Module with the best/most training missions?

Recommended Posts

Going to pick up another module today.

As a complete newbie what modules comes with the best/most training missions? I do own ka-50 and a-10c but feel they are a bit too mutch for me to start off with.

So, what do you recommend? :)

I would try the F-5E. It's quite simple and still capably of air-to-air and limited air-to-ground missions. Training missions are really good (attached in the snapshot below).

I'll have a look at that thx :)

Any chance of someone owning the gazelle? Rotors do look kind of fun and challenging

That's easy ... the Mirage 2000 without a doubt, to date still the only Module with training both at Caucasus and at Nevada ... and the builtin Campaign is like a Training Part 2, it begins just where the training ends :)

For work: iMac mid-2010 of 27" - Core i7 870 - 6 GB DDR3 1333 MHz - ATI HD5670 - SSD 256 GB - HDD 2 TB - macOS High Sierra

For Gaming: 34" Monitor - Ryzen 3600 - 32 GB DDR4 2400 - nVidia RTX2080 - SSD 1.25 TB - HDD 10 TB - Win10 Pro - TM HOTAS Cougar

Mobile: iPad Pro 12.9" of 256 GB

The gazelle is probably the craziest and the most maneuverable (as in, agile) aircraft in DCS. All the other helicopters are more relaxed to fly - only the Ka-50 is challenging for learning the systems, but the Gazelle has many of the same (or better) capabilities than the Ka-50. All helicopters are well made and good picks (some find the realism in Gazelle flight model lacking but it's a very light and maneuverable craft IRL).

L-39 could be a nice trainer as well, the "training" campaign DLC may be quite challenging... you'll probably know the basics way better than most DCS players if you manage to finish it.

I started with the F-18, and in open beta there are a *lot* of training missions. From cockpit familiarization, cold start, hot start on the ramp for taxi and takeoff, landing, carrier landing, instrument landing, and loads of weapons and combat training.

(I haven't counted, but maybe 20 training missions now?)

The F-18 is also super simple to fly, almost too easy being a fly by wire aircraft.

Easy module to get started in is the AJS 37 Viggen, though not all too many training missions.

It takes a few buttons to get her started and in the air. It's easy enough to start using the weapons but they are hard to master, as is the plane.

The Gazelle is very fun, extremely agile to such an extent that it's almost impossible to get vortex ring effect unlike the other choppers. This is a reason some say the model is unrealistic, perosnally, I have no idea, I have never flown a Gazelle or any of the other choppers in real life so I can only trust the devs here (as can most of us when it comes to all modules).

The Gazelle is very fun and choppers over all are great fun and it would probably my suggestion if you want more variation to choose a Gazelle or a Huey. The Gazelle is more modern with wire guided missiles and can be used well against hard targets from a good distance.

If you want something easier than the A10 or F18 the Gazelle is a good choice, as is the Huey, Viggen and F5E depending on what you are after.
