Thanks for the video!

IIRC you said, that the position of the target in relation to the bullseye (bearing/ range) is also displayed. Where can I find this information on the radar screen?

Or do we have only the bearing/ range from our aircraft to the target?

Thanks in advance,

Fire

There's an IFF button, no implemented yet in beta IIRC

okey thanks for answer, so if I understand well, there will be a button to identify my target (locked) ?? or identify all treads on display ?

This has piqued my interest as well, actually.

Barring the basic, obvious, idea of IFF and the difference between radars; Is the IFF system in the Mirage similar in function, in DCS, to the F-15's? Or, as PiedDroit said, does it only work on pilot forced interrogation (i.e. a pressed button)?

In the real aircraft the stick's NWS on/off switch works as the IFF interrogator switch during flight.

The radar normally does not discriminate who is friend and who is foe. With the switch it interrogates and mark the contact symbols accordingly.

1- currently in DCS IFF is simplified. From electronic warfare point of view IFF transmission is not stealth at all. So it's always ask & reply. And air defense fighter are not asking continuously.

2- IFF don't tell who is foe*, it just tells who is friend with IFF transponder serviceable and turned on.

In 2003 a British Tornado have been shot down by US Patriot system because of IFF malfunction...

*During Vietnam war, some Phantom were equipped with a device named "Combat Tree" who triggered MiG IFF system. So it was effectively telling who was foe.

That's the exception which confirms the rule.

Here is another story of a friendly fire incident with F-15's shooting down two Black hawks. There was a combination of human errors (AWACS) and IFF equipment issues...

So if i understand correctly i won't be able to discriminate Friend from Foe when playing online because IFF is not implemented? Or will we have the simplified IFF from FC3 for the time being?

Go in close, and when you think you are too close, go in closer.

It is not implemented. Yet.

Than for my part i could wait another month for the Mirage to get this feature. Cause now it's pretty useless in Multiplayer if i can not even see friend from foe. Was looking forward to fly this on the 104th.. But now i have to wait till the IFF is ready otherwise i will be killing friendly's all over in Multiplayer. So there is seriously no place holder for this?

And we can not implement the tactic "Eyeball and shooter" cause that means we have to come so close to see the markings because all aircraft types are flown on both sides.

so its official that there will be no way to tell friend from foe untill a later update (when the IFF interegator is added)

If so, maybe then other people ie. on TS will respond to a Raygun callout? I had mir than enogh Blue on Blue accidents than i'd like just 'cause nobody will respond Buddyspike.... :D

No one is holding you back from waiting another month :)

If we don't have iff, then ill just play around with it and do A/G for a while..
