Parking indicator

Well, I don't know about others, but I would like to have a parking indicator, since we don't have the ground crew that help pilots park their aircrafts. Something like the cargo indicator, that will help us align with the position when we started first.

Yes. You usually have to switch to 3rd person view to park nicely, which kills the immersion. And it would really help to park helis properly.

Perhaps the ATC could trigger a little man who starts frantically waving at you when you get near and helps you park. That would be awesome.. Isn't Heatblur working on animated carrier guys? Perhaps some of their work could be put to use on regular airbases.

In addition to immersion, this has an important use in multiplayer to make sure you get back to your original parking spot so that somebody does not spawn on top of you.

I read again what he says and it's not what he wants. He is not interested in the parking assignment information but rather guidance to parking. It is like "yes I know you want me in spot 34 but please help me get there."

 

I do not think it is a good idea to always be directed back to the original parking spot. DCS ATC assigned arrival parking spot dynamically not to the same one departed from. Also many parking spots are physically impossible to return to.

 

Improved paint markings would allow most aircraft to self-park realistically many real aircraft do rely on external guidance. Replicating external guidance would be irreplaceable in those cases.

I know. What I am suggesting is that it should go through ATC too. It's military base and small aircrafts we're talking about, so no trailer is needed. Guy waving a flag could be an option too in the future.

Regarding 'impossible to return to spots' a tug being available (ie f key option) to turn yourself around or back into the spot would fix it. Could work like armaments kinda, call for tug..'. wait.... tug appears, can park yourself, or it automatically parks you, or even just snaps you into place facing the correct direction if you're already in the spot.

Align on the parking spot by pressing "U" like on the carriers?
