You can jump from release to openbeta using a command line :

 

dcs_updater.exe update @openbeta

 

there is a great tutorial on the forums somewhere....

It is said in the changelog that it's only for openbeta.

 

force the update from release to openbeta, we've talked about it a few minutes before the version changed on the website :)

The command line isn't working to switch versions (unless it's rejected because stable and beta builds are identical or something), and the beta installer doesn't pull files from existing installation and doesn't allow for accepting/overwriting a copy of stable files in its folder.

 

Looks like it's gonna be a 15-gig download after all.

 

Edit - Command line solution is doing something now, must be on the cusp of release.
