I actually got asked this question last week already and my answer was I honestly dont know. I expect CH to use the same type of pots in this piece of hrdware as in all their products, but I have no experience with it. I asked him to send me some pictures of the internals, as I cant find any on the internet. But he is currently not at home if I understood correctly. If you could send me a picture, or maybe link me one from the internet I could probably give you an answer. Sokol1_br Posted January 23, 2019 Posted January 23, 2019 Another cool thing about MMJoy is that you can adjust both VID and PID, so you can adjust the order of your HID device in terms of hardware numeration as you like. And I can also make it TARGET compatible. :) Psst, don't tell the secret. :D

All CH's stick, rudder and throttle use the same CTS HP 100 potentiometer, linear (response) type B, 100 K. Exception is Quadrant, there is used small square plastic Bourns pot. The major difficult is the fact that in CH stick pot pole is part of gimbal - remove pot, gimbal fall apart. In my CH's mods I leave pot (steel) pole as part of gimbal, cut off the resistive trail support and glue the magnet needed for contactless sensor in pole end. rel4y Posted January 24, 2019 Author Posted January 24, 2019 Ok, thanks Sokol. My normal CH pots work quite fine, I initially had some trouble because of the reasons you mentioned however. They had to be able to take non axial loads, but the ball bearings inside handle that quite well. Then I guess I cant help people with the CH quadrant if these are using different pots. For some reason I can find no inside pictures of the CH quadrant on the webs... SVgamer72 Posted January 24, 2019 Posted January 24, 2019 I took my CH Throttle Quadrant apart. Pots are soldered to a circuit board that is used to mount them. I don't think a simple swap replacement is possible

But arent the white plastic parts holding the pots tightly onto the black plastic cover? If that is the case then my replacement sensors might actually work. I think soldering the sensors in place may not be very hard if they are not held in place by the PCB only. Another problem could be friction. Is there any sort of friction mechanism or are the levers held in place only ba the pots? It's like the bearing cap on a cars crankshaft. The circuit board keeps the pots in place, and is the main anchor point for spacing. I am sure your sensors could be used, but it would require 3D printing a custom mounting solution to replace the original pot/board combo.

It has a center detent and the axle type is conceivably inappropriate for a 3D printed model. i will have a look at it eventually, as at the ministick, but as of currently it is not of very high priority to me. Joe Lighty Posted February 16, 2019 Posted February 16, 2019 Just some feedback on the magnetoresistive sensors for the Cougar joystick: I ordered these from rel4y and he sent them quickly from Germany to Australia - I've just had the chance to install these and they truly are "plug-and-play" - beyond that, my Cougar didn't even need to be calibrated - perfect upon installation - the axis are SUPER smooth. I have breathed new life into my previously "spiky" Cougar - ready for DCS F16. Awesome product, great price and service - highly recommended!

The default idea was the EvenStrain gimbals mod, but this has been improved. I'm using this mod 12 years ago and works perfectly. I used many pots, but now with hall sensors, gratitude for rel4y! By the end of this week I will make the new Throttle sensors and the USB adapters will most likely be made at the beginning of next week. It is really a lot of soldering, but I am going as quick as I can! :) I had to increase shipping prices by 0.5€ as the mail service increased its prices. Also the Throttle digital GMR sensor is now 15€ because TLE5011 prices have somehow skyrocketed. The preorders will most likely be shipped mid next week. 59th_Wittman Posted March 7, 2019 Posted March 7, 2019 (edited) I earlier planed to change the Cougar to Hotas Warthog. I tested the new TM HOTAS, but I don't like the Warthog stick mechanics and Rudal_chw wrote well! Cougar has a Foxy, Warthog hasn't. My squadron members most use the Warthog, only some older members and me use the Cougar. Now I'm very happy, because rel4y made hall sensors for Cougar!
