Redglyph Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 DCS 1.5.5.60314.211 The volume of the instructor's voice should be increased, it's very low and inaudible over the engine. It is said that if the user can't hear the instructor, he may turn down the "World" or the "In-Cockpit" volume, but (1) it's not enough even lowering those within acceptable limits, (2) it's not a good idea to change the overall settings and make it worse for other missions and modules when it's possible to simply speak louder. I also tried with the "Hear like helmet" but it's not enough either, the voice volume is simply too low. 1 System specs: Win7 x64 | CPU: i7-4770K | RAM: 16 GB | GPU: GTX 980 Ti 6 GB | Thrustmaster HOTAS | MFG rudder pedals | SATA3 SSD | TrackIR
razo+r Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 You could lower the in cockpit sound to the minimum and raise the other settings since you can adjust that ingame, you just have to remember the settings you had and if you made the training reset those 1
EntropySG Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 (edited) edit sry didnt read properly, was trying to help Edited December 17, 2016 by EntropySG [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Redglyph Posted December 17, 2016 Author Posted December 17, 2016 It seems neither of you has read my post, probably just the title  Anyway, it's possible to simply adjust the gain in the .ogg file, for example with a tool like xrecode2. Works perfectly and no need to record them again, I suggest to do that to fix the problem. Art-J Posted December 17, 2016 Posted December 17, 2016 Red, You have to make much longer thread titles, with all relevant info already in them, because, clearly, some guys don't bother with reading the actual posts on this forum :D :D :D. i7 9700K @ stock speed, single GTX1070, 32 gigs of RAM, TH Warthog, MFG Crosswind, Win10.
Redglyph Posted December 17, 2016 Author Posted December 17, 2016 So that's what I've been doing wrong all this time :D And a 5-word summary in the post, of course ;) System specs: Win7 x64 | CPU: i7-4770K | RAM: 16 GB | GPU: GTX 980 Ti 6 GB | Thrustmaster HOTAS | MFG rudder pedals | SATA3 SSD | TrackIR
Duck21 Posted December 27, 2016 Posted December 27, 2016 Same here, that voice volume is way too low, can't understand the guy with anything else then idle thrust. Yes one COULD try and lower certain audio settings, but that really doesn't fix the problem, does it ;) 1
razo+r Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 I tried it and it's a nope, nothing really helps
Captain Orso Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 In the P-51D tutorials right at the start they advise, if you have trouble hearing the voice of the tutorial instructor to "turn down the WORLD and IN-COCKPIT sound sliders in the Options menu". Since a few updates ago, this can now be done without ending the mission  When you hit the wrong button on take-off System Specs. Redglyph Posted December 28, 2016 Author Posted December 28, 2016 As said multiple times above, this isn't a good solution unfortunately. System specs: Win7 x64 | CPU: i7-4770K | RAM: 16 GB | GPU: GTX 980 Ti 6 GB | Thrustmaster HOTAS | MFG rudder pedals | SATA3 SSD | TrackIR
Captain Orso Posted December 28, 2016 Posted December 28, 2016 Turning down the World and In-Cockpit volume levels is a functioning work-around. If you turn them down far enough you will easily be able to hear the tutorial speaker's voice. After completing the tutorial, turn the World and In-Cockpit volumes up to your desired levels. It might be that it would be better were the tutorial voice lauder, but being that there is a usable work-around, I imagine ED will not put a terribly high priority on changing it. Redglyph Posted December 28, 2016 Author Posted December 28, 2016 Yeah, for sure they won't give that any priority if some claim it is a good work-around ;) Even by setting everything down, it's barely audible most of the time. Not sure why others and I have to repeat that so many times. Maybe those who have lowered the other sounds so much can't hear us anymore :D Anyway, I'm happy to provide the corrected ogg files if that helps, it takes a few seconds to do it. 1 System specs: Win7 x64 | CPU: i7-4770K | RAM: 16 GB | GPU: GTX 980 Ti 6 GB | Thrustmaster HOTAS | MFG rudder pedals | SATA3 SSD | TrackIR
Double Dutch Posted May 29, 2021 Posted May 29, 2021 (edited) 3 years later and it is still inaudible!! (and I am actually sitting quite far from my screen so I can't read the text ) Edited May 29, 2021 by Double Dutch ----- Don't practise till you got it right. Practise till you don't do it wrong
Redglyph Posted June 19, 2021 Author Posted June 19, 2021 (edited) If I remember well, some of the words were very strangely pronounced too, so I suppose it's worth redoing the audio anyway. It's nice the engine now sounds much more convincing, that's the most important after all. GoodHope Posted June 26, 2021 Posted June 26, 2021 So I just went from using a USB headset to using a 3.5mm jack headset and now suddenly I can't hear the instructor voices. I can't even hear Wags' voice overs in the quick missions (I'll fight anyone who tries to silence Wags). I've set the World and In-Cockpit sounds from 50% to Zero--nothing, Nada, zilch. I switched to the 3.5mm jack because it is the ONLY way to get my buttkicker to work (I've tried EVERYTHING and the story is too long so it doesn't belong in this thread). This is really frustrating...
ED Team Solution NineLine Posted July 22, 2021 ED Team Solution Posted July 22, 2021 Hey guys, while I dont think the volumes are horrible, they are not great, and I can understand where the accent might throw it as well. So with that, I have requested that we re-do the Spitfire training missions after the Mossie is out the door. We have new guys doing missions and such, so I think we can improve on all aspects of training here. Thanks! 1 Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**
