Hi, I saw some amazing work on 3D printer by several users but they are spread out on different threads and hard to return to.

I thought it my be a good idea to put them and show them in just one place like in here.

I agree too. I hope those with 3d printing skills will share their workflow and secrets with us. I’m getting a large printer for making F15E cockpit and need all the advice I can get.

This could become a huge topic. As a 3D printer / designer myself, I would suggest splitting things up a little. Maybe a thread for people sharing their designs, you can download and print. Then a thread to discuss design of items that people are looking for or busy with.

 

If anybody has any specific 3D printing questions, they can ask away, I will be happy to try answer them as best I can.

Great idea and I hope those in charge are listening. 3D printing is becoming a standard in pit building as it may be the only way or best way to replicate those impossible to find parts we all need to make our creations seem just a little more real!

What’s easiest software o use to design for 3D printer

Depends on your preferences.

 

I find OpenSCAD nice, though it's programming-like interface is a love it/hate it divider.

I would look at Fusion360, steep learning curve (less so that say Miya and 3D Studio Max or Blender) but great if you have a technical background.

But if you get the hang of designing you'll miss some features and your are going to look for other software. At least that was my experience.

 

Now I'm very happy with Fusion360.

I have added knurling to the nut and made 7.5 and 10 cm versions.

Uploaded them to Thingiverse but I need to wait 24h before I can publish it.
