AKA_Clutter Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 All, At times I notice "ghosting" while flying in VR. Typically this occurs following a crash, or some external views. By ghosting I mean that when you move your head, the metal frame of a cockpit leaves 4-5 tracks as it moves. This occurs with all the graphics on the screen as far as I can tell. Does anybody else see this or know what may cause it. I don't remember seeing such a thing a few months back, and haven't flown flat panel in almost a year. I do use SkateZilla's app to launch with the OOR software selected. dburne Posted August 5, 2018 Posted August 5, 2018 Sounds like one of the side effects of running with ASW. I turn ASW off with the Oculus Tray Tool, and still get a smooth experience without the ghosting. If memory serves me right, I tried turning ASW off a month or so ago, and it seemed much worse. pimp Posted August 6, 2018 Posted August 6, 2018 In the Oculus Tray Tool, I just noticed ASW automatically turned to Auto during flight. I always have it set to Off when I startup Oculus. That was weird behavior because I don't know any key command I could've pressed to accidentally set it to Auto. i9 14900k @5.6GHz NZXT Kraken |Asus ROG Strix Z790 A-Gaming | Samsung NVMe m.2 990 Pro 2TB | 64GB DDR5 6400MHz EVGA RTX 3090 FTW3 Ultra | PiMAX CRYSTAL LIGHT | HOTAS Warthog | Saitek Flight Pedals

That was weird behavior because I don't know any key command I could've pressed to accidentally set it to Auto. I use a profile in OTT for DCS.exe. I will mention there is also a glitch in OTT for DCS, at times the profile does not apply on first start of DCS. I have it set for audio confirmation so I know when the profile applies or not. When it does not I have to exit DCS and launch it again, then it will apply with the audio confirmation. Vannipo Posted August 9, 2018 Posted August 9, 2018 (edited) Just open the "OculusDebugTool" and let it stay opened. No extra Tools needed for this. With 45 fps all is shuttering ALL the time. Depending on where u look, u see it more or less. Edited August 9, 2018 by Vannipo
S D Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 When is the last time you cleared your fxo and metashaders2 folders? Always worth a try, has fixed bad fps/stutters/ghosting for me in the past.

Ala12Rv-Tundra Posted August 10, 2018 Posted August 10, 2018 They are in the Saved Games?...what function do they perform? I can´t tell exactly what their function is, but they are quite important, custom VR shaders change them and overall perfomance increases. Pity they raise an IC error when online. i5 8400 | 32 Gb RAM | RTX 2080Ti | Virpil Mongoose T-50 base w/ Warthog & Hornet sticks | Warthog throttle | Cougar throttle USB | Orion 2 throttle base w/ Viper & Hornet grips| VKB T-Rudder Mk IV | Oculus Rift S | Buddy-Fox A-10 UFC | 2x TM MFDs & 1x WW DDI | 2x Bass shakers | SIMple SIMpit chair | WW TakeOff panel | Andre JetSeat | WW Hornet UFC | WW Viper ICP FC3 - Warthog - F-5E - Harrier - NTTR - Hornet - Tomcat - Huey - Viper - C-101 - PG - Hip - SuperCarrier - Syria - Warthog II - Hind - South Atlantic - Sinai - Strike Eagle - Phantom - Mirage F1 - Afghanistan - Irak

fitness88 Posted August 11, 2018 Posted August 11, 2018 I renamed my C:\Users\Saved Games\DCS.openbeta\fxo and metashaders2 folders then ran a VR session. It was really very smooth not 1 stutter or freeze up. I see the 2 folders were recreated with that session. Maybe there was something corrupt with one or more of the files in those folders. I'll report back if issues return. Thanks for the tip.
Johnny Dioxin Posted August 11, 2018 Posted August 11, 2018 Any of you guys finding that OTT isn't working since the firmware update? I know he was due to release a new version soon, but has suffered delays, but I'm thinking the firmware update may make his update useless. I hope not! Are the older methods of switching off ASW still relevant? (i.e. the registry hack) Rig: Asus TUF GAMING B650-PLUS; Ryzen 7800X3D ; 64GB DDR5 5600; RTX 4080; VPC T50 CM2 HOTAS; Pimax Crystal Light I'm learning to fly - but I ain't got wings With my head in VR - it's the next best thing!
fitness88 Posted August 11, 2018 Posted August 11, 2018 I used to use OTT but I stopped as I get similar performance with/without it.

Are the older methods of switching off ASW still relevant? (i.e. the registry hack) No problem on my end. There is a glitch occasionally where the profile I have does not kick in ( I use the audio confirmation so I know when it does not), I exit the game and start it again then it is fine. S D Posted August 13, 2018 Posted August 13, 2018 (edited) So why does deleting them make for smoother VR performance? All your doing by deleting or clearing out those folders, is forcing the game to rebuild the shaders and some other stuff. Once you've done this, the game will take longer to load in, as its rebuilding. Always worth doing if there has been any updates, takes 2 seconds once in a while to clear em out. As for stuttering/ghosting when switching views and returning to the cockpit, when i have experienced this it has been solved by remove the HMD (RIFT) far enough to allow the sensor to put the HMD's screens into standby, then just put it back on again, this seems to revert me back to normal performance. Again no idea why, but it works so hey i'm not gonna go digging for more problems. Just as a note, i'm not using any of the tray tools stuff or any mods or tweaks to help performance in VR, found graphics settings i was happy with and with the above two tips have been running fine through various updates.
