Wish List: New airfields with no aprons. Can't start cold.

I started this thread in a friendly tone, but the longer it goes on the more impatient I have become, so I apologise for that.

One more thought crossed my mind. If you have your way, and allow aircraft to take off and land anywhere, then that will surely mean if you run off the runway there would be no effect. Are you quite sure de-skilling the most critical phases of flight is a good idea?

Frankly I find that prospect quite depressing!

Not what I proposed at all. Allow the editor to place aircraft anywhere, if you place an aircraft somewhere it will get stuck, that's on you. Since we know the prop planes, which would fit the Mina airstrip's use, don't get stuck, no big deal. If you put a Flanker in the dirt and you can't move it, oh well, your problem. And being able to place Viggens on the road would be neat/realistic.

Just for the "sport" of arguing, some people will twist what the others write so to fuel this absolute ridiculous discussion. From the second post, the original and very simple idea was distorted. This thread was not worth 3 posts, and look what it grew to... ridiculous.

So blinded by their own concepts that cannot understand that others might have a different vision.

So stupid, that "fun" is almost a sin. As if fun was opposed to realism. What do you play DCS for if it's not fun?

I think it would be great to be able to place aircraft where ever I like, the same as can be done with a helicopter.

The debate moved on from your original concept.

It went from there, and yep, it just got weird. :music_whistling:

Oh Look...

F-18s at Mesa Airstrip - but its privately owned by the US Dept. of Energy!

F-86s at Beatty Airport - such a small general aviation airfield!

F-15s at Mesquite - such a small runway only 5,000 feet!

Where is the realism police!!! this is not fun! shame!!!

You think it isn't weird for someone to request that modern jets should be able to take off and land anywhere - even in a ploughed field or rock strewn desert?

Actually what I think is weird is that you keep on retorting with misquotes.

These things have only been mentioned by you;

"wheat field"

"forest"

"ploughed field"

"rock strewn desert"

Sorry Neil, but these things have manifested from your imagination, and not quotes to what people have typed. To top it you have the audacity to say this...

I was under the impression we wanted realism.

Actually what I have said can be quoted and it is sensible, unlike your comments, but that appears to be a recurring tone in your posts.

I challenge you NeilWillis, to show me where a user has said they wish to take off from a "wheat field", else I will just continue to assume you are trolling.

It would be handy to have some wheat fields in the NTTR as there are more strawmen in this thread than at a scarecrow convention.

I think its a reasonable request too, but not a super high priority either I would think.

Yeah, would be nice though. It would make the field more usable in simulated war scenarios. Heck, B-52s can operate out of Echo bay, I suppose it would not be too much ask for the prop fliers to be able to operate out of Mina :smilewink:

@RangarDa, There was a scene of the Viggen doing a landing on a roadway, have you guys been able to implement the ability to spawn an aircraft (engine off) on a road as well?

[–]RagnarDa 5 points 51 minutes ago

Unfortunately no, but we are working with ED on it. The aircraft is easy to land on small and short roads though.
