Invicta Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Sorry, didn't know Loman could handle rar as well as zip :P
Trident Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 That sure is a remarkably pretty model walmis, thank you for taking the time to make it! One small request though, could you perhaps make the leading edge root extensions and the cannon muzzle a bit more rounded? The rest of your model looks so gorgeous that these low-detail areas stick out a bit.
Ice Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Just installed the mod. From the screenshots Mustang put up it looks Bloody Awesome! Great Job!
Colt40Five Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Check my post in the F-15 project thread. Old skins don't work right. and when (if) you release an updated version please no skins or GUI change. I'll be watching for an update. Great work so far!! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Pilotasso Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Check my post in the F-15 project thread. Old skins don't work right. and when (if) you release an updated version please no skins or GUI change. I'll be watching for an update. Great work so far!! The reason why Walmis included extra skins was because the comminity asked him to. I asked for more cammos options, I would be happy with the stock textures PLUS the extra cammo slots only. Thats for the purpose of adding other skins later, if not, continue using the standard ones without having to MOD the MOD. Detail: look the canopy?! ...because you have the no scratches mod. reseting to default again cures the problem albeit at the cost of FPS. .
Shaman Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Fantastic job with this model, man! And it has some damage model too! One thing, though. Please create lite modman package so you'll fully please the crowd that doesn't want any extra GUI, skins, meinit file. I personally dislike those very dark grey cammos and Panthers' skins, but that's my taste and let's not discuss about it. I'd choose extra loman packages for GUI, meinit files, skins etc. No rush. I'll do entire installation manually to get rid of extra weight. 51PVO Founding member (DEC2007-) 100KIAP Founding member (DEC2018-) :: Shaman aka [100☭] Shamansky tail# 44 or 444 [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] 100KIAP Regiment Early Warning & Control officer

And what's the problem with panther skins? They dont overwrite anything, and are addition to the stock ones. And meinit modifications are necesary, because it updates the pylon locations.
Pilotasso Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Walmis, a suggestion here: Any overlaping polygonal surfaces such as the intakes could be textured as well. Sometimes I see blanked areas in there. .
SuperKungFu Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 First Off, Congrats Walmis on this release...its freakin awesome! But I just wanted to point out a couple things that you may or may not want to fix: 1.) The whole issue with the no canopy, you should try to find a way to make it compatible with the no scratch mod because that's pretty important since it saves a lot of fps. 2.) The new model looks beautiful, but IMHO is the nose slanting a bit down? For example, this is the layout that I think you used Now this is your model Notice how the bottom part has a larger downward slope. I dunno if that’s accurate but I think it could be straighten out a little. And as for the top of the cone, it should have a nice downward slop rather than a small curve. Hope this doesn’t offend you in any way, it’s just a healthy gesture. Its still a freakin sexy model though. Also is it possible to fix the canopy glass model as well, see in the layout above that the glass curves like right on top of the frame that connects the HUD area to the back. Your model glass curves near the center of the glass, could you move that a bit forward. 3.) Referring back to the layout above, it seems the airbrake is only at the 20 degree position. I can’t get it to go any higher even with speeds below 330 knots. 4.) The engine air intake exhaust doesn’t seem to move a lot. The old model, the Air intake in extreme down position is close to the center of the fuselage, the new model mainly stays in the top position. I will have to do more testing on this to check if its with lock on’s code or is it with the new model. Either way you can check your animation to see if it can go down to the extreme position. Less important issues: 5.) In the mission loadout screen, the red triangles that signify which pylon you are on is missing. Not really a big deal but just want to point that out 6.) Maybe in the future someone can create a new texture that’s fully compatible with this new model. I’ve seen a couple post where their skins have a few missing areas on the new model which is understandable since it’s a new shape. But just want to point out that if anyone is going to create a new model, maybe add textures to the inside of the cockpit around the pilot so its not just a gray area That’s the end of my rant, again, its just some pointers that I would like to see fixed. If not then its still cool. Walmis, you still made one heck of an impact of the lock on community and I thank you for that. Hope all this doesn't sound too picky. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Ice Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 For those of you who arent complaining about my skins. I will be working on the templates this week to fill in some of the gaps due to the slightly different shape of the mod.
Pilotasso Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 A suggestion here, after making them use bright to make them into 16 bit. We have to take in acount that by accumulating MOD's and skins there will be alot of memory waste. While some have plenty of raw power for that, others do not. Note: I havent inspected your skins to see if this is the case, just suggesting. .
AJ.eightFive Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Congrats! Excellent job walmis. I'm truly amazed how dedicated you have been to this project. Don't be discouraged by all the details people are going to point out, with such an ambitious project there are bound to be things that go overlooked the first time around. Keep up the good work!

And it's a shame that the model doesn't support old skins like Walmis said it would. There's alot of excellent old skins out there that won't ever be converted over. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Understand that it's extremely difficult to UV small bits and pieces to the old textures. And consider this release as a beta.

Wow, you want some cheese to go with that whine??? The man gave us a splendid brand new model and is working as hard as he can to fix any issues. Give him a break already. So some old skins aren't supported. boooohooooooo............ Don't like it? Uninstall, simple.
Colt40Five Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Bite me Protos...and I have uninstalled until the next release. Even if old skins don't ever work, this is an awesome contribution to lockon. Thanks for all your hard work Walmis! [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Ice Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Looks like somoene misquoted a post in here from HL. Ive edited my post. Anyway if you dont like the skins dont use em :smilewink: The good news is that we now have more skins to choose from and can make them whatever you like.
GGTharos Posted November 12, 2006 Posted November 12, 2006 Not just more but practically unlimited. This F-15 mod uses the same skinning scheme as the Su-25T Meaning: You can add as many skins as you like to this F-15 without having to ovewrite! :) I think what we could really use is some sort of Meinit mod tool and a database of say, squadron skins so they can all be inserted uniformly and everyone who chooses to download and install them will see the skins when someone else is 'wearing' them. We could even come up with a scheme to use the CLSIDs such that each squad ha say, 1000 skins easy. And heck, -now- every pilot could have their name written onto their canopy railing and everyone will see it correctly! :D The only problem with this is, of course, that it would require a 10mb skin per person just for a name ... [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda

They dont overwrite anything, and are addition to the stock ones. Ah good news.. I don’t have a problem with any skins but I do prefer to fly “historically” accurate skins and I assumed that these were designed specifically for your knew model. Well done with the entire package I cant even imagine the time and patience it must have taken to put it all together.. Once again well done and your efforts are greatly appreciated. Cozmo.
