Swetrekki Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 looks sweet, a neat trick when bending is to first mill out a thin line where you what to bend the metal, naturally you only remove a very small amount of metal when you do this and only on what will be the inside of the sheet metal structure.
Wilde Posted November 22, 2009 Posted November 22, 2009 I can't believe it! I have been googling the internet for a good Su-27 pit for almost 2 years without any success, only to find the most marvelous one right here in this forum! To not see the forest for the trees... Both the panel and the stick are really beautiful. Looking forward to buying the kits when you're finished with them (if I can afford it that is ;)). Rep inbound for all three of you. :D

Aeroscout Posted December 8, 2009 Posted December 8, 2009 That is awesome! Do you have dimensions and plans which could be released to the community? and Do you know how to focus the HUD correctly and make it really work? I'd love to know how that's done. Really impressive. How's the pit as a whole coming along? Aero DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices
wasserfall Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 Thought that data wasn't available for the Hud system, but now i saw a video of a working Simmeters hud in Lofc! Does anyone know how it is been done? The video: Intel Core i5-9600K, Gigabyte Z390 AORUS PRO, 16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 WINDFORCE 8G
EtherealN Posted December 10, 2009 Posted December 10, 2009 (edited) It is my understanding that it should be possible to use LEAVU to collect HUD data and feed it to a projector. I don't know how much work that would require since the people developing LEAVU are mainly working on datalinks and MFDs at the moment, but Yoda said (when I asked) that it should definitely be capable of drawing a HUD. So then all you'd really need to fix would be a display device to fit into your HUD rig. No clue if that's actually how they did here, but the information should be available through the LUA ownship export even if there might be a non-trivial amount of coding left to make it draw a HUD for you. Positive thing with it though is that it can work on a secondary machine and thereby not "steal" a screen from you. http://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?p=797780 Be warned that that is a mammoth thread, but it's a potential place to ask for guidelines and confirmation that my understanding of it's HUD-display capability was correct. :) EDIT: I'm told the required work would be a couple days, no more than that, given good knowledge of Java and a good understanding of how LEAVU works. So that might indeed be something to look at. edrom Posted September 23, 2010 Posted September 23, 2010 Thought that data wasn't available for the Hud system, but now i saw a video of a working Simmeters hud in Lofc! The video: Hello, With LOFC2, it is possible to have the HUd information with fct Lua : LoGetSightingSystemInfo() see here : http://www.3rd-wing.net/index.php?showtopic=8416&st=0 PS : what about the posibility to buy the stick for cougar?
Joe Kurr Posted September 26, 2010 Author Posted September 26, 2010 Sounds interesting, I'll see if I can come up with something to re-create the hud with the information passed by those objects. The stick is on hold at the moment, mainly because of a very busy work schedule for the guy working on it. Dutch Flanker Display Team | LLTM 2010 Tiger Spirit Award

wasserfall Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 (edited) Upgrade!! Yes it has been ages, but there still is some progress!!! As it can take ages for DCS Su27 to come out (if ever) i decided to build my cockpit with limited functionality (as not al the buttons and switches are available from within FC2). Well let's start to disable my panel as it was. The wooden frame will be replaced with a 3mm thick aluminium one because i will use a lcd monitor at the back of the panel (i use LOVP for the instruments). i made some more pictures, but unfortunately i formatted my card!!! so i have limited pictures of how i made the cockpit. For the frame of the cockpit i used Mdf painted in Yellow (aircraftprimer) as you can see on this cosy picture. i did need a seat, so i tryed to make something that looks like a K36D ejectionseat. It is still in it's basic form and functional ( i mean i can sit on it:)) but in the future i will build it up as much as a K36 as i can. Next in grey primer. In the next days i post some more progress See ya Edited November 13, 2014 by wasserfall Intel Core i5-9600K, Gigabyte Z390 AORUS PRO, 16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro, Gigabyte GeForce RTX 2080 WINDFORCE 8G
Beerhunter Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Hi there, That looks fantastic. I have seen the pit live @ the FSweekend, and i can assure that is looking great. I have some picures , but i will give Wasserfall the honor to post them himself. Well done mate!! Beerhunter [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]:drink:: A barrel roll is unloading the beer for a hangar party!:
Maraudeur Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Very impressive work! I'm really keen of it. Anuway, the good new is that we may expect to have more datas exported by LUA with the FC3 announced by ED. I was like you waiting for informations about ED, and then I think that I'll start building my second version of my SU-27 pit, as I planned to have much more functionnalities than my firts one (I also use Gauge composer and SIOC). I would also be interested in the dimmensions of you front panel as my previous estimated ones were too narrow... wasserfall Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 (edited) Almost finished The next pictures show the cockpit in it's current state.Unfortunately i don't have pictures of how it was build (always check before deleting a memory card). For the instrumentation i build a Samsung 21,5 Inch lcd screen on the back of the panel (witch just fits in) Using LOVP (Lockon virtual panel) so the most instruments are working. (when in outside view i can actually fly the plane with the panel:)). And front panel. More to come. Cheers! Maraudeur Posted November 20, 2011 Posted November 20, 2011 (edited) Wow! Really impressive! My previous one was designed to be dismanteled easily, in the intention to use it during the 3rd Wing's Lans, but quite every swith was operative in the game. A that time it din't used a lcd screen for the instruments. I also made a extension for theX45 stick that I twisted 25° to the left to make it look as the real one. While preparing my cockpit #2 it prepared some gauges for the Gauge composer, they were operative but I stopped the production as there was a doubt on the LockOn survability (I must admit that I started to change my plans for a F18, shame on me!) The only gauge that was still stopping me was the anemomachmeter, but i ha some clues to solve that... wasserfall Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 (edited) IO board For knobs and switches i used a IO board from Arcaze witch has up to 40 inputs and/or 20 incremental encoders and up to 6 analogue inputs (potentiometrrs etc). See als this link: http://wiki.simple-solutions.de/en/products/Arcaze/Arcaze-USB Switches on this panel are all functional and have given an keyboard command (although not as in the real Su27 because FC2 doesn't have al outputs.) Gear lever is functional, as are most of the switches seen on this picture (trim/reset etc.). Engine on/off pushbuttons are functional as in real life, the switch is for electrical power. Switches on this side panel can be given a function to my desire (again FC3 has no output for it). Maybe FC3 has more lua output so i can assign more real knobs and switches. Any comment would be welcome.. Thanks for watching! Any comment would be welcome..! I'm not a specialiste but ther is my idea on For me, the most inportant on the type of project, is the communication between game and the hardware. these comunication have to be on the two direction : game <-> hardware. 1) one action on hardware -> one action on the game 2) a state of damage on the game -> one alarme (led) on your hardware for lofc, these concerne the TCP capability to send (socket host, socket port) with lua for the hardware, thes capability to conect with the soft/servor coming with it. for example, with sioc(opencockpit iocard), it is posible : the function lua send some data from the game to the sioc server with is conected to several hardware (input and output) I don't know for your IO board from Arcaze. have it a server tcp capability? if not, it's a shame to have only input on your hardware/cockpit ps : i don't have part on opencockpit, thi is only my experience :)
walker450 Posted November 25, 2011 Posted November 25, 2011 GREAT WORK!!!! This is now one of my favorite simpits!!!
