=SCoRPioN= Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I'M POSTING THIS MESSAGE ON SEVERAL FORUMS YOU CAN INCREASE LOCK ON FRAMERATE BY 30-100% INSTRUCTIONS: LOCK ON uses a generic renderer DXRenderer.dll It is located in the root LockOn folder. You need to tell the game to use the renderer that is optimized for your card, Nvidia or ATI. 1. Find and open with notepad this file: ..\Lock On\Config\graphics.cfg 2. Find the following line: Renderer = "DXRenderer.dll"; 3. Change the line to: a) For Nvidia GeForce: Renderer = "nv4_disp.dll"; b) For ATI Radeon: Renderer = "ati2dvag.dll"; 4. SEARCH FOR nv4_disp.dll or ati2dvag.dll Usually located in C:\WINDOWS\system32\ 5. COPY the file into ..\Lock On\ next to DXRenderer.dll 6. MAKE SURE that you have the original drivers from Nvidia or ATI website BEFORE doing anything of the above. 7. This helped serveral people who I told. One had over 100 FPS flying at max settings with GeForce 7950 GX2. I'm running at 35-60 FPS and 25 is the lowest I get when close to ground with buildings, trees and Su-25T Shkval TV system. GeForce 6600 GT 500/1000Mhz DISCLAIMER: By performing any of the above instructions you take sole responsibility for anything that happens after. You cannot hold me or anyone liable for any damages. Shotsx74 Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Make sure you just back up your files guys if your doing this, I havent tired it yet but be sure to.
LawnDart Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Not saying this could work, but I noticed no difference in FPS on my rig... The only noticable difference I noted was the lack of shading and lighting fx on the exterior models. The F-15 skin had no lighting applied to it at all after trying this and when I reverted back, everything was fine. Hmm... Maybe this works better for low-end systems as far as the framerates go? Another tip: Two programs that help increase puter performance are GameBoost (internet connectivity) and GameGain (fps). Shotsx74 Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Tested works pretty good still doing somethings before I do keep it the edit on here. Other then that works fine for right now.
christopher m Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 FPS boost I have P4 (Prescott) OC_3.15gh, Asus P4C800-E, 2gig PC3200 mem, nv 6800_GT OC_400mhz, 256mb DDR3 and Win XP pro. It works fine and maybe a little improvement. I run LO with all effects on high except Scenes@medium. Haven't tried to up to Scenes@high yet. Regards, [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Christopher M
Pilotasso Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 this is actualy an old trick. you get the FPS at the cost of shadows. Nice to share anyway. Good intention. :) .
theGozr Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Game wont load.. when trying to fly , becareful to this.. Fly it like you stole it..
Disso Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 So all it does is remove the shadows, which results in the FPS gain. It isn't some fancy-smancy trick. SU-30MKI F/A-18F ...Beauty, grace, lethality.
=SCoRPioN= Posted September 6, 2006 Author Posted September 6, 2006 I have shadows and everything, it did not remove them. Maybe it removes the shadows for ATI cards, I have Nvidia GeForce 6600 GT. My first computer and my ED collection: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] I won FC1 in the original Lock On Tournament in 2005: http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=8805

jonnyB3 Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 I know how to put the fps higher! All graphics to low ahaha! I have a Nvidia Geforce 6600 Moderator doesnt like it :(
Force_Feedback Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 Placebo is one great band.... Although they're getting old by now, the sond Infra-Red from their new album is still cool, but after playing with the synthesizer settings, it seems to sound differently. How's that for vague references? Creedence Clearwater Revival:worthy:

=SCoRPioN= Posted September 6, 2006 Author Posted September 6, 2006 Maybe it's because you have a radeon. Some people I was trying to explain how to do this on teamspeak and they didnt understand. Maybe people dont do it correctly, or something. Because most of those who understood how to do this on teamspeak with me, said that it improved their framerate, and one dude doubled his rate. Necroscope Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 BTW - graph in post #18 looks like he have less fps drops... Всех убью, один останусь!
bflagg Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 This is very old. ED has since stated it does nothing.... Thanks, Brett

I did it correctly. I use GeForce. No change at all. I recall now that this trick was posted on nUBI forums before FC release. As far I remember it was already stated there it is placebo. 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer
Jester_159th Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 ;237635']......<snip>... and one dude doubled his rate. If he claimed he doubled his FPS either: a) He's comparing FPS before over a city with FPS after over open water with nothing in sight. b) He had all GFX settings on MAX before and had all settings on LOW afterwards c) He was pulling your chain. Don't believe claims like that unless the guy making the claim can back it up with proof.
Maximus_G Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 BTW - graph in post #18 looks like he have less fps drops... I'd say there's almost the same quantity of those micro-freeze events. The main difference is that in one case we have more micro-freezes _before_ the scene change, and in another case - _after_. Maybe ati2dvag produces more shallow freezes, but still they are there and every one takes the same time - so they're not more pleasant then those of dxrenderer.dll.
Mustang Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 It doesn't matter what you do, you can edit the graphics.cfg and use whatever .dll you like, it'll still use dxrenderer.dll, try removing it from the directory and see what happens.......
Maximus_G Posted September 6, 2006 Posted September 6, 2006 It doesn't matter what you do, you can edit the graphics.cfg and use whatever .dll you like, it'll still use dxrenderer.dll It will use dxrenderer along with the one stated in graphics.cfg.
