I'd imagine so. ED are working on a new damage system for DCS aircraft.

As an aside, as a player if you want to shoot down Mig-15's currently without filling it entirely full of lead, just aim for the wing and wing roots. The fuselage is a bullet sponge, so never aim for that.

^This, for both. ;)

ok ive got a good question, I currently do not have a track IR, could that explain why Im percieving erronious lead angles on the gunsight?

like ive always felt as though the automatic lead angle is just slightly off. and Im only assuming that my head position could directly effect that. I know that would happen in the mig, becuase its just got a crosshair sticking up, Im not sure if that fancy gunsight would compensate for that or not

and if it does, at where in the aircraft would the pilots head be to be zeroed in.

Reflector gunsight doesn't need pilot's head to be in specific position, as the projected reticle image seems to be focused at infinite distance, hence relative position between reticle and the target remains the same no matter how much You're yanking Your head around (that's the primary reason why such gunsight was invented). The only difference between fixed an gyro one is ability of the latter to compute lead.

You feel the angle is a little off, because at the moment it is off in the F-86 module. Used to be better, and is better in P-51 for example. So Your hardware is not at fault here - You can only wait for a fix from BST, or try to learn how much to compensate Yourself for this glitch.

This is one of the more difficult AI match ups in sim, but is winnable, even with consistency on a good day. At least for me.

Part of the reason is UFO like "qualities" MiG-15 SFM possess, and part of it is due to .50 cals being rather anemic against aircraft in DCS. MiG can at least be shot down with .50 cals, once I've tried Hawk as a target for Mustang and Sabre, gave up after like 20 or so attempts, with hundres of hits in each, and each resulted in a frustrated P-51/F-86 flying formation with a Hawk that looks like Swiss cheese, yet flying just fine.

Wishlist: F-4E Block 53 +, MiG-27K, Su-17M3 or M4, AH-1F or W circa 80s or early 90s, J35 Draken, Kfir C7, Mirage III/V

Cant believe no one has mentioned diving. This is the critical advantage of the sabre. When a mig starts to become offensive on you, simply start diving. Once you get to the point where she wants to roll uncommanded (about .96 mach) level out and start a shallow climb. Stay at top speed and theres no way the mig can follow. Just pull away until you get enough distance to re-engauge or exit the fight. Combine this with ACM and sabres in the hands of a flight of good pilots are unstoppable

When diving, know that the AI MiG has magic airbrakes that will prevent it from overspeeding. They also work instantly so it will follow you up to 99.99% of max dive speed without issue.

I actually find that going vertical works well against the AI. If you manage to get behind it, it will most likely begin doing vertical loops forever. At the top of the loop it is going slow, while you will be below and have more enegy. You can pull an instantaneous turn and get your guns on the MiG while it's at the top of its maneuver. If it doesn't work out, dive, run, and reset.

You can also exploit the MiG's love of vertical maneuvers by going into a full vertical climb when it's behind you. It won't give up until it hits stall speed, and it has supermaneuverability, so it will be able to track you with its nose while it's falling. What it can't do is keep going up forever. If you point your F-86 straight up with a good bit of speed and keep it pointing up as long as possible, you have a good chance of ending up falling on top of the MiG as it recovers from stall.

These tactics are somewhat silly, but then so is the MiG AI.

This normally works pretty well!
