The Meatboy voice is a bit jarring when you first hear because you're not expecting it, but then it grows on you. I really like it. I'll fly with Meatboy anytime.

Meatboy's acting is fine for a sim imo, however his accent sounds like an English aristocrat from the 1920s (or perhaps Harry Enfield or Paul Whitehouse doing an impression of one.)

No one talks like that now. For more contemporary English AAC/RAF/RN accent references there's lots of interview examples on YouTube.

Not a big issue imo, the module is great, just saying :-)

Me I like it, it's exactly what you imagine as a french about British...

:D

No, just kidding :megalol:. Could someone provide me good infantry procedures (Not necessarily JTAC) to call in an helicopter Canon/rockt strike ?

Thanks ;)

I love it. I love every line. Meatboy and Hammer and all of them.

Though I do wish the first mission didn't force me to follow Meatboy at speeds lower than the autopilot will function at just because my Nadir can't save waypoints 10+. That thing fixes every issue I had with the Huey, really, til it runs out of space. I just know that Apache can push 150kph, though, I'm certain it can.

The US Army Field Manuals are the only resource I can think of.

US Army Field Manual, FM 3-04.126, Attack Reconnaissance Helicopter Operations

Page 121 (3-59) covers ATTACK MISSIONS and Close Combat Attack (CCA) with a sample checklist for the ground commander.

US Army Field Manual, FM 1-112, ATTACK HELICOPTER OPERATIONS

Mission planning, Fire plans, target priorities, breaking contact, etc.

US Army Field Manual, FM 3-21-20, The Infantry Battalion

Has a nice little diagram/flow chart on page 514

Add FM 3-21-20

I can help you with US/NATO call for fire (Artillery, mortars, etc.). I'm not familiar with the specific format for calling in a helo strike but I imagine it would be similar if not identical.

I flew the first 2 missions yesterday and I have to say I'm enjoying it very much. Excellent job! I didn't pass the second mission but I see why now after looking over this thread. I missed the landing zone. Also I didnt even know there was a pdf briefing so I will have to check that out when home again.

I liked the voice acting. Reminded me of No One Lives Forever!

Thanks for the kind comments. :)

I know I got a bit angry when someone was knocking it - but I know how much work went into the campaign - Dimitriov did a first class job, and that whilst doing his studies and exams, too!

He deserves a lot of credit for what he achieved with the Gazelle, so to see one of, if not the first comment was someone complaining, it was very disheartening.

As for the Meatboy voice - I knew what Dimitiriov was looking for, and I knew I could do a reasonable job of that kind of voice. I had my doubts, many times, during the production and I lost count of how many times I asked if I should re-record the lines. But also sometimes I just couldn't stop laughing when I listened back to the recordings :D

It's meant as a light-hearted poke at the traditional (in the fictional sense) English cavalry officer of old. I think I called it "Biggles in modern combat" or something similar. All for fun.

those that didn't like it will be pleased to know that all my other voice acting has been with my normal voice :)

It's understandable that it could be taken to heart. I know how much work can go into even just a single mission as I have built one. One of the only rewards of building one, aside from the joy of the creation process, is to see the community enjoy the final product. I think the voice overs are great. They bring fun and character to the missions.

I liked it a lot!

I think it's obvious the campaign takes a somewhat liberal and fun approach at the whole thing, so the voice just suits it very nicely. Besides, I think I've heard you in quite a few other missions as AWACS/ABCCC and appreciate the variety in the way you voice those different roles.

Haven't flown the Gazelle campaign since I finished it in an early version, but I really liked it.

Thanks Yurgon. I still haven't heard my wife in the campaigns yet - so I need to get some flying done (much easier now I have the fantastic Rift to make it appear so much more real).

I did a couple of the other English voices in the Gazelle campaign - Meatboy 2 and Kilo. But it's the M2K campaign where I do AWACS etc.

Probably suits me more as my main role in the military was on command nets, so I'm used to bossing people around! :D

More congrats to Dimitriov, though - I think he said that he did all of the different voices in the French campaign himself :shocking:

Passed mission 2 now that I had help after landing in the lz ;). I even took the direct route instead of going back the way I came to rtb and hunted down a AAA using my RWR and one remaining missile. So much fun.

The first time I flew it I took out all the threats at the camp and had nothing left to kill the artillery with. I rtb-ed and tried to rearm unsuccessfully. They said they rearmed me but I still didn't have missiles.

Yup, that's the one I meant, I was lucky enough to be allowed to test it. Can't wait for the campaign to get released, I think people will love it.

Haha, didn't know that. With my rather rusty French, I probably shouldn't check it out anyway. ;)

Not sure if this is what happened to you, but... sometimes when I take battle damage, the damn missiles are just kicked off their mounts. At first I thought rearming must have malfunctioned, but then in a totally different flight, I was 100% sure I had taken off with 4 missiles, had taken a few hits, and one or two launchers where completely gone. Could that have happened to you as well? In any case, this is an amazing feature!

Well, I'm not sure. But thanx for the heads up. Now I'll know what to look for.

What, my characters and approach of the question don't look serious ? :D

Could it be that Mission 5 is buggy at the moment?

I arrived at WP 8, the ambush spot, and there was no convoy with a truck. I eventually enabled labes and saw a parked convoy with a few APCs and a Shilka in the next village, but they did not move. Meatboy even said his line about seeing the convoy and that the Truck is the 5th vehicle in the convoy. Even with lables and directly on WP8, I could not find that convoy.

Remembering your first preview video, it looked like your flying was more dangerous than anything the enemy could throw at you. :D

Besides, when I flew the campaign and hovered in that exact same spot, I was shot in the back by an enemy tank. :music_whistling:

As I remember it, the vehicles moved nicely towards the coast line.

Weren't the late activation and group AI on/off problems fixed with the latest version?

Wait...coast line? WP8 was in the mountains for me. :o

I'll have to try it again, but flying over the dark water always scares me…
