Kuky Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 I just went to see how I can measure my IPD as I am getting OR sometimes in next 2 months I guess and when I read their instructions on how to do it it raised a security flag straight away... would you just look at this: If you did what they asked you to this is what you would be doing: Credit Card has imprinted numbers meaning all of the CC numbers, expiry date as well as your signature and security 3 digit numbers would all show in the webcam! SAFE? DON'T WORRY? And then they ask you to send this to your doctor? WTF!? PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
cichlidfan Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 (edited) The thing is, from what I can see, that is a forum post on the Oculus site misquoting the directions from the linked site. This is what I found on the site mentioned (the highlight is mine). EDIT: In my estimation, the poster of the message is just a moron. Kuky Posted June 21, 2016 Author Posted June 21, 2016 Ah right, I didn't even notice it is a post from some user... that explains the stupidity. I see that this IPD is not too hard to measure yourself, you can take a photo of yourself with ruler in front of you and measure distance from eye to eye... most certainly don't need to take photo of your CC with all the details on it, then sending it to your DR. I guess the good people (moderators) will move this thread to the right space if its not in the right space :) PC specs: Windows 11 Home | Asus TUF Gaming B850-Plus WiFi | AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D + LC 360 AIO | MSI RTX 5090 LC 360 AIO | 55" Samsung Odyssey Gen 2 | 64GB PC5-48000 DDR5 | 1TB M2 SSD for OS | 2TB M2 SSD for DCS | NZXT C1000 Gold ATX 3.1 1000W | TM Cougar Throttle, Floor Mounted MongoosT-50 Grip on TM Cougar board, MFG Crosswind, Track IR
wormeaten Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 You can send same picture to me and I will tell you exact IPD. If suddenly sell of DCS moduls increase that will just be coincidence. :music_whistling:

NeilWillis Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 (edited) Or get your partner/lover/friend/mom to measure your IPD using the aforementioned ruler. Or here's a much better idea... Take advantage of the free eye test offer at your nearest opticians, get a check done on the health of your eyes, see if you would get a better experience with the VR kit by having your eyesight checked out, and while you are at it, ask the optician for an accurate IPD measurement. Not only does it give you that golden little measurement more accurately than any photo could, you get a free healthcheck too! Edited June 21, 2016 by NeilWillis

KLR Rico Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 There's a "lens adjustment" option in the pause menu that shows the crosshairs and IPD setting. I think the instructions for measuring your own IPD is mainly intended for the people who don't have a rift and want to see if it will work with their IPD. i5-4670K@4.5GHz / 16 GB RAM / SSD / GTX1080 Rift CV1 / G-seat / modded FFB HOTAS

Teej Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 Part of the rifts initial calibration takes care of this. Green cross hatch lines. SkateZilla Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 (edited) I'll use one of those fake CC's they send lol. however, take a ruler put it on your forhead, take a selfie count the mm ticks from the center of one eye to another, Or load into photoshop and put lines from the center of your eye up to the ruler on your forhead. that being said, the only reason you would need your IPD is for the DK2's and the old .8 and Below Runtime where you had to manually entire the IPD, the 1.3+ Runtimes and CV1 units have a calibration process that involves moving lenses to focus w/ IPD Readout. blksolo Posted June 21, 2016 Posted June 21, 2016 I can tell you on the DK2 the IPD software used was perfect,I had my IPD checked by an optometrist and it was exactly what DK2 said it was. hansangb Posted June 22, 2016 Posted June 22, 2016 Yup, in DK2, the measuring was different (move until you can't see the lines) and it was spot on. But with the cross hair adjustment that CV1 uses, I don't know that I trust it just yet. But then again, I drive optometrists crazy with "is one better, or two better?" uhh...can you flip it again? "is one better, or two better?" uhhh...maybe one more time? "is one better, or two better?" uhhhh, I think two, but I'm not too sure /* rinse, repeat, recycle */ :) hsb HW Spec in Spoiler --- i7-10700K Direct-To-Die/OC'ed to 5.1GHz, MSI Z490 MB, 32GB DDR4 3200MHz, EVGA 2080 Ti FTW3, NVMe+SSD, Win 10 x64 Pro, MFG, Warthog, TM MFDs, Komodo Huey set, Rverbe G1
