The reason I ask is there is one for sale on Trade Me and it is buy now 180 dollars. Should I get it or forget it? dogbite Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Since there are some that don't find the CV1 up to the task, I would suspect you would be unhappy with the DK2 in DCS. I personally bought the CV1 without having experienced VR and before most reviews were out. The one advantage of CV1 being delayed was that it gave me a lot of time to cancel. The reviews by DCS pilots and Elite and IRacing kept me from hitting the cancel button. I have been flying since Sublogic invented Flightsim. When Flight Unlimited came about, I got my first taste of "ground closure" For me, DCS is the closest you can get to real flight on a home computer and in the CV1 it is awesome and the best we've got. For my part, I can no longer fly on my 147" HD display. If you are in the US, you may be able to get a demo. If not read and watch as many reviews as you can to aid in your decision. many of the posts and videos by DCS pilots convinced me that this was worth it. I am not sorry in the least. 1 I5 6600K @4.5, Gigabyte GA-Z170XP mobo, GMMAXX GTE Cooler, MSI GTX 1080 ti Gaming X gpu (factory OC), SoundBlaster X-F1 sound card, 16 gig Corsair Vengeance ddr4 ram @ 3200 , 3 ssd hds, EVGA 650 Gold Power supply, Saitek X52 Hotas and rudders, 2 AuraSound AST-2B-4 Pro Bass Shakers, Pimax 5K+
DerekSpeare Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 Sublogic! Wow...that's a time warp...remember when they announced in ~90-91 that they planned to do an Air Force UPT sim? It never came, obviously. I had their ATP sim and it was really good back then. First Gen VR is on the threshold of image quality. While it's still rubbish compared to 4k screens (it's "acceptable"), the immersion is mind blowing. dogbite Posted July 25, 2016 Posted July 25, 2016 (edited) Glad you found it helpful. Just want to offer kudos to the members of this forum. I try to contribute to many forums in an intelligent and meaningful way and I must say this is by far the most civilized and helpful group I have been privileged to be involved with. I too, have found much insight here. Goes to the higher intellect of those that play simulators as opposed to Donkey Kong games I suppose. Dinga Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Oculus Rift DK2 + Leap Motion I found this one for sale on Trade 650 NZ dollars buy now .Is it the latest one?Should I buy it? This is so exciting. The leap motion looks like something I probably won't be using in DCS
hansangb Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 Dinga, LeapMotion doensn't work in DCS. And it's not *that* accurate. Nor is it very expensive. DK2 is pretty old now. For just a little more, you can get the CV1. So latest Rift is CV1. You should keep an eye on this thread: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=168141 An open source version of Rift. See what the feedback is like and it's in your price range and it may work just fine with DCS. Again, check the thread to see what the initial reports are like. From looking at the specs, it's probably better than DK2. hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1

DerekSpeare Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 DK2 should be 200 bucks; the prices people want are just stupid. Pay the money and get a CV1. Leap is useless unless you want the novelty of it. Doesn't work in DCS and Leap tech has a long way to go before people adopt it - if they ever do. SkateZilla Posted July 26, 2016 Posted July 26, 2016 DK2 should be less than that, You can build a better unit for $200 Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs

adrianstealth Posted July 29, 2016 Posted July 29, 2016 can we get rid of the labels that appear with out having to switch off each time? I've not loaded DCS up since i saw these incredibly stupid idea
whitav8 Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 Just edit them out entirely with the Labels.lua in the Config\View directory.I think you could start with them off by setting things like AirOn = false PC HW 9700K@5.0Ghz Win 10 (Build 2004 ) with WMR VR - Reverb RTX2070 with Nvidia 451.48 DCS 2.5.6 (latest)
Paveway333 Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 Hi guys! Just got the CV1 yesterday. Im having what seems to be a problem with the lenses. If I look straight trough them it's like a big smudge, but when i look trough them at the most upper part of the lense/or sometimes really low its really clear and sharp, like looking at a normal monitor (not able to wear the rift at this position). Seems like it has degraded since yesterday, not even possible for me to read the text in F-5 (Load/Lock - No Film) witch is located under the HUD, and even a fairly big text. Tried Running pixel density at 1.5 and 2.0, even in the oculus debugger.. I know about godrays etc, but this looks just like smudge. i7 4790k, Gtx 980, SSD. Settings both textures to High, rest to low or off.
dogbite Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 (edited) I assume you know the headset tilts up and down and there is an IPD slider under the right side to adjust the sweet spot. The Oculus setup has an IPD setup routine, I also assume you have tried to clean them with the supplied lens cloth. If so, it may require opening a ticket with Oculus. dogbite Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 (edited) Disregard my last post. There is indeed a problem with the last patch to DCS 2 as my Huey controls are half smudged. Mi8 has same issue. digitaljjd Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 Hello all. I had the DK2 and finally took the plunge on a CV1. I'm about to jump into setting this all up again after being away from DCS for sometime. I have three quick questions. One, is there any guide or quick set-up sticky somewhere? Two, how do I output the rift or "mirror" it to my monitor for others outside the rift to see what's going on? And finally three, I think I used 70% isopropyl alcohol diluted 4:1 on my DK2 but was going to try 12:1 on my CV1 (closer to lens wipe strength? I believe)=(2.5ml 70% isopropyl alcohol with 30ml of distilled water or 1/2 TEAspoon to 2 TABLEspoons). Yes I saw the no fluid cleaning warning stickers. To make everyone cringe a little more, I used bounty paper towels. Damp, not over saturated very gently and had zero scratches on my DK2 I dried them with an also slight damp paper towel. I realize we can't remove these lenses but my facial grease is strong with the force. I don't think the microfiber will cut it. It may be a $630 mistake but we will all see if it comes down to that or not when the time comes. Thanks for any advise like don't use isopropyl alcohol on acrylic.
adrianstealth Posted July 30, 2016 Posted July 30, 2016 Move headset down your face more than you'd think I find the sweet spot is in the upper half of the optics

Gman109 Posted July 31, 2016 Posted July 31, 2016 I found it interesting that HTC's instructions for cleaning the Vive include using liquid/alcohol based cleaning fluids used for glasses/TVs, yet Oculus' instructions are VERY clear about using absolutely NO liquids, and only microfiber cloths. I'm sure I've read that the lenses for both are made out of much the same materials, so what's the deal here? I've erred on the side of caution with both, however would like to know why there is such a difference in the manuals of both units regarding lens cleaning.
