Hi :)

So currently the Caucasus moutains look very nice thanks to the vas amount of trees "hiding" the mesh and texture.

My main concern about the Persian Gulf map, but too about the NTTR or the future Afghanistan map, is that because there are not trees, mountains don't really look like mountains. IRL there are rocks, surface is far from being smooth like on the current mountains.

In those conditions, why not creating rocks templates just like the trees ones ? You create 10-15 types of rocks (which mustn't be the hardest thing to do once you are able to create very beautiful trees on the Caucasus), and put them on mountains/rocky desert areas. Helicopter fight in mountains/rocky areas is mostly hunting guys hiding behind rocks, it was shown in Afghanistan, but too recently in Soudan, or in the Tigharghâr sector in Mali.

I say this because currently, on the Persian gulf, flying in Helicopter in the Iranian mountains feels like flying between two generic (well made) textures. And I must say that if Afghanistan map was the same kind, I would personally nor buy it, nor recommend it, which is sad, as long as creating few rocks isn't probably a big deal once you're able to create a very realistic copy of Dubai. ;)

I hope that this will be heard,

Sincerely,

Nicolas

While I don't know if the SpeedTree technology could apply for creating rocks, having a little bit of diversity on the mountains could be a huge improvement to the actual Iranian peaks in the Persian Gulf map - at least for helos pilots.

As a side note, is there any possibility to create new vegetation for desertic settings with SpeedTree ? With the actual Persian Gulf and the future Syria and Afghanistan maps it would be perfect !

Indeed. I was thinking about this yesterday as well when checking out the mountains.

I know this new technology is called SpeedTrees, but perhaps multiple or single rock formations can be applied with the same method to the mountains as they indeed look really empty and lifeless right now.

IMO that would enhance detail greatly and make a flight through they valleys even more impressive.

Have a pic or video for that?

And I agrree, we need better ground clutter for Hormuz.

I don't understand anything in russian except Davai Davai!

Well to end any debate : Here you'll find the typical mountains shape in the Bandar Abbas region which is the ingame one : https://www.google.fr/search?q=bandar+abbas+mountains&rlz=1C5CHFA_enFR772FR772&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjan9Hp_aXbAhVCVRQKHddyAM0Q_AUICigB&biw=1438&bih=723#imgrc=LvVQzEglnbmqpM:

In fact the most surprising is the huge amount of bushes and clutter that you don't see from satellite imaging.

For other theaters :

Here you have this for example : (Mali) :

Afghanistan... Well ask any soldier, if not :

Hi,

bioms of rocks in mountains like we have bioms of trees in Caucase would be awesome!

I agree the mountains are looking pretty well for planes, flying not so low and fast, but yeah, for helicopter that's clearly different, moutains are very smooth and clean surfaces. Those rocks would even make targets a little harder to find in mountain (like IRL, because they are hidding behind rocks)

It a very good point dimitriov , thank for the suggestion, let's hope ED will but it in their roadmap

Seme applies to the desert and Airplanes. Because the desert is so flat. every target is visible from above over hundreds of miles.

Is Clay pigeon shooting. Absolutely no challenge

Always happy landings ;)
