HPO Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Hi, Finally some time again to draw something :) I made a start with the drawings of the electronics, first the ministick for the radar skew. Of course it's not in it's final position but you get the idea. :joystick: 1
HPO Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 To keep you updated, a bigger update this time :D I've been busy with the radar skew button, designing the housing for the ministick and such. 1 Complete assembled in the stick. 2 Exploded view 01 3 Exploded view 02 4 Time to build some test parts in the stereolithografie machine. (This time in the machine with the transparant resin). 5 The completed parts, the stick and the rubber are allready spraypainted in this picture. 6 Offcourse to test the rubber we have to make a silicon mould of the stereolithografie part, so it's time to prepare this part for mould building. 7 Completed a simple casing to cast the silicon. 8 Casting the composite silicon with the silicon dispenser machine. 9 After the silicon is hardened, we can open the mould with an operating knife, the wave patterns and the metal rods are there to insure a good alignment of the mould layers. 10 After the mould is heated to 70 degrees celsius we can cast the composite polyurethane rubber into the silicon mould in the vacuum chamber, we are looking through a 6 cm thick glass in this picture. 11 And after hardening in the oven for an hour at 70 degrees celsius we can demould the casting and cut off the casting tree. Here you can see a complete assembled "Radar skew" 12 Another view, this time with the button rotated to the upper left corner, the rubber seems to do it's job :) Thanks for watching, see you :joystick: 2
Fjordmonkey Posted July 31, 2007 Posted July 31, 2007 Excellent! Can't wait to see the finished product! Regards Fjordmonkey Clustermunitions is just another way of saying that you don't like someone. I used to like people, then people ruined that for me.

galgaze Posted August 2, 2007 Posted August 2, 2007 HPO and team, you are in serius danger, there a people in this forum who has access to real su-25, and are willing to take a full throttle air strike, in order to get one of those babies you are making... I must say I am compelled to offer my house as a safehouse, for those, er... for you of course!!! Hehe Anyways keep up the outstanding work!!! and please keep us updated!

Maraudeur Posted August 8, 2007 Posted August 8, 2007 Even if I read, I still cannot believe what my eyes are seeing. It's really a state-of-the-art job!! Sorry for asking it again, but will it be possible to adapt this on a X45 base. I meen of course, just using the electronic part, as I intend to use this stick to replace the original one I've already extended and twisted 30° left. I just need to adapt the stick on a pipe and pass the cables through it. Do you also plan to build a "double" throttle handle? I just can't wait for having it in the hands. :joystick: System Configuration: Windows 10 64bits, Intel I5-3570K, 8Go DDR3-1333Mhz, GeForce GTX 560Ti LE DCS-FC3 Version 1.5.3
Joe Kurr Posted August 9, 2007 Author Posted August 9, 2007 At the moment we're concentrating on a version for the Cougar, because it already has the ability to attach another grip. We have looked at other sticks as well (Suncom, X45, etc), but adapting these is much more complex because of all the electronics in the grip, which we would have to fit into our model. To do this, we would have to reverse-engineer the electronics, and make a different circuit board for each set. There are plans for a dual throttle, but first we want to finish the stick, and then we'll see what we can do for the throttle. This may take a while ;) 1 Dutch Flanker Display Team | LLTM 2010 Tiger Spirit Award
Maraudeur Posted August 9, 2007 Posted August 9, 2007 Yes I am aware that it'll be really a tricky busyness to adapt it to the X45. In fact I was just thinking of a bare stick, leaving the opportunity to it's owner to adapt it by itself on whatever he wishes. For example, I adapted my X45 stick by lengthing the stick with a metallic pipe, and establishing the connection with spare electric cables. It would so be simple for me to use a bare version of your stick and to rebuilt the electric connection with the buttons and coolie hats. (2 coolies and 5 swithches are connected to the top of the X45, this should do the job) Anyway, an other possibility is also to use IO Mastercard and USB card from Opencockpit.org. I already use them for my SU-27 cockpit, and it also affords to manage 4 analog axes and many switches. 2 axes may be dedicated to the stick and the 2 others to the twin throttle :smartass: In fact, all I need is the levers, I'll do the linking by myself, and there is no need for me to adapt it directly on a Cougar Hotas (for I do not have one:music_whistling:) System Configuration: Windows 10 64bits, Intel I5-3570K, 8Go DDR3-1333Mhz, GeForce GTX 560Ti LE DCS-FC3 Version 1.5.3
Specnaz Posted August 11, 2007 Posted August 11, 2007 Same thing for me, interested by just the equipped grip with "going outside" wires to be soldered on other hardware...
Slaunyeh Posted August 14, 2007 Posted August 14, 2007 OMG Amazing, drooollong on the Stick, now if Thrusmaster could support this for cougar it would be awesome.
Red Hammer Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Can you show me the latest photo? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]
Rockwulf Posted September 5, 2007 Posted September 5, 2007 Hey guys, you do a very amazig work here. I've never seen such an realistic rebuilt. But at all I've got some questions for you. At First how did you solve the problem Switch to Push Button, I saw the little image on the 3rd page or so which displayed a little circute. If it's possible could you send me more detailed information about the parts and may be a plan to rebuilt it? I'm going to built my own little homepit, really smaler as yours... :-( If i had more money I would buy one of yours :P But I can't solve the damm problem with the switches and the keyboard connector. Now the second question is, how much will be one of your Pits included with shipping to Germany :P? I look forward to hearing from you soon. Best regards, Rock@wulf PS: I'm still learning english i hope you can manage my mistakes:P
