Raised_Dead85 Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 I got a question about real time flying! Is LOMAC fly by real clock time as in real life? I am just curious and wanting to find out:D |Windows 8 64bit|I7-950| |X58Mobo| |1T HDD| |18gigs PC3-16000 TC 2000mhz||Nvidia GTX 660 Ti Graphics||Cougar HOTAS-CHPedals/TIR5ProClip|
ED Team Groove Posted July 18, 2007 ED Team Posted July 18, 2007 It might depend on the power of your PC but generally spoken i would say: Its realtime. Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en
GGTharos Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 What do you mean by real time? It has a specific meaning in computer science. [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC] Reminder: SAM = Speed Bump :D I used to play flight sims like you, but then I took a slammer to the knee - Yoda
Raised_Dead85 Posted July 18, 2007 Author Posted July 18, 2007 Real time meaning planes take a certain amounts of time to get from one point to another. During the time the plane can slow down in airspeed which make it longer to get to final destination or it can use all it can to get there faster. Is this used the same in LOMAC? I played a sim a way long time ago. The sim called F22 DID and the manual said that the sim is real time. It took me a 2 hours to fly to a target and back. |Windows 8 64bit|I7-950| |X58Mobo| |1T HDD| |18gigs PC3-16000 TC 2000mhz||Nvidia GTX 660 Ti Graphics||Cougar HOTAS-CHPedals/TIR5ProClip|
GGTharos Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Uhm ... you could find out by doing a couple calculations that yes, it takes the correct amount of time to cross a certain distance at a certain ground speed. ;) So yes, in that respect LOMAC is correct. 192nd_Erdem Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 It's not realtime. It's more like Massively ECM Turn Based :P 1
Raised_Dead85 Posted July 18, 2007 Author Posted July 18, 2007 I know what you mean by that GGTharos, the calculations are probably correct since the map imagery was taken by a live satilite feed but as for programming it i dont really know for sure! |Windows 8 64bit|I7-950| |X58Mobo| |1T HDD| |18gigs PC3-16000 TC 2000mhz||Nvidia GTX 660 Ti Graphics||Cougar HOTAS-CHPedals/TIR5ProClip|
ED Team Groove Posted July 18, 2007 ED Team Posted July 18, 2007 Raised_Dead85, you should fly a Su-25 mission where the target is 250 km away of your homeplate.. Hell, you will know ITS realtime after the landing :D Our Forum Rules: http://forums.eagle.ru/rules.php#en
AJ.eightFive Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Yes, I can confirm... LOMAC is a real time sink.
Ells228 Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Ah F22 DID, loved that game and used to play it for hours, although you could speed up time from what I remember. Yep, LOMAC is real time alright
Viper101 Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 yeah, LOMAC time runs off the clock given within your operating system...hence the little box in the top right corner has the correct time ;) [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Hell, you will know ITS realtime after the landing :D Hmmm sounds interesting but i got to start alot of practicing before i start my career as anything! Im in the process in getting use to my Cougar which is awsome and easy to use. And its very hard for me to decide in which aircraft i should start my career! :smilewink: And CnC3 is kinda in the way... but ill beat it when i cant use my joystick coming up when i start to transition out of Iraq. Great in hearing its real time travel in LOMAC like it is in RL! :thumbup: |Windows 8 64bit|I7-950| |X58Mobo| |1T HDD| |18gigs PC3-16000 TC 2000mhz||Nvidia GTX 660 Ti Graphics||Cougar HOTAS-CHPedals/TIR5ProClip|
Grimes Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 The A-10 is probably the easiest airframe the learn and get adjusted to the game with. Its what I started with. and you get the satisfaction of blowing alot of stuff up with it to get hooked to the game. But I do sympathize how difficult it is to tear away from Billy Dee (call sign "Lando") Williams. CnC3 is such a good game. Best of luck. SUBS17 Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 I got a question about real time flying! Is LOMAC fly by real clock time as in real life? I am just curious and wanting to find out:D Not only is LO in real time you can also set it to follow time across a month with realistic moon states. I think if they took it one step further and implemented automatic season switching and a yearly calender then it would rock.(especially with dynamic weather and/or realtime weather based on the actual weather in that area) [sIGPIC] [/sIGPIC]
hitman Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 Correct me if I am wrong, but isnt Real Time "live"? In X-Plane, Real Time means that current weather conditions for that specific part of the map and time are in-game, updated via internet connection.
Kuky Posted July 18, 2007 Posted July 18, 2007 I think that would be real time weather ... AJ.eightFive Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Grimes, are you aware of the spelling error in your very nice signature ;).
sp0nge Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Hey cool ive had the same question for a while. But it wasnt real high on my 'to-find-out' list. Is breaking the laws of gravity illegal? [sIGPIC][/sIGPIC]

Geier Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 Of course Lo is realtime game. I mean that taking to a place with certain distance and certain speed will be equal to the same situation in reallife... Or you can just calculate the numbers - distance, speed and time - all you need to make a correct judgement. If the plane takes 1 hour to fly for 500 km with the constant speed of 500km per hour it will be the confirmation that Lo is a realtime sim:)
Boneski Posted July 19, 2007 Posted July 19, 2007 If you are asking if you start the game with the game time set to 07:00 H and let it run until 21:00H, then Yes.. you will see real time transitions from Morning passing through Noon Passing Through Dusk Passing to Night. Real Time Shadows - Real Time Sky. When you change the Day var you will see the transitions shift like they should for that Julian date for the part of the world the game is simulating. My mission is to fly, fight, and win. o-:|:-o What I do is sometimes get a tin of soup, heat it up, poach an egg in it, serve that with a pork pie sausage roll.
