Hey guys just wondering if anyone knows of a URL or link to a set of instructions for hosting a simple 2-4 player server so my friends and I can practice takeoff and landing. I already set up a mission and I’m hosting according to DCS but my friends can’t seem to find the server.

make sure port 10308 is open and forwarded in your router

make sure DCS is allowed inbound and outbound in windows advanced firewall

check your antivirus security is not blocking DCS

Do not use a VPN ( if you have one ) if you are hosting

that covers the basic stuff, they should see your server if all of this is done

Greetings I am trying to host a multiplayer server on my personal machine but when I go to the ED site to manage it, I see the server but there is no run time and when I open the GUI there are no missions available and I cannot add any. I click on the plus sign and it does not open file explorer on my machine. I know the IP is not getting picked up but I do not know how to get the IP to map to the web GUI. Any guidance would be appreciated.

Are you talking about hosting a dedicated server or a simple ingame server?

Intel i7-12700K @ 8x5GHz+4x3.8GHz + 32 GB DDR5 RAM + Nvidia Geforce RTX 2080 (8 GB VRAM) + M.2 SSD + Windows 10 64Bit

DCS Panavia Tornado (IDS) really needs to be a thing!

I dont know about the op, but I would like to know about hosting a simple ingame session, with a preloaded mission where a friend could join and we could play together.

Current specs: Windows 10 Home 64bit, i5-9600K @ 3.7 Ghz, 32GB DDR4 RAM, 1TB Samsung EVO 860 M.2 SSD, GAINWARD RTX2060 6GB, Oculus Rift S, MS FFB2 Sidewinder + Warthog Throttle Quadrant, Saitek Pro rudder pedals.

That's pretty simple: Start DCS, go to Multiplayer and in the server browser menu there is a button to host a server which takes you to the next menu where you can set the server name, server password, select missions and adjust some server settings and when you hit OK your server will go online. Your friend can then join by direct IP (which is not the local IP of your PC, but the public IP of your router, which you have to tell your friend) or if you have set the option that your server should be listed in the server browser, then your friend should see it there and will be able join it like any other server. Make sure you and your friend are using the same version of DCS!

There is one obstacle though: You need to open port 10308 on your router (for UDP and TCP if I remember correctly). How that works depends on your router model.

Is there a way to find out if people could theoretically join my server when I'm not having someone else with DCS around to test it?

Need to see if my ISP configuration of my connection is suited for hosting.

Once the server is on the usual DCS World server list, that one which I'm seeing on the DCS homepage when logged into my profile, is this server then 100% accessible by everyone or could it still be the case the connection isn't suited for hosting servers due to my ISP? Do I only see it because it runs on this machine which I'm also logged in, or can everyone see it? Which is it?

Best way it's try with another computer connected with your phone tethering or some other connection ( different from the one of the server ), and take a look at server list end try to join.

If you can't test in this way you can try to use ONLINE tool, fill the form with DCS server public IP/Port, and see what it's going on. Normally should say that: IP is responding on port xxxx.

Just tested a couple a times, 1 serious run.

Never had to "open port 10308" it's just there in the list.
