildings, vehicles etc are perfect. Just the ground textures seem to blackout. In Helos you can use the Search light to good effect well before you can see the visible light, which is realistic - just pretend it is an IR search light 😆

Gamma only enhanced the issue, same as gain.

The app mentioned above works really well. I would recommend minimum 30% illumination and remember that cloudy skies will make a big difference too. Training? 30% and clear skies. Good luck and keep that head moving 👍

This entire thread is an abortion.  I'll bet nobody knows what's going on here.  If this gadget still operates ..the OP should completely revamp and simplify this.

Re did the whole first post to remove all the extraneous crap.

I believe that I have installed this mod correctly, but cannot figure out what key(s) are used to active the NVG in the F15?

Trackir4 using the latest Trackir 5 software, Win10 Pro [Creator Update] updated from Win7Pro Pro 64Bit, Intel® Core™ i5-2500 3.30 GHz 6M Intel Smart Cache LGA115 , GigaByte GA-Z68XP-UD4 Intel Z68 Chipset DDR3 16GB Ram, GTX MSI Gaming 1060 [6 GB] Video Card, Main Monitor 1 on left 1920x1080 Touchscreen Monitor 2 on right 1920x1080 .

AFAIK: mod or no mod - there are no NVGs for the F-15 or FC3 fighters. There is a way for ground attack FC3 planes.

Having not touched the mod (as in had it working full screen for ages) i now find that without amending the file as described, the mod has reverted to monocle only. Any ideas why?

This is broken with latest update 2.7.11.21408 @tacca could you please update it. IT is because the NVD_HDR.fx file, but I don't know how to fix it, even maybe that is not the culprit and only is another file that is loaded in that NVD_HDR File.
