Made a small training mission witch 2 F18 and 6 Bombers.

F18s are loaded with Sparrows and Wingtips.

He calls out bandits but even if ordered via radio (my target or bandits) does not engage anything.

Did I forget something? The second I let me shoot down from the defenses he calls out RTB. :mad:

Flight role is CAP, bombers are "other side" and not friendly.

 

Another quickly made mission he attacked choppers. Both where on NTTR.

I have an issue in one of my missions as well (which is broken in a different way as well right now: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=211888).

 

The .miz attached there shows a ground strike mission with a flight of 2 F/A-18Cs, each armed with Rockets and 2x Mk-83.

 

When in visual range of the target location (WP 6), I tell my flight to engage ground targets, and usually get a reply of "UNABLE".

 

It's a little frustrating at the moment not having AI able to attack enemies that I call out; for now they are just along for a ride.

In my opinion, I think ED is working on something, because some of the commands are not even available. Maybe it's wishful thinking, because right now, AI is useless.

Flying viggen missions and The flight AND wingman do nothing easy comms ticked off .

None of my AI wingmen respond to my commands...

I’ve noticed this behavior too. Kinda pointless except to have a decoy for engagements. Both for bandits and ground targets. It’s hit or miss to get them to engage.

Same here. Most of the times I order my flight to engage bandits they just say “unable”.

 

The bandits have already shown on the RWR and on my radar, and the wingman has AA weapons.

 

Maybe the wingmen cant see the contacts? Maybe they dont’t have their radar enabled...but the “radar on” command is missing from the comms list...

 

Once we get in the thick of it, and merged, the “engage bandits” seems to work (not every time though).

 

There’s definitely something wrong, or we are missing a key step at some point...(I’ve made countless silly mistakes before, so this might just be one of those times)

Did you put any weapons on the AI planes?

 

Edit: alternatively, as it seems that wingmen will not engage targets until they have reported them, could it be that for some reason they are simply not seeing them?

If you are flying the Harrier with AI wingman and you are doing a conventional take-off from a regular airport, the AI wingman will not take-off. They start a roll then stop because they are attempting to do a vertical take-off with too much weight in terms of fuel and weapon load-outs.
