Jamesp1 Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 I'm considering pre-purchasing this, but don't want to if it's going to be missing important functionality for the next year. I don't suppose there's any roadmap of when they expect to add the most important features, or any estimate as to when it will be basically feature-complete? Also, will a campaign be included? I assume not as a description i saw says training missions will be included but didn't mention anything regarding a campaign.

ED won't do that as a vocal minority in the community get butt-hurt when dates are missed - even if by mere hours. It will take time until it is feature complete; I do not foresee it taking a year unless issues arise. AFAIK no campaign will be included with the Hornet, only training missions. Bloodhound57 Posted May 10, 2018 Posted May 10, 2018 Hey James, You can read from the list that SkateZilla provided. Wags has said in the livestream that the AGM-88 HARM is a priority weapon. I think we can expect that one first after the early access release. ____________________________________________________ PC: ASROCK Z370 Gaming K6 | Intel i7 8700K | GeForce 2080TI | 32GB GeSkill 3200 RAM | GeForce 2080TI | 500GB Samsung 850 EVO M.2 | 1TB Samsung 860 EVO M.2 ____________________________________________________ FLIGHT STUFF: Rift S | Warthog Base | Virpil Base | Hornet Grip | A-10 Grip | Cougar Grip | Virpil F-14 Grip | Cougar MFD's | A-10C UFC | Saitek Flight Panels | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals

While its most certainly true for unreleased products, I think Sold Early access should be treated differently when it comes to time until completion. And not just for ED but all devs. it should be a rough estimate and if dates are missed explanations should be provided "which usually reduce the but hurt a bit" Thats good industry practice when it comes to Early access
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted May 12, 2018 ED Team Posted May 12, 2018 While its most certainly true for unreleased products, I think Sold Early access should be treated differently when it comes to time until completion. And not just for ED but all devs. it should be a rough estimate and if dates are missed explanations should be provided "which usually reduce the but hurt a bit" Thats good industry practice when it comes to Early access While it would be nice to think it reduced the but hurt, if a date or timeline is given and is exceeded the but hurt is even worse, choosing the lesser of the two is always going to be the best option. probad Posted May 12, 2018 Posted May 12, 2018 Thats good industry practice when it comes to Early access allowing your audience directorship is a marketing practice, but never a good industry practice
some1 Posted May 12, 2018 Posted May 12, 2018 allowing your audience directorship is a marketing practice, but never a good industry practice Really? It's hard to find another industry where you pay in advance to the company that is supposed to deliver you the product, but they won't tell you when the job will be fished. Jazz_44 Posted May 12, 2018 Posted May 12, 2018 For me, I set Christmas 2019 as the date where the Hornet should be feature complete, similar to the A-10C that we have today.
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted May 12, 2018 ED Team Posted May 12, 2018 Really? It's hard to find another industry where you pay in advance to the company that is supposed to deliver you the product, but they won't tell you when the job will be fished. you have always been told, by the end of spring 2018. ED didn't just take your money and tell you nothing, so don't exaggerate. Forum rules - DCS Crashing? some1 Posted May 12, 2018 Posted May 12, 2018 (edited) you have always been told, by the end of spring 2018. ED didn't just take your money and tell you nothing, so don't exaggerate. That's for early access, not the finished product which is the topic of this thread. Bloodhound57 Posted May 12, 2018 Posted May 12, 2018 +1 BIGNEWY. I think that ED has been more than forthcoming and open with this project. Actually we have had a step by step chance to watch it develop. There have been no promises that ED has failed to keep. ____________________________________________________ PC: ASROCK Z370 Gaming K6 | Intel i7 8700K | GeForce 2080TI | 32GB GeSkill 3200 RAM | GeForce 2080TI | 500GB Samsung 850 EVO M.2 | 1TB Samsung 860 EVO M.2 ____________________________________________________ FLIGHT STUFF: Rift S | Warthog Base | Virpil Base | Hornet Grip | A-10 Grip | Cougar Grip | Virpil F-14 Grip | Cougar MFD's | A-10C UFC | Saitek Flight Panels | MFG Crosswind Rudder Pedals
ED Team BIGNEWY Posted May 12, 2018 ED Team Posted May 12, 2018 That's for early access, not the finished product which is the topic of this thread. My point is when ED have news to share they always do, they dont keep info from you, they just make sure the info is correct before sharing it. Forum rules - DCS Crashing? some1 Posted May 12, 2018 Posted May 12, 2018 Any my point is, it's not a usual "industry practice", whatever ED intentions are. I just answered to probad's post, not sure why you drag this into an argument. ED Team BIGNEWY Posted May 12, 2018 ED Team Posted May 12, 2018 ED have their way and it works for them, and I don't see it changing. Maybe the "Industry" is doing it wrong.
