As long as they dont use that horrible monocle setup like they seem have for the harrier then it will be awsome.

That monocle setup is just plain awful for VR..

Wearing dual tubes like PVS 15’s or 9’s, for example still gives you that monocular view.

Agreed but its across both eyes which solves an issue in VR, the problem is there is no way in VR to select which eye you want to use for a monocle setup.

Default sits over your left eye only and this is no good if your right eye dominant.

You can use the NVGs with the Hornet already, download the attachment below and drop the Mods folder into DCS (passes IC)

The required keyboard inputs are N - on/off, brightness adj - pgup/pgdown.

i'D say just wait, it's been shown in this week's video it's done, just not sure which patch it'll be, next one or the next after, but in any cases, i wouldn't play with this mod anymore, anyways on my side since 2-3 patches ago, this mod made my game crash as i hop in the Hornet, so i'll just wait till the real NVG comes out. But if you plan to, i'D recommend, if you don'T do it reguarly, simply save all your controls profiles for each type (stick, throttle if sepearated from the stick), rudder, keyboard before playing with this module, so if it resets your bindings, simply reload profiles, so no issues for this.

I use that mod in the F-18, and it's awesome, except you can't read anything in the cockpit. Which was exactly what Wags showed in his video. I've worn PVS-15's, and they can focus pretty close.

Real pilots wear night vision goggles for night carrier landings watch pitching deck on youtube and you'll see what I'm talking about

Posted

according to other pilots they prefer NOT to wear NVG's for night landing, as they lose depth perspective.

Can you post link with time mark? I can't find any pilot wearing night vision in "pitching deck" videos. Thank you

It depends on how you've set the focus on real NVG's, the depiction is accurate. NVG's don't have a wide FOV.

The focal point in this picture appears to the the HUD

Are the NVG supposed to be blurry inside the cockpit? inside the NVG is blurry but just outside the lense its nice and sharp. i can see it in the image above

You have NVGs to focus at specific distances, up close or infinity or in between, but not both/everything at once. You really shouldn't be using the NVG's to look at instruments in the cockpit anyway, you look under them.

Do AN/PVS-15s automatically focus? From looking at them online it appears that you have to manually adjust the focus?

15's, 7's, 14's and 9's are the ones I've used and I've never seen or heard of an auto focus. You focus for a specific distance, usually infinity, unless you're trying to read a map.

My nvg image is not that clear as wags showed us in video. I barely see my screens through it . I set screens as night and tried different nvg gains settings . But it is good anyway

You sure you didn't forgot to wipe clean a little your NVG's lens before taking off as they were stored for a while for the Hornet, might had gathered dust? :P

My download takes for ever, started this evening around 8:30 PM, now time to get to bed and still going at 1:15 AM or so, guess i'll try these tomorow morning, will tell you how they turn on my side.
