hansangb Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 I don't know about Firestorm. Mad Dog 7.62 Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 Well I finally got a chance to try Open Alpha 2.0 with the new VR improvements. (2.03xx?) The ability to assign the mouse clicks to my controller is NICE! I kinda wish the zoom view was a toggle rather than a hold. But the next thing I need in VR is a way to see my checklists for startup etc. The kneeboard is there now, but paging through the manual is not good. The last I knew the kneeboard builder utility by Alaskan Grizzly was not working reliably and not at all in the open alpha. Any ideas, or know if there are any plans in the works? fulcrum_64th Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 VR newbie question: how do you control zoom in the VR cockpit ? :pilotfly: win 10x64 - Asus ROG Maximus XI Hero - I9 9900K@5.0GHz - Samsung 970 EVO m2 2TB - RAM Corsair 64GB DDR4 - Corsair H150i pro - Strix RTX 2080 Ti- oculus rift S and a few other goodies :joystick:
Mad Dog 7.62 Posted August 8, 2016 Posted August 8, 2016 You have to bind a control to it in the UI Layer on the controls menu. That's also where you bind mouse keys to your controller. Mad Dog 7.62 Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 After a lack of success in that past, I just tried Alaska Grizzly's Kneeboard Builder again. (You can find it in the mods and apps forum) When I loaded it, it applied an update and....viola! It worked perfectly in 2.03!! I can know have my startup checklist in the VR cockpit, and I will be adding other things as well! j0nx Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 They do autoupdate (both FW and drivers) And it looks like Firestorm is the equivalent for your version of GPU. They do assuming you aren't running antivirus. My mcafee prevents any oculus software from updating. Can't install games, updates, firmware, nothing unless mcafee is disabled first. Adding an exclusion for the oculus folder does nothing either. It's a huge problem that they have still yet to fix. Sierra_three Posted August 9, 2016 Posted August 9, 2016 I have a problem with my Oculus CV1. When I use my Oculus an open the F10 map, I cant see the map itself. I only see tactical signs an airports but no map? Anyone with the same problem who solved it?
JG4_Sputnik Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 For lack of resolution I'd love to see a "label" by mouse-over which shows me the gauge's values like in FSX. Would be very helpful... Oh and by the way does anyone else have the issue, that when you look rather downwards and hold your head idle for about 2 secs the marker disappears an you have to move your head a bit up again for it to reappear? It's a bit annoying...
Knock-Knock Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 (edited) Why not just put the 'label' in a fixed position in the VR view, so that it is always in your lower right (or lower left, or low center) no matter where you look, same size etc, as the rest of the onscreen text - chat, communication etc. Edit: Lower left probably the best choice, since a text can vary in size, so having it lower left would be more natural to read. This being the tool tips of course, not the aircraft label stuff. And yes, agree with JG4_Sputnik. Hovering over a guage and get the readout displayed would be welcome. IL2 COD, and BOS does this too. Corbett1403 Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Or try and make the cockpit text more readable by adjusting fonts for VR. Making them bolder. I also think sometimes over certain terrain the HUD is hard to read so making that more bold or something along those lines Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Leader98 Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Just started to play DCS World in VR on the CV1. I noticed that the buildings and bridges all look "double" when do fly very low over a town. I am also still struggling to get the most optimal settings in DCS (the best graphical quality but still smooth flying to keep the immersion 100%). Can anyone with a similar rig share his/her settings?
Knock-Knock Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Just start with low setting, and work your way up from there. Its quite individual I guess, what we prefer, in terms of performance vs look/candy. Shadows, dont use'em. Very heavy. View Distance. Use low or medium. Tree Draw distance. Use something low to limit the hit. Im still experimenting, currently using 3000. Getting a constant 90 fps is pretty impossible, cause as soon as you fly low over towns, it drops to 45 or so, and thats where you get the 'double' effect. Airfields are usually in the 45 fps range too, when sitting there on the ramp. - Jack of many DCS modules, master of none. - Personal wishlist: F-15A, F-4S Phantom II, JAS 39A Gripen, SAAB 35 Draken, F-104 Starfighter, Panavia Tornado IDS. | Windows 11 | i5-12400 | 64Gb DDR4 | RTX 3080 | 2x M.2 | 27" 1440p | Rift CV1 | Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS | MFG Crosswind pedals |

jasonstory44 Posted August 10, 2016 Posted August 10, 2016 Do the markers for the switches in the tutorials not work in VR? I'm trying to learn a new module. JG4_Sputnik Posted August 11, 2016 Posted August 11, 2016 Hmm actualy no, but I thought that since the latest patch the cursor was trapped in the window screen.... Thought I read that somewhere. Will try the Alt-Enter thing though, thanks Mad Dog!
j0nx Posted August 12, 2016 Posted August 12, 2016 Anyone else getting video card underclocking with latest 2.0 alpha? Beta works fine but the alpha makes my 1080 run at 1750mhz instead of 2000mhz. Seems like a big bug but not sure it's me or everyone else? I just updated lastnight after a few weeks so this might be a documented bug by now? Also every time I hover near a switch an annoying gray box pops up with the name of that switch. Hoping that can be turned off.
