Trackclip Pro: Go or NO-GO?

Thinking of buying Trackclip Pro for my TrackIR 5. I read several people having some issues and break quickly, others say it been fixed.

 

So GO or NO-GO ?

Works OK for about 10 years already.

Can't point the date exactly, only date I found on clip "Copyright 2006".

But I got one with TIR 4.

haven't had any Issues, and it's atually nicer than the other, default on to attach, if you have a Headseat

had mine for a longtime, it is held together with sellotape.

 

just be careful when you get it, and remember I said it the first time you break it :)

Structurally weak, but functionally strong.

 

When you buy it, buy some gaffer tape at the sane time and you'll be prepared for all eventualities.

the track clip pro is sooo much better than the reflective tape, but like others have said, weak plastic, mine is more superglue than plastic now, but you can get the dimensions and build your own with a resistor and some wide angle IR LEDs, or there are pre-made alternatives pretty cheap on ebay

+1 to this. Track clip pro is well worth all the money. With it TrackIR is much more precise and smooth than with the reflector thing. The biggest difference is when sitted close to the TIR receiver which is more or less a normal setup with TIR mounted on top of the monitor and when sitting close to it on standard desk. Plus it can be easily mounted on a headset. As for the build quality, I have it for more than a year now. It's perfectly fine. It requires paying a bit more attention to not dropping it or carelessly throwing. For sure it's not the most solid piece of equipment but I've also read that the quality of the plastic was improved. The only "real" issue that the pro clip has is that it stays on even if computer is shut down. I guess it's due to USB ports being powered up. Something that probably can be managed but may require chaning a switch or a jumber on motherboard.

I can't imagine what the designers were thinking about forcing people to wear the cap for the reflector. They should just save the cost on the hat and ship the TIR with LED clip by default instead.

I'd say "Buy it".

It is a great product.

 

Also, start to place your headphones gently on their own spot. This way you will never need any"gaffer tape".

My trackclip pro has outlasted 2 sets of headphones with no damage.

I use the delan clip. My NP Track clip Pro broke afer I droppped my headset. broken beyond reapair.

The delan clip is metal and has been dropped many times and is still going strong. I would recommend getting one.

Go...just treat it as a delicate instrument...Ive always thought that those who complain about the construction were those that didnt take care...its not for your average Klutz!

Mine lasted for years until it ran into a 4 year old, but that's on me for letting her mess with my headphones :) I ordered a new one, but kept the old one, when I find some time I want to rebuild it bigger, better, stronger ;)

Helo guys, I recently bought a TIR 4 from a friend, but it came with the reflective track clip. So, I bought a track clip pro, I received it today. But I'm a little disapointed, I'm testing it all day along.

 

For example, if I stand still, without any head movement, it moves by itself. I can't click precisely in any knob on virtual cockpit, especially with zoom in. Things that were easy with the "reflective tape". Definly there is something wrong, what it can be?
