Never had an issue taking off from carrier till today. Every time I launch I just fall in the water I have tried takeoff trim from 12 to 18 same result

are you using a mission from a previous version?... I had this problem in a mission I made prior to the latest update.

Fortunately the mission wasn't very advanced so I re-scripted it in the latest version. No problems with takeoff from carrier since.

What's your flap setting?

If its the same problem I had the flap settings will be irrelevant. There seems to have been some issue with the catapult ready animation not being the same as in the previous version of the game. (I'm guessing its a mission copied from beta and saved to latest release version).

You can probably confirm this as another work-around is to spool up the engines as soon as the take off hook has engaged. This stops the catapult ready animation having time to kick in.

My guess is that this would provide a temporary solution to the problem.

Did you just update your version? If you went a while without updating, there was a patch that changed the afterburner setting and you might think you are full burner but are only in mil power. If this is the case, in the options under special, uncheck the box for afterburner detent.

There is a pretty annoying bug at the moment, which can cause the catapult to launch you below stall speed - especially when heavily loaded.

So far I have been spared mostly (the cat only sent me swimming once), but my squadron members have been less lucky.

What I heard from them, is that as soon as you hit "U" to attach yourself to the catapult, go full power and then immediately back to idle, and then full power again.

Had it today first time. Was full burners and no launch. Dropped down and then back again and it launched me, but too slow and I went straight into the water. First and only time so far..

Cat launch for me is impossible even with no load out

I have tried everything.

I have the slow launch bug only on one simple mission that I made within a week or so of Hornet/Stennis release. It's confined to that single mission and hasn't been 'fixed' with successive updates. Remade a nearly identical mission recently and the bug was not present.

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I have never gotten wet on a failed CAT shot... well once, when it fired me from CAT 4 before the guy from CAT 3 and we collided but that is not the same thing!

Follow this process ...

  • Attach yourself to the CAT by pressing U with the Launch Bar in the EXTEND position.
  • Check all your controls are working properly (move the stick around).
  • Check Stab set to 16. (thanks Neil)
  • Select the Launch Bar to the RETRACT position.
  • Now power up to full Military Power (not AB).
  • WAIT FOR THE SHOT! ( do NOT go to full AB, just wait in Mill and be patient!).
  • DO NOT TOUCH THE THROTTLE OR CONTROLS!.
  • The second you leave the CAT at the end of the rail go full AB.
  • Enjoy your flight.

Unless you are super heavy you never need AB when going off the CAT. In real life they only do this over a certain weight (not sure what it is), I have shot off multiple times fully loaded with only full military power selected.

I've never needed to go full AB on a CAT so far since EA launch.

As per today's patch (Update 6), the bug is still present: load up to a gross weight of over 44k lbs and the cat won't launch you with enough speed to remain airborne.

Just tried it in the Stingers LSO mission.

49800 lbs - full fuel, 3 tanks, 4 Mk 83s, 2x 9M, 2x 7M

19° NU stab trim, half flaps

Took off just fine

On our server mission a loadout like that will send you swimming: I tried it again today and I got launched at 120 kts.

When I made a new mission, the carrier launched me just fine at 200+ kts. I wonder if some non-retroactive changes were made to the Stennis that didn't make it into the patch notes, and were made more recently than the age of our mission...

We fixed it now (replaced the CVN74 by CVN70 and back again, checked wind and temperature) :) Jeez this was annoying...

I had this problem in a mission I created. Temp was 0 deg and I kept going in the drink (130kts)

Changed temp to 10 deg C and every thing worked fine (200ish kts)

This was with a 46K+ loadout

" using a mission from a previous version?... " "previous version" do you mean before latest update?

If yes, Oh, finally I met someone who can testify my imagination.

I,v played one self edit mission for month, but after latest update, the mission's weather is changed by ghost, and F18 gone mad, only in the only one self edit mission. F18 in all other missions are fine.

I also felt in the water... the reason : throotle's Y saturation was not 100, so my afterburner never reached the maximum power...
