SUBS17 Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 I'm a real pilot - the Su25 basic and T have excellent feeling flight models. (My highly scientific input there, LOL :) ) I get the feel FO is being made out to be some kind of simming nirvana by some here - who in their right mind thinks it won't have numerous faults, just like any other sim ever released? Who thinks their own pet problems with it will be instantly attended to by the developers? Looking eternally forward to some mythical (at the moment), supposedly ultra hardcore product, when you have LO right here, right now......well, lets just say I'm enjoying moving mud in the Frogs, trapping in the Su33, etc etc.....right now. The main features of FO that I'm looking forward to are the UPT and the F-16, the F-15E will be the bonus to fly. (aircraft that can't be flown in lockon) Thats why those of us who are into those aircraft are looking forward to FO. The other side of the coin is the F/A-18 hopefully later on sometime. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
bflagg Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 In my newly discovered attitude adjustment....I can only say... LO sure looks good!!! Thanks, Brett
bflagg Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 This thread just gets stupider and stupider by the moment, you keep complaining about how Lock-On is full of bugs, and how ED doesnt take you seriously by fixing those bugs, well, what makes you think that Fighter Ops will be flawless? AGG.. your missing the point. .but all I can do while following my new Provincial Attitude Improvment Nexus program is say.... LO sure looks good.. and the flight model is just... by gosh...so real!!! Woot!! Rock ON! (sorry guys.. I just had to go there..) Thanks, Brett

bflagg Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Fanboys??... That’s complete BS I think you’ll be hard pressed to find a flightsim community that’s more self critical and understanding of the limitations of lockon than the members on these boards. pS. Anyone know if FO are going to have any Russian flyables? This question has been answered directly on FO forums.. but I cannot remember if it's a Area 51 question or not... so maybe Buckshot would respond..... Thanks, Brett
bflagg Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 No but I do hear people saying its going to be great because some of the developers took a flight in a t38.... it takes a certain type of person with years of experiance in a cockpit to actually give worthwhile feedback on an aircrafts performance..they call them test pilots..not game developers all these guys are getting out of there flight time is a big grin, they would do better just reading up on performance data Hi Crusty... Give Area 51 a shot and find out how wrong you are about this... Thanks, Brett
bflagg Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Constantly improve on which product? I have two ED products installed on my machine and from what I hear, ED is ignoring the problems that their products have. Only to make a new product to sell me. Goya!.. Long time... Still need me to go online and crash immediately when you get in the virtual Air so you can up your kill count? :pilotfly: Thanks, Brett
Cosmonaut Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 This question has been answered directly on FO forums.. but I cannot remember if it's a Area 51 question or not... so maybe Buckshot would respond..... Now that you mention it I think I remember reading something about FO’s future plans regarding Naval (F18 ) and Russian aircraft… I think your right I’ll check out the FO boards for info.. Cozmo. Dmut Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 can't you guys just swiftly move this discussion to FO boards? ;) "There are five dangerous faults which may affect a general: recklessness, which leads to destruction; cowardice, which leads to capture; a hasty temper, which can be provoked by insults; a delicacy of honor which is sensitive to shame; over-solicitude for his men, which exposes him to worry and trouble." Raploc Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 Why? why o why o why do some people need to kick the crap out of another GAME to feel good about the GAME they have or want to have. Why? And even if lomac and fc suck, did ED put a gun to your head so you had to buy both of them? No! Or did you think that LP came to my house flying a friggin F-16 and told me that if I did not buy F4:AF they would bomb the hell out of me? No! I spend more money going to a restaurant then I spend on games in a whole year, and the games will give me more bang for a buck. Will I ever buy FO? Maybe yes, maybe no. Will I ever buy BS maybe yes, maybe no. Some of you out there are pathetic, bitching about a $40 game get a friggin life you idiots.
Crusty Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 In all fairness Rap, isnt bitching about the game part of what a forum is for? I know...depends what you mean by bitching, but all the same...Ive heard worse oo err...missus:animals_bunny: ** Anti-Pastie**
GGTharos Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 I'm a beta tester so I see what's happening with BS - what happens beyond BS is my own (somewhat educated) guess: I'll say it right now: Things are moving forward, for LO, and for whatever the successor of LO will be. I can't give you details, but the amount of work done is immense - I know this from the testing assignements we're getting, and from doing the testing. In some cases, you might not even notice the improvements - but they ARE THERE, paving the way for the future of ED's products. Some of you don't like the delivery (ie. claims that things are not fixed, and that you have to pay for fixes, etc). Given that a lot of those 'fixes' are actually torn up and rewritten code AND that patches so far issued for bug fixing are more or less the same thing, what youa re paying for IS NEW TECHNOLOGY. Don't like it? Fine. But don't go pretending that all you're paying for is a bugfix. LO still has a long way to go: There are things planned to be done well past BS. The game won't be called LOMAC after that, but the name is about the only thing that will be dropped. All the stuff you've heard of so far, like WAFM, etc, will appear to some degree in the next project I'm sure; I think Tank Killers will likely feature WAFM, for example, and further ground AI improvement to say the least. The Fighter Project will probably see a DX10 engine (it would make no sense not to do this) as well as improved seeker modelling for missiles, I imagine, not to mention more advanced radar algos. What about clickpits and all that? That'll happen too - in case no one has noticed yet, it's the same as the AFM: Su-25/T got AFM in FC Ka-50 is AFM and clickpit with advanced systems in BS In Tank Killers, A-10 will get AFM and clickpit with advanced systems ... They're laying down the foundation for future work. You're not just buying a 'bug fix and a helo' ... get it? LOMAC's original release was a bust. It's a sad and unhappy thing, but ED is working hard to rectify things. And to emphasize: This sequence of events is what I think will happen based on things posted HERE IN THESE PUBLIC FORUMS, and not anything on the Beta forum. And hey, what about FO? Sure, I'll get that too ... why would I miss out on a cool sim? But I'll be getting BS undoubtedly, and Tank Killers, and the Fighter Project when those come out. Simulations are not the same: They simulate different things, and we like one of the other for different reasons. I played F4AF for a good while, but I got quite bored with it and quickly - it has nothing to do with me not being 'hard core' or 'prefering lighter fare' or anything of the sort. LOMAC is simply what does it for me, despite any limitations - I have my reasons, and they're as good as anyone else's. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Raploc Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 In all fairness Rap, isnt bitching about the game part of what a forum is for? I know...depends what you mean by bitching, but all the same...Ive heard worse Yep in some way the forum is for complaining and wishing. I know that people will never be satisfied and I think thats a positive thing. But posting here or any where else to kick the hell out of another game just makes me sick. I've seen worse also but that is the reason I stick to this forum and SimHQ and the Steel Beasts Pro Pe forum.

ED Team Olgerd Posted August 7, 2006 ED Team Posted August 7, 2006 pS. Anyone know if FO are going to have any Russian flyables? This question has been answered directly on FO forums.. but I cannot remember if it's a Area 51 question or not... so maybe Buckshot would respond..... It is pretty hard task, as well as for us to make let's say Mirage 2000 having only French sources. Anyway it would be very interesting to look at their implementation. Woodstock Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 I´m so milflightsim-starving in the meantime, that I will buy, love and appreciate anything showing up on the market. No matter where it comes from and what it incorporates, as long as it´s only halfway decent, I´ll fly it. So all you devs get to work and just do something, me wants to spend money!:pilotfly: "For aviators like us, the sky is not the limit - it's our home!"
bflagg Posted August 7, 2006 Posted August 7, 2006 It is pretty hard task, as well as for us to make let's say Mirage 2000 having only French sources. Anyway it would be very interesting to look at their implementation. I agree... It would also seem rather one sided if they only put out a F-15 with all it's bells and whistles , without it's appropriate counterpart without all it's bells and whistles....... now I"m off to redo my HD.. (I've had PC problems for a bit and just haven't the oomph to put it all together again for the last few months.. and when I replaced everything .. I discovered my (<= 1 year) Raptor 75 gig is crapping out on me now. So I get to do it all over again with a IDE HD until I get the warrenty replacement.) See you all when I get back online.. sometimes.. computers really suck. Thanks, Brett
Shaman Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 So all you devs get to work and just do something, me wants to spend money!:pilotfly: Flyable Ka-50 man - it's just gonna be so cool :D I'm pretty much not worried that I won't get hooked. I'm sure I will. If LockOn keeps me hooked since its 1.0 release, I can surely keep playing it and wait another year or two for something new. I'm also hungry for new combat flight sim, but its just not gonna happen like well tommorow. I'll just keep flying LockOn and few other flightsims I have. Actually there are to many of them. I'm like this donkey which has a choice between oat and hay, doesn't know what to choose, and finaly dies starving. I have LockOn as my primary flight sim. Then F4AF, that I'm a n00b at. Orbiter Space Simulator, I just love. MSFS2004, I just like to spend some time with. Forgotten Battles which is just awesome. And Space Shuttle Simulator S3 for a change. When I sit in front of my PC, I have to make hard choices :D Lock On wins most of the time. It's multiplayer, even with its flaws, beats everything. 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
SUBS17 Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Same here practically any new jet sim with detailed avionics and weapons and I'll buy it. I'm looking forward to any sim by XSI, ED, LP and JetThunder. [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
JG27_Arklight Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 Thats true but x-plane already comes with whole world terrain modelling, so does FS9. There is alot more possibilitys for online play if you have such a map. The level of detail well LO is the most detailed at the moment but I think FSX may catch up slightly with some of its features. With some of the add-ons available, FS9 already looks quite a bit better then LO right now, especially with regards to weather/clouds and day/dawn/afternoon/dusk/night colors. The terrain is also pretty darn nice with some of the add-ons out there. LO really isn't "all that" with regards to terrain/environment, which are some of the things I hope ED can rectify. LO has it's obvious benefits as well though. I like to think I can never have too many sims on my computer. :) Ark ------------------ Windows 10 Pro x64 9900K @ 5ghz Gigabyte Aorus Master Z390 32GB G.Skill Trident Z RGB CAS 14 EVGA RTX 2080 Ti Ultra XC2 256gb Samsung 869 Pro (Boot Drive) 1TB - Samsung 970 EVO Plus Seasoninc 1000w Titanium Ultra PSU 34" ASUS PG348
