HPO Posted April 16, 2008 Posted April 16, 2008 Did you make it due-recoil? Like X52-pro. Well I'm actually busy working that out right now :), if it's gone work I don't know yet.
Alex_rcpilot Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Hi there, it's awesome to see the nice work you guys have done there. Way to go!!!! Is it difficult to find a place to have the PVC material lasered? And regarding the digital printout, what type if device can provide this quality and accuracy? I'd like to learn more about the way you handle the electronics. Coz as I know, a hell lot of components are involved, do you guys hardwire key combinations to achieve the desired output? Have you ever thoght of inviting someone in to develope some digital demultiplexing interface together with the instrument indication output driver? Switches, buttons and other input components can be scanned with a parallel to serial shift register, and then fed into a microcontroller or microprocessor with USB device capabilities. The firmware can be written to make the chip recognized as a standard HID(like a keyboard). Data from the PC indicating output status can be demutiplexed to each LED, needle, etc with serial to parallel shift registers. Guess this will provide more flexibility, just in case any modification is required in future.

I think it will be either a keyboard device (lots of buttons) or a joystick (less buttons, but also analog axes). For the joystick-approach I already have a working test-setup, based on the MJoy project by Mindaugas. But our first priority is to get the stick finished, so I'm currently working on a version of the Cougar PCB to fit our stick. When that is done, I can again concentrate on getting the switches on the panels to work. 1 Dutch Flanker Display Team | LLTM 2010 Tiger Spirit Award

I got this confusion - do you also implement USB interface on M8/M16? I guess just mux/demux coz AVR doesn't have USB SIE embeded within. So is it what you're ganna do with the keyboard? Hooking it up to the AVR? I'll spend more time reading previous posts while you guys keep working on the structure. Are you guys living around each other? I don't think it's practical for people from places like Rio de Janeiro, Seattle, Osaka etc to co-operate like this. I would like to join you guys if I was living somewhere nearby, but since it's not the truth, I'm keep an eye on the progress and offer some online help if needed, and if I know the answer. Currently I'm still learning about the USB protocol through the hard way - a couple of demo boards at hand while there's no much time for this kind of "extracurricular" study. I have a bunch of AVR, MCS-51, PIC, MSP430 boards at hand for general applications. For USB learning objective I use the Cypress CY7C68013 board. There's also a S3C2410 board with 480X272 at 16:9 TFT which I can play around. So if you guys got any interesting idea, we may try to figure it out together. Would be really fun to do this. Anyway stick to your first priority at the moment. Keep it up!
Maraudeur Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 I do use the system found there: http://www.opencockpits.com/index.php?newlang=english It's cheap, easy to operate, simple to wire and program, and it's really extremely efficient. I'm using a versatile combinason of 2 IO MasterCards linked on a USB ExpansionCard. It works fine with LockOn and permits the implementation of functions that are not available in lOCKoN. As asked, here is a photography of my front panel, the pit is "dismanteled" as I was preparing it for a LAN party... ALL the lights and switches you can see there are functionnal and in compliance with LockOn ;) 2 System Configuration: Windows 10 64bits, Intel I5-3570K, 8Go DDR3-1333Mhz, GeForce GTX 560Ti LE DCS-FC3 Version 1.5.3
Alex_rcpilot Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 Hi there Maraudeur, I like the system shown in the site. Pretty handy and realistic for DIYers. Looking forward to hearing more about this project.

Joe Kurr Posted February 6, 2009 Author Posted February 6, 2009 It's been a while since I last posted here, but I haven't left the project! :) In fact, I've taken another step towards our working cockpit. I now have the K8055 USB interface kit from Velleman, which supports both digital and analog inputs and outputs. Today I received the kit and soldered it together, tomorrow I'll start with the software. When I'm done with this, I should have 5 working switches: - Gear up / down - Flaps up / down - Airbrake open / close - Left engine start / stop - Right engine start / stop I'm also planning to use the eight digital outputs to get some of the warning lights working, maybe even nav lights for the pit, linked to the in-game nav-lights :) The K8055 comes with a simple test program written in C#, which can be used to check the basic functionality of the assembled board. When I'm done with the software I'll post some more details and images. Dutch Flanker Display Team | LLTM 2010 Tiger Spirit Award
wasserfall Posted November 19, 2009 Posted November 19, 2009 (edited) About time Yes i know it's about time for an upgrade:) but the project still lives but at a slow pace. This weekend i will take some pictures of the new add on's of my panel, and post them as soon as possible. in one of my last posts i made a start with the HUD base. Now it's time to tackle the problem of making the HUD itself, with the option of making a functioning one! i don't know if this is supported in LOFC? who can help me out on this? Anyway, after studying ton's of pictures and some references:) i made a drawing in Adobe Illustrator as a teeser i made a screenshot of it. Now didn't i know someone who can CNC this:) Keep wathching!! wasserfall Posted November 21, 2009 Posted November 21, 2009 (edited) Surprise, here are the parts that are cnc'd, and they look fantastic! The dark grey parts are PVC The grey part is aluminum 1 mm thick And the transparancies are clear acrylic 5mm thick. Now i have to put the pieces together. btw, does anyone know if the data from the hud and the hdd is exported (lua)? i like to make it a working hud if possible. Cheers! Maraudeur Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 Unfortunately, no data concerning the HUD are exported by the LUA, nor for the MDF. The nly datas you get are the ones concerning the IAS, Altitude, or radio-altitude, and some other miscanelleous datas concerning the targets, navigation, and type of weapon selected, but nothing enough to rebuilt a fully operational HUD... :-C Anyway, you did a wonderfull job, congratulation. System Configuration: Windows 10 64bits, Intel I5-3570K, 8Go DDR3-1333Mhz, GeForce GTX 560Ti LE DCS-FC3 Version 1.5.3
JG14_Smil Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 very nice job! Hopefully, they are still working on a PCIP and it will include an exported Hud for you.
Maraudeur Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 (edited) Indeed !!!!! Are they also working on an export of the MFD for LockOn FC 2.0??? Edited November 22, 2009 by Maraudeur System Configuration: Windows 10 64bits, Intel I5-3570K, 8Go DDR3-1333Mhz, GeForce GTX 560Ti LE DCS-FC3 Version 1.5.3
wasserfall Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 (edited) So at the moment it will not be exported. Just have to wait and see, but i leave the option open to make it work. Some update: The trickyest part was to bend the aluminium at it's correct folds, it took me halve a day but all went well:) and Here i have put the pvc parts together, they fit perfectly! and Thanks for watching, Cheers, Wasserfall Edited November 10, 2014 by wasserfall 2 Intel Core i5-9600K, Gigabyte Z390 AORUS PRO, 16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 WINDFORCE 8G
