turned out to be faster to cancel the order and get one from BestBuy. Shipped, in transit. Excited.

 

I had troubles with my best buy fast chk out so i never got the one online...Site still shows none avail instore or online..

 

Oculas is backed up so i have no choice but to wait on the sale priced one..

I took the plunge too, just ordered mine ten minutes ago :) My graphic card may be the weak point of my rig (GTX 970), but never mind, it should work until I can afford something bigger :smilewink:

Just got an email from oculas..Tryin to process my order but couldnt cause of my banks security..Got it fixed so im guessing oculas has more stock and will be shipping out very soon..

 

SWEET!!!....Got 8 more gigs of ram and a gtx 1070 xtreme gamer card to test drive..

Even got some stuff for nausea(dr gave me some incase cancer treatment make me hurl) to so..

 

Add to that im 50% finished the process of buyin a house..Hopefully finalized next week,maybe it will be awhile before i get to try it out..Darn..

Congrats on the pending house purchase, hope all goes well! I purchased a few homes throughout my lifetime, and each one was a very exciting experience. My last one, will be my last. We purchased our retirement home about a year and a half ago, so won't be moving again. Glad that is all behind me now though.

 

Enjoy that new Rift whenever you do get to try it out, you are in for a real treat!!

Just seeing if anyone is running an i7-3770K 3.5, 16GB RAM, and a 1060 6GB how that works with the oculus. Tried one at best buy of course they didnt have any and want one but the guy i was talking to really didnt know and was just a sales guy. I want to bite the bullet at the same time just wait for next gen of whatever with better resolution.

 

I have that processor OC'd to 4.6. Just received an email from Oculus that my Rift order was processed and to be looking for my shipping/tracking info soon. Just ordered last week so not bad I'm guessing.

 

So I will let you know how it goes if interested. I do have some system differences than what you wanted to compare. I dont expect any real problems. Rest of rig in Spoiler.

 

And I do expect it will take some fiddling to get it as good as it can be since I am the VR Noob.

 

Just preparing for a pukefest...heck the first time I used TIR it made me dizzy so I expect to have a tough time with VR.

 

Honestly, I dont have a clue! Ha!

 

I was planning to wait for the next Gen But I could not stand it any longer.

Thats a loooong wait.

Honestly I don't get nauseous unless I'm trying to read the dials or gauges. Oh and we'll one time I stalled and went spinning out of control. Gave me that roller coaster drop feeling and I had to take the headset off because I couldn't handle it haha.

 

It's a lot of fun but it take time to find settings that work for you graphically. I'm running pixel density of 2.0 but honestly 1.8 would do fine too because visually it's not any more readable. 1.6 was bearable but I stuck to 2.0 for now.

 

Enjoy it! My touch controllers came today so I'm going to set them up and play some lone echo as well.

House failed my brothers and i inspection...Cpl very soft spots in the floor,Structure issues in the foundation,mold...Guessing to bring it into the semi modern ages was $20,000 plus the purchase and without know the costs to fix up foundation...Called the owner and bailed..

 

So now i just get the rift to look forward to..

Ill believe that when it gets here..Gotta be somebody(other than sales tax)haven their hand out wanting $$...Made oculas aware of that b4 purchase..They say thats the special..

My Rift & Touch bundle arrived today and is sitting on my desk as I have to wait until tomorrow evening for my new rig to arrive, by the time I install DCS again and get everything setup it will be Sunday before I take to the virtual skies, it's sitting on my table here teasing me!! Ahhhghh

My rift bundle arrived today..Gonna be next week before i can touch it,DAMN WORK lol..

Perfect time to do a clean up and reinstall everything fresh,install my new gtx 1070 xtreme gamer vid card and the new ssd and start my training all over again..Not touched my dcs in freakin ages..

 

They told me that there were nooooo extra charges like shipping or duty and they were dead on...Not even provincial sales taxes so their $549 tag is all you pay..

Wow, Just got my new rift going. Best words I can find is... it is like the Holodeck on the Star Ship Enterprise.

 

Friend and I fooled around in VR tonight for my first run . We both just received everything needed a day apart. Played a game where we drew on each other with pistols western style. Perused some apps and entertainment stuff just familiarizing ourselves with this tech.

 

Then it happened, i reset my perimeter for my chair and loaded DCS 2.1. It puts you in a hanger standing beside a full sized F15. Just unreal. Like you can reach out and touch it. Yeah, I tried.

 

I went into multiplayer and flew a P51 in an escort mission. As soon as I got into the cockpit my jaw just dropped and hung open. There I am surrounded by a 3D cockpit. Stunning is all I can think of. Just stunning.

 

Took off and just enjoyed the view outside which is not bad. I flew the waypoints at a few hundred feet taking in the scenery. The sensation of speed low over Normandy is noticeable. I had her trimmed out at 45 MP and 2700 rpms. Hands off if you want.

 

I just cannot get over how detailed the 3d cockpit is From all the toggle switches sticking out to the springs and cables on the pedals and throttle. And just being surrounded by the pit itself. I cannot describe what we are seeing adequately. Looking out the canopy at the wing. Wow!

 

This is a whole new ball game.

This makes DCS a whole new deal for me.

 

I cant imagine how good the F18 is going to be with the rift. I cant wait! Carrier Ops!

 

On a side note being run down by a T-Rex was quite hair-raising. Roger...I caught myself screaming out a couple of times

 

All this looking so good and real is uncanny and we haven't even tweaked it yet.

 

I never dreamed of this kind of immersion. Just stunning...

 

Hats off to ED for embracing VR. It can only get better from here.

 

Seriously, Oculus Rift. yeah Highly recommended. Get you one. The current deal is pretty good. What cool tech.

 

And just scratching the surface. Gonna be a fun ride.

 

Runs great on my rig. No complaints yet! No nausea, no vertigo even with aerobatics...Yet!

I have had rift for several days now and yes it is impressive but

Give it a little more time. It is a far more realistic experience than flying on a 2D monitor. Some things will be harder than they were before, but other things are much more realistic.

Well $549 cdn is not $399 usd its $433....so it may be as stated. This confused me as well, but will probs take the plunge :music_whistling:
