D4n Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 Can ED please buy one WMR headset (without controllers, thats even less than 380$) for a VR tester? My game now crashes even in main menu after some time (in VR). DCS Wishlist: 2K11 Krug SA-4 Ganef SAM, VR-TrackIR icons next to player names in score-chart PvP: 100+ manual player-kills with Stingers on a well known dynamic campaign server - 100+ VTOL FARP landings & 125+ hours AV-8B, F-14 crew, royal dutch airforce F-16C - PvP campaigns since 2013 DCS server-admins: please adhere to a common sense gaming industry policy as most server admins throughout the industry do. ED Team NineLine Posted April 11, 2018 ED Team Posted April 11, 2018 (edited) ED cant support every option out there, there are other head tracking options besides TrackIR and ED doesnt support them. They do there best, and many units do work. I wont say they wont, but dont expect it to come fast if they do. The leading VR headsets are supported right now. SkateZilla Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 (edited) AFAIK, Only Oculus Rift and HTC Vive are supported. WMR Devices use a Separate Driver for SteamVR, and Even that driver is in beta. Edited April 11, 2018 by SkateZilla Windows 10 Pro, Ryzen 2700X @ 4.6Ghz, 32GB DDR4-3200 GSkill (F4-3200C16D-16GTZR x2), ASRock X470 Taichi Ultimate, XFX RX6800XT Merc 310 (RX-68XTALFD9) 3x ASUS VS248HP + Oculus HMD, Thrustmaster Warthog HOTAS + MFDs
D4n Posted April 11, 2018 Author Posted April 11, 2018 and Even that driver is in beta. Do you have a source for that? Btw WMR is most affordable headset (Dell Visor was only 380 € without controllers), so expect most of the DCS VR players to have WMR headsets within the next few months. bugolax Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 The current version of the WMR for SteamVR driver is 0.1.1034, anything less than 1.0 always indicates a beta version. Having said that, I have a Samsung Odyssey and it works just fine. I know many others here are using WMR as well. Yes, Wags uses the Samsung one and seems to like it a lot, and I am looking at that one myself. Forum Rules • My YouTube • My Discord - NineLine#0440• **How to Report a Bug**

Fri13 Posted April 11, 2018 Posted April 11, 2018 The Windows Reality Mix headsets like Samsung are great as is for their simplicity etc. But that works very well for flight sims where we sit. As their controllers are not so flexible for many other VR titles where you operate controllers outside of the cameras field of view etc. But considering that one can pop-up the HMD makes it very interesting option and especially the no other sensors required for tracking. But what I would like to know is that if the WMR comes supported, does it have better performance than Rift and Vive when it comes to FPS? I have heard a lot that it gives magically much better frame rates. i7-8700k, 32GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 2x 2080S SLI 8GB, Oculus Rift S. i7-8700k, 16GB 2666Mhz DDR4, 1080Ti 11GB, 27" 4K, 65" HDR 4K.
D4n Posted April 11, 2018 Author Posted April 11, 2018 Samsung Odyssey STILL not available in Europe fyi. sze5003 Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 I'm using an odyssey and I also have a rift. The rift software works better with dcs. I think steam VR and wmr causes more use of your performance. It's still smooth and tracking is fine but on the odyssey since it pushes more pixels you can tell the performance of moving you head side to side causes some black to drag from side to side when you move your head too fast. Oddly enough I don't have this issue playing elite dangerous. There everything in VR is very smooth so it could also be dcs in general. Aries Posted April 16, 2018 Posted April 16, 2018 Samsung Odyssey STILL not available in Europe fyi. (germany at least) And it will not be... cause Samsung pulled it's PC division out of Europe... Let me give you a quote from inside Samsung: PC team in HQ launched this product, and this is not availble in EU region since Samsung PC is no longer available in EU! :sad_2: [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] ...the few, the proud, the remaining...
D4n Posted April 16, 2018 Author Posted April 16, 2018 Please link the where you found this. I've never heard of "Samsung PC". And I want to find out why they would leave the whole EU... Canada doesn't get Samsung branded PCs either, but it gets most of the same peripherals as Germany does. (for eg.; just check the country specific websites) Yet the Odyssey is still available.
