As a Viggenite I must say that the Mig-19 is actually way harder to kill in a dogfight than a Mig-21. Much better turning radius than both the Mig-21 and the Viggen.

I disagree. I've had several cases where I've been able to keep my flight path marker right on the mig-19 but been too close for missiles. I really wish there was an internal gun...

 

The mig-21 is tougher, in my opinion, since it can more or less keep up in the vertical

I ran several tests on the Viggen with 104th_Stuge about a year ago:

 

Him flying the Viggen was always able to easily outturn both the MiG-21 and the F-5. The wings of the Viggen enable it to hold attitude and turn ratio easily at low speeds. She seemed to never stall. But then again it was Stuge flying, who happens to be one of the best out there.

As to the MiG-19... well, that bird still needs to be tested. The MiG-19 outturns the F-5, that we know. So maybe it's just as good as the Viggen or even a bit better. And that bit could be countered by good pilot skills.

There just were 32 players online. Only 7 were using SimpleRadio and one was using TeamSpeak.

If you need comms for any simulator/game out there it's certainly DCS, but it seems like comms here are dead. If not in aviation where else then?

there are only a hand full of possibilities:

 

- force people to use it with scripting (check if player is on comms - if not a warning will be prompted)

- only use one comm system, not more ... only srs or only teamspeak, but not both

- don't care for comms at all ...

- hope that DCS will get SRS functionality enabled by default ... not by third party tools like srs ...

 

the last option would be the best ... i don't know, a petition to ED to implement this would be best maybe ? :D

Forcing people to do something they don't want to is definitely a NO GO. Terrible idea. When I'm not in the mood to join the SRS I'm not going to, that's the option I and you have on most servers.

 

But I feel like once a VOIP is implemented, more people will be on COMMs.

Waiting for ED to implement this could take ages, since the "dedicated Server" feature took years as far as I know

As mentioned by others above, ED is working on something like SRS. If I'm not mistakeing they're in co-work with Ciribob himself.

Forcing people is something that was used in the TAW server for quite a while. People were mostly complaining about that. Not good.

I don't agree.

You don't get on comms just for GCI. You get on comms to coordinate your attacks with others. You get on comms to fly in a group with others.

 

I'll give you an example:

Yesterday, in the mission When The Mounatins Cry, I got in the Su-25T. Entered TeamSpeak and of course no one was there. On SimpleRadio I asked if someone was online with me. One guy answered. Then I asked him, if he'd team up with me because I needed some escort. He said yes and took the MiG-21. Was a nice teamwork. Much more fun than flying solo for him or myself.

 

Now, TeamSpeak is supposed to get everyone together so they can plan their attack and see who's gonna fly what plane. Only after that you get on SimpleRadio, where chit-chats don't take place (hence TeamSpeak). That's how it's done or at least was done in the first 7 or 8 rounds on BlueFlag, but not recently. Combining TeamSpeak and SimpleRadio the way BuddySpike did it for BlueFlag was very useful. Other servers including this one started doing the same. Until one day, and God only knows why, players stopped doing that.

... and until then stick with what we have or the servers offer. I offer TS and SRS. The 104th for example offers the same. I actually share the same TS with the 104th to make it easier for players who jump between the two servers.

As promised and to keep everything as tranparent as possible, here are all the names of the server's donators so far.

I scratched the last name of each donator, because I wasn't sure if everyone would agree to have his name announced publicly.
