acamp04 Posted July 22, 2018 Posted July 22, 2018 Hi all! Sorry if this has already been addressed, but I'm still having issues with sliding on the deck of the carrier. I thought I read that it was fixed in the last update, but I wanted to see if anyone else is still having problems. Another issue I've been running into is the JBD on CAT 2 is constantly deployed if I start a mission on the deck; hot or cold. I've only noticed this in SP so I'm not sure how this effects MP. Thanks for your help, and keep up the good work! Loving the ICLS!
glen.a.williamson Posted July 22, 2018 Posted July 22, 2018 Fix may not have resolved the slipping issue as of yet. I too read that the problem with slippage on the deck had been fixed. But, I also read elsewhere that the "Fix" either did not make it into the last patch, or, the problem was not fully resolved. I too still experience skating around the deck when the carrier is doing over about 20 knots.
Talonx1 Posted July 22, 2018 Posted July 22, 2018 Only time I’ve seen slippage since patch was during latency spikes. Bound to happen at times when you get a little lag and dont think at that extent it will ever be possible to completely get rid if it. You have an object moving and sending its position to server parked on top of an object moving on the server. Any little discrepency in timing/position data and its gonna “slide” no matter how sticky the tires are.

Chops Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 (edited) I am also having issues with steering on the deck. Single mission, carrier moving at 27 kts. Just want to add, that I experience problems steering on the deck after landing. Edited July 24, 2018 by Chops More info

boscoh Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 Deck handling is dramatically improved. Like others have said I only notice sliding when the carrier is steaming above 20kts. I'm working on a mission right now with carrier at 15kts, and 15kts into the wind =30kts over deck and I can taxi with no sliding. Change carrier to 25kts and wind to 5kts, sliding begins. 3800X, X570, 32GB 3600, RTX 2080Ti, SSD, Odyssey+ VR

I believe it was working fine below 20kts to begin with? No idea if its in or not. I think the cv on our server (at least one of them) is running under 20kts anyway and I havent been having any problems. What I dont get is if it causing so many problems why not just slow down your carriers? Sure it still needs to be addressed if it hasnt already but why should anyone be running 27 kt carriers anyway? All you need is like 25 kts total wod right? Set speed to 19 and winds at 6 and done. 6 kts is hardly gale force. If thats too much wind for you to handle you should probably practice a little more. Spetz Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 Never really had a problem in the Hornet as I'm not on the deck long enough to park, but the Harrier slides right off the side when parked in my experience.

Manuel_108 Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 I got the carrier set to 25 knots and the hornet is only sliding the first second after spawning on the deck with chocks on. Before the update, I was sliding left and right during slow taxiing. The wind with the canopy opened is hilarious though, sounds like a hurricane at 6 knots.
Ahmed Posted July 24, 2018 Posted July 24, 2018 Also, the wheels spin under certain conditions when stationary on deck

Its blowing at 6 kts plus ships speed. :smartass:
Oban Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 Yeah, it's a pain in the arse, the default Case 1 for Persian Gulf and I'm sliding into parked aircraft as well as the nose wheel steering not as friendly since the last update, and now a fix every 2nd week.. Xxx Posted July 25, 2018 Posted July 25, 2018 2.5.2 release version. Aircraft does not steer well on deck, even with nose wheel steering high. Seems to slip about. I can not engage the cat after trapping and trying to take off again, blast shield stays flat and cat doesn't work. Even careful positioning over shuttle the cat does not work. Are you over turning when using nws hi? If you do the wheel will crank over too far and it will push forward sliding the wheel instead of turning. Think of trying to ride a bicycle and cranking the handlebars all the way over suddenly. And are you sure you sure you are following hookup procedure properly? Extending launch bar thempressing “u” to hookup? I’ve never had a single problem hooking up on or offline that wasnt because I was out of position. I’ve only ever had a launch problem one time when the blast shield was up but cat didnt launch. I’ve seen bouncing planes but its ussually online and happens when trying to land on field after trapping and relaunching from carrier.

It’s just funny how LOUD it is, don’t you agree? In DCS you’d think that you are going at 100 miles an hour judging by the wind noise, not 30 miles an hour.
