Capn kamikaze Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 It seems that nothing fundamental ever gets fixed, there are bugs especially with the AI still that have been known about for years.
HiJack Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 Yes of course it is important to report all you think is a bug. There may be many reasons why things don’t get fixed but I think one huge one is game engine limitations. As you know ED is working on the new 2.5 version now so it is natural that it can take some time to sort things out.

NeilWillis Posted October 15, 2017 Posted October 15, 2017 It seems that nothing fundamental ever gets fixed' date=' there are bugs especially with the AI still that have been known about for years.[/quote'] If ED get vague statements like the one you have made, of course bugs won't get fixed. If you can be specific about particular bugs, then make a bug report. If you just want to air your general discontent, then you certainly won't be helping to fix anything. The best approach is to find the thread in which your specific bug was first reported, and add a post there saying you are still identifying issues. If you can't find a thread, then open one - a separate one for each specific bug. There are clear guidelines for bug reporting on Bignewy's signature block. Take the time to read than, and you may be of help in getting bugs ironed out.
Capn kamikaze Posted October 16, 2017 Author Posted October 16, 2017 If you can be specific about particular bugs, then make a bug report. You mean like poor wingman AI, and poor tanker AI etc, they've been reported for years. 1
QuiGon Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 You mean like poor wingman AI' date=' and poor tanker AI etc, they've been reported for years.[/quote'] Just like other bugs that have been taken care of. First, ED has not unlimited capabilities and second, there are some things that might be difficult or even impossible to fix without changing core elements of the entire DCS engine. It's not always as easy as some people might think. Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted October 16, 2017 ED Team Posted October 16, 2017 Usually bugs get issued a priority from block down to trivial and are dealt with in that order. However some changes require new code, that can not be implemented until other code has been merged, some code may require a version not available to the public yet so has to be delayed. My point is you don't know why your favourite bug or feature is held up, you just have to have faith ED is doing everything the best they can, and from my privileged position I can tell you they are doing a great job. So it may seem to you nothing gets done, but nothing could be further from the truth, a massive amount of work is getting done by the team. Forum rules - DCS Crashing? Johnny_Rico Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 Don't loose hope mate It is important to report bugs, (even though sometimes it feels like writing a note to santa and throwing it up the chimney) Reporting bugs it is all we can do to help get stuff fixed But, ED could do a lot more as regards feedback and what is being bug tracked BIS have a very good community feedback bug tracker so you can see whats already been raised/report and being worked on Sadly with ED they do not even have a webpage that lists open/reported issues ? This would be a good start so that the same thing does not get reported several times METAR weather for DCS World missions Guide to help out new DCS MOOSE Users -> HERE Havoc Company Dedicated server info Connect IP: 94.23.215.203 SRS enabled - freqs - Main = 243, A2A = 244, A2G = 245 Please contact me HERE if you have any server feedback or METAR issues/requests
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted October 16, 2017 ED Team Posted October 16, 2017 The internal bug tracker is for ED only, this will not change. As moderators we try to get around to each thread, sometimes we get busy with testing or real life but we do our best as volunteers. Forum rules - DCS Crashing? lemoen Posted October 16, 2017 Posted October 16, 2017 We should report bugs, this helps ED. What would help us (the users) would be some sort of feedback system from ED, that will acknowledge that a bug report has been seen and maybe some sort of update that will set our expectations. I think the current image a lot of people has is that we report a bug, it get's lost in the noise, and never gets fixed. This is likely not true, as BIGNEWY says, but we have no way of knowing. Asking us to 'have faith' is not fair to us, giving reasonable feedback doesn't cost ED anything.

Yep a webpage or forum post listing reported issues would be a great help Having it link in this page pointing to the forum post reporting it would also help eg: Version - Title ---------------------------------------------- Status ---------- URL of report 1.5.7 ---- 1.5.7.10175.378 - weapons.dll crash ----------- Reported --------- https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=194085 METAR weather for DCS World missions Guide to help out new DCS MOOSE Users -> HERE Havoc Company Dedicated server info Connect IP: 94.23.215.203 SRS enabled - freqs - Main = 243, A2A = 244, A2G = 245 Please contact me HERE if you have any server feedback or METAR issues/requests
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted October 16, 2017 ED Team Posted October 16, 2017 As moderators we mark bugs as [REPORTED] in the title and occasionally we may give a small update in the thread of the status of the bug, we can not do this all of the time due to NDA. Some bugs get reported by testers but as only moderators can change titles it may seem it has been missed when it has not. If you feel something has been missed PM one of us.
