I just went up and tested some of the sidearm fixes:

-Sidearm keeps lock when the aircraft is not pointing at the target.

-Sidearm keeps lock after firing when another missile remains in the aircraft

-Sidearm does not have volume control (Sidewinder volume control also fixed

Here is what I found,

-The Sidearm does drop it's lock after firing. The tone will change from lock, to acquiring.

-The next missile will not lock onto anything, and the tone will not change, dispite turing away and back in

-Caging and uncaging does not affect this

-The A/G target undesig button does not unlock the sidearm per the manual

-Still only able to fire the second missile by deselecting and reelecting the SA.

This is on version 2.5.3.23788 Open Beta

Track File

In this track I attempt to engage multiple SA-6 radars. You can see I fire one, attempt to gain another lock, cage/uncage, A/G undesig, turn. It isn't until I reelect the missile I am able to fire again. The third missile I show just a release to show the missile isn't still locked as it goes ballistic off the rail. And the last missile is a hit after reelecting the missile.

Hope this helps

Thanks for testing.

I wasn't sure if anything had been patched for the AV-8B - only the "dcs_manifest.x86_64" was updated in the "DCS World\Mods\aircraft\AV8BNA" folder today, in Open Beta 2.5.3.23788.

Note: The new AGM-65E's that came with the Hornet update have a new 'loft' profile that also works for the Harrier. At slow speeds (i.e. 300 KTAS), they'll climb +4000 ft to reach their target, while launched at 540 KTAS, the profile is much flatter.

Impact finishes as a 30° 'top down' attack, rather than the past 'side armour' hit.

I tested today, still had to recycle the sidearm selection in the stores menu in order to get a lock, still locked after I turned away from target 180 degrees and was still able to fire a sidearm and it turned towards the target. Sidearms seem to be just as finicky as before to me. Cannot find this volume knob described am I blind, I feel embarrassed because I've been flying this AV-8B since day one and I cant find it for the life of me LoL.

What about that age old bug of the gun firing when sidearms are selected sometimes? Have you tried that?

I gotchyu fam

Still a bug, but not as bad. I was able to fire off a sidearm after flipping through the master modes a few times.

Steps to repeat:

1. Be in Harrier, switch to AA Guns

2. Switch back to A/G, select and fire sidearm

3. Brrrrrt

You guys do realize the reason why no bug was fixed is because no changes made it to the latest OB right ? Happens all the time with ED, changes are made a couple of days before a patch and they sometimes don't go in.

... only the "dcs_manifest.x86_64" was updated in the "DCS World\Mods\aircraft\AV8BNA" folder today...

The manifest is not a part of the aircraft systems.

I still encounter the same problems as I did before with sidearms.

In a world where ED would look at when a changelog was posted and make it correspond with when changes were made yes quoting the changelog would work but take the OB release from two weeks ago, patches for the viggen, few items added since but you'll notice that almost the same is back in this week's OB changelog because two weeks ago nothing was fixed or added for the viggen.

They didn't make it through.

Note: The Open Beta 'Hot Fix' includes additional updated files ("AV8B_FM.dll.crypt" and "AV8B_CPT.dll.crypt")

So it's worth retesting the Sidearm's, etc. in DCS Open Beta 2.5.3.23954

Really ? looks like the changes are in with the hot fix ^^, at least I can fire all my sidearms on target without having to reselect them.

EDIT : it's pretty inconsistent but it's better then before, you also can't unlock the sidearm by pressing the unlock button as per the manual but that wasn't in the changelog.

Volume works.

How do you change the volume?

Right side console, radio panel bottom left there should be two stacked rotatives one for AUX and one for GROUND (intercom I guess). The one for the sidearm and sidewinder volume is the top rotative (AUX). I'm wondering if it also controls alert volume ?

Decoy, at least on hotstart, the volume dosent seem to default correctly and the SA is silent until you twiddle the aux nob, even though it appeara to be max.

Great to see progress being made on the bird!

Thanks! I found the rotary the other day, but did not relate it to the sidearm. Will try it out!

So bug fixed, not 100% but 50% fixed. Sad was looking forward to rapid deployment of AGM122 on separate targets.

Agreed. I have been shot down more than once in BlueFlag because of sidearm issues causing distraction and tempting me to linger too long near enemy defences.

I assigned button 7 of the armament control panel to one of my hats so i can turn sidearms on and off easily and it works flawlessly. my gun has never fired using this method
