I think that AI-opponents in LO / FC definitely are not all of the same kind when you try to kill them in A2A, whether BVR nor inside visual range. Even with the same skill level selected, some of them are easy to kill while others will knock you out pretty soon.

My ranking of the three most hard to kill AI-aircraft is:

1. Mirage 2000-5

2. F4-E

3. Su-27

kind regards,

Raven....

He he. Good question. I have to agree with Iguana. What's even worse... i fly fighters.

This is why I now only fly online. :D

DCS Wishlist: 1) FIX THE DAMN RIVERS!!! 2) Spherical or cylindrical panorama view projection. 3) Enhanced input options (action upon button release, etc). 4) Aircraft flight parameter dump upon exit (stick posn, attitude, rates, accel, control volume, control-surface positions, SAS bias, etc). 5) ADS-33 maneuver courses as static objects. 6) Exposed API or exports of trim position and stick force for custom controllers. 7) Select auto multiple audio devices

Mirage is with out a doubt one of the easiest, you just need to BnZ the 2000 and its all over in a few seconds.

In BVR the most difficult, when flying Russian fighters, IMO are the F14, if you're not using Jamming pods. The first 54 can be pretty tricky because the Tomcats radar is so powerful it clogs up your RWS making it difficult to predict the proximity of the missile. With jamming pods its pretty easy because the first Phoenix will go ballistic with out much effort. The F18 is really tricky and suffers from the invisible "bug", no pun intended ;) so you can only see it when you're very close. All in all I would say the F15, it's pretty good at all ranges and you never feel that theres a distance at which you can relax because you've passed outside or inside its optimum killing range.

For the Eagle it's the Mig29S. With Arh R77's and the Mig itself also suffering from the invisible bug it has the greatest pain in the ass factor of any Russian fighter.

F-16 gives me more hard time in a guns fight but actually a gun sparring with an F-5 for me, is like a nightmare. It seem's to turn slower and tighter or maybe my fighting skills are crap..

Multiple F-16’s with jammers on ...

But running out of fuel in the Mig-29 and being chased by couple of eagles is also not funny!

Gotsda be the F-5 for me. That thing can move.

BTW - Try flying it with the su27 pit, you can break mach 1 before the end of the runway :P

F-4E gives me hell when im trying to take him out with guns though, who knows, maybe it's just my skills but he can really move. Straining my Mirage to the limit.

MiG-23 unless it's at med or high altitude. They lure you in with the impression that they are easily killable and then vanish until you get an R-60 in your teeth.

F-16 a close 2nd.

F-16, for some reason. I can't explain it, but no other aircraft gives me as much trouble even in BVR. Maybe that's simply because it's my most common enemy.

I usually fly against NATO aircraft. When flying against Russian ACs, the MiG-29 seems to be the most difficult to down. Again, I'm not sure why.

...and how many of us have suddenly remembered that the Tu-95 has a tail gunner when having some gunzo fun?

I've made that mistake once. I was flying my Su and was basically just screwing around. I wanted to take out its engines one by one. I overlooked one minor detail; and over the course of a few seconds, I was plummeting towards the Earth in a fireball.

The only thing that irritates me about the Mirage is that missile it carries (I forget the name). Sometimes I forget that it has a two-part boost stage, the latter portion of which engages when the missile approaches you. It completely throws off my timing.

For me it's always been the one I didn't know was there.

If your flying the Russain fighters & f-16's & 18's are killing you in the WVR fight your doing something VERY wrong.

These highly under capable platform's simply lack the T:W for the vertical fight. Take them vertical and its like fish in a barrel...

As far as BVR goes, F-14's + AWG-9/APG-7 + AIM-54 is freaking hard to match 1 vs 1 with SARH R-27's.

Im personally not convinced of the true terminal maneuverability of the aim-54, seems over modeled in LOMAC (please, no one quote the fictional writing's of Tom Cooper and ACIG)

Posted

Actually the AIM-54C seems pretty under-modelled in LOMAC ...

And er, I suppose LO's F-16's and F/A-18's might be underpowered ...
