Vulcan will allow DCS to use more CPU cores. DCS already uses two. So, it's not all that helpful, by the sound of it. :/

It is the sound running on another core witch is just a fraction of it's real power. Your logic is wrong. :music_whistling:

And your spelling is wrong. As well as your logic, which frankly doesn't make sense.

An educated response would be greatly appreciated. Does Vulcan do more than allow DCS to run on more than two cores? What benefits would there be for us dual core users?

FYI, the correct spelling is Vulkan.

The clouds pictured in the more recent 2.5 images are simply updated versions of the current cloud system. We think this intermediate version looks much better than what we have now, and will serve nicely as a the new cloud technology is developed.

Thanks

next to the release of 2.5, i am excited for a new cloud tech in the future!!

1.5 / 2.1 clear sky is getting so old.

defered shading has brought life in to the DCS, i truly look forward to improved atmosphere environment, where just the simulation of a basic take off/ landing would be realistically awe inspiring. who knows, maybe we will get canopy rain, like in the cars such as project cars.

it sub-conciously pains me to see all the DCS user cinematic videos made, and most video are a clear skies, then to watch real life aviation videos such as aireal refueling, and you can see relatively insignificant puff clouds, all over, which to me is part of real life!

but have to say, the 2.5 screenshots running around look amazing!

Canopy rain effects are WIP, I believe. :D I'd like to use the wipers on the KA50 and Mi-8.

Caucuses looks ready for release in my eyes, fingers crossed we get our hands on this soon so we can give the release version some love again.

Happy Bug Hunting!

Those pictures look great but I have GTX 750ti 2gb. will I be still able to play on medium/low settings, or at all?

Go and check Nevada or Normandy. It should be almost the same performance as it use the same technology ;)

I do have an even older Gainward GeForce GTX 680 (2GB) purchased in December 2012. Nevada works fine for me with medium settings and the Mirage 2000 or A-10C.

But I also do have some concerns looking at the screenshots with the sheer amount of trees in the Caucasus map...

Nevertheless, my experience tells me that DCS with either Nevada (2.0) or Caucasus (1.5) is way less demanding on the rig performance compared to other flight simulators (FSX, Prepar3D). Kudos to Eagle Dynamics!

DCS is fresh breath. If you get 60 fps in DCS, in other simulator you will get 30 to 20 fps. DCS is the most up to date simulator.

New Images!

For the updated Caucasus map for DCS World 2.5, we’ve spent a LOT of time and effort to add a lot more detail to the world. In fact, we are right against the edge of what our system memory specification can handle. This is particularly true from lower altitudes where it is more easy to see these details. This is why most of our updated Caucasus map images to date have been from lower altitudes. For today, we’d like to show off how the map looks from a nose-bleed altitudes of 20,000 feet. The biggest changes from the 1.5 map you may note are the terrain projected shadows, realistic haze, view distances, forest rendering distances and coverage, and the improved elevation mesh resolution (no more pyramid mountains).

Merge was never planned for tomorrow, they stated it would be ready in a few weeks. So think this month or next to be safe.
