Elefant1301 Posted February 9, 2019 Posted February 9, 2019 (edited) To avoid neglecting is not giving the priority. Taking into consideration is like putting a new variable into a string. I do agree though about the respect. It is the basis of good behaviour, good communication and...happiness. ;) Edited February 9, 2019 by Elefant1301

Hope to see you in sky enjoying the Tomcat.:pilotfly: "It's amazing, even at the Formula 1 level how many drivers still think the brakes are for slowing the car down."
mortalkombat Posted February 9, 2019 Author Posted February 9, 2019 Wow. This thread became really philosophical :)

Lt.Seahawk Posted February 9, 2019 Posted February 9, 2019 Absolutely agree. There's been quite some Videos/Pictures by Jabbers, Heatblur and others we all enjoyed a lot. DCS F-14 Tomcat Alley Discord Server: https://discord.gg/ceS859w

Not sure how much more beyond that we can go. Yup, I watched these footages and I truly thank the creators. They were all very entertaining and teased me a lot but I must admit (as a difficult customer :smilewink:) I expected to see more technical stuff(*) at a certain point of the module development. And yes, I dared to think it would have been possible to go more beyond all that has already be done (or differently). Now, I will patiently keep updating the forum page until the liberation. Two times the same CAP mission (from different perspectives). Three videos of the Phoenix. One Bombcat video. The stream should better not be mentioned. The amount of new content shown could be broken down to 1 hour for a complete month, which is pretty little even if the module is released on march 21st. Poeple are not asking for more hours of footage, they are asking for new content. Edited February 9, 2019 by mortalkombat

Poeple are not asking for more hours of footage, they are asking for new content. I remember reading somewhere, that the devs have chosen to not disclose too much content / details / features / etc, amongst several reasons, to avoid the typical gratuitous criticism replies on the technical aspects of the sim. (Either here, or at facebook, or wherever the sim is being reviewed.) So, although I surelly would enjoy to see more stuff, in part I also understand their position. mortalkombat Posted February 9, 2019 Author Posted February 9, 2019 (edited) Well, if you dont want to show new content show some action. Fast cut 4 minute cinematic videos of scenarios (deepstrike, intercept etc.) one per month. Something that keeps you excited (like the anytime baby video). But don't show the same things over and over again. After the first "first look" video I felt well informed. After the second bored. Watching the third made me think there is not much to see about this aircraft (even if this might not be the case). I know that horse is out the barn, but I just want to give some feedback to heatblur and explain why their marketing campaign has derailed the hypetrain for quite a few people. Victory205 Posted February 9, 2019 Posted February 9, 2019 You seem to want to be entertained by people working to get their product to market. Why? Fly Pretty, anyone can Fly Safe.
Nexus-6 Posted February 9, 2019 Posted February 9, 2019 Would you rather watch other people have fun, or would you prefer for them to focus on getting the Tomcat to us so we (you) can have it ourselves? Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk Can't pretend fly as well as you can.
mortalkombat Posted February 9, 2019 Author Posted February 9, 2019 You seem to want to be entertained by people working to get their product to market. Why? The whole product is dedicated to entertainment. I paid for entertainment and want to be entertained. If not by the product itself then by different content. It is part of the Experience and the developer should have interest in boosting peoples anticipation. Would you rather watch other people have fun, or would you prefer for them to focus on getting the Tomcat to us so we (you) can have it ourselves? Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk I would rather want to fly it sooner then later. That being said it would have been easy to lift the restriction of releasing new content or instead of releasing the same content over and over again get the content developers to release less but better/different content. If you can't show features tease them. The content so far has been quite boring both due to redundancy and lack of feature preview. Also I highly doubt the tomcat would be postponed by moths because everyone in their team is needed to produce a trailer.

Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk I just love this kind of "open-ended question"... Would you rather be rich and in good health or poor and sick ? I think it is quite objective to write that HB has been quite tight-fisted in terms of contents, specially now we are close to the release date. One could argue that it is a strategy to avoid gratuitous criticism but they will have to deal with that anyway after the release so what would be the point ? Anyway... HB is the only decision-maker and has certainly good reasons to do this way. This way of seeing things (that I will apply from now) is the only reasonable one. ;)

Heatblur has no need to waste time making videos for us to watch. Particularly since the module is already in the hands of multiple content creators, and there is little to be gained by showing us the same things all over again. The RIO cockpit is obviously not complete, or we would very possibly either have more to see, or have the F-14 ourselves. I want this airplane in my collection as much as anyone here, but badgering Heatblur for YouTube teasers will not get it to any of us any sooner. No it would not have gotten us the tomcat any sooner but it would have made the time waiting way more pleasant, which is frankly speaking more important to me. So far we have been teased heavy in late November/early December followed by a misirably long period of thisweek™ and soon™.

I can play this game too. And no, I won't criticize Heatblur until I have a reason to do so. The "tease" of November/December you're referring to was community-generated hype resulting from overly optimistic expectations. Heatblur was very clear from the beginning that the Tomcat's release made deliberately flexible to avoid a repetition of their 2017 announcement. If you want to see more content, just be patient. I have no doubt it's on the way. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk Can't pretend fly as well as you can.
mortalkombat Posted February 9, 2019 Author Posted February 9, 2019 (edited) Sure new content will come. At the latest after it's released. Also true that the community played it's part in generating hype, but so did Heatblur. Things were teased but not delivered. For example Heatblurs Tomcat Series of which only the Overview has been posted. I did as the video told me to and stood tuned, but they never held up to expectations (not only mine). I get that unforseen events can delay the output of new content. Nevertheless I have to say that the time waiting for the release has been (and is) a pain in the ass, mostly due to the lacking content (of every type). Edited February 9, 2019 by mortalkombat
Phantom88 Posted February 9, 2019 Posted February 9, 2019 To be honest,I don't want to see "Too Much" stuff posted for viewing before I can Expierience it myself....Some of the online early access reviewers have been very conscious of this and don't want to spoil that first time TomCat Flight for us....which is Super Cool of them I think. I know We're all Anxious to get this module on our PC's ....But hang in there Friends....I'm thinking Heatblur want us to really get our minds blown with this one and Do Not want to disappoint us. Hang On!!! Patrick

Flamin_Squirrel Posted February 9, 2019 Posted February 9, 2019 Ah, the good old, "if you're not with me, you're against me". I can play this game too. At no point did mortalkombat even hint that that was their view. Their point was it wasn't possible to criticise, however legitimate, without someone coming to the devs 'defence'. Your response has only served to prove their point.
SandMan23 Posted February 9, 2019 Posted February 9, 2019 For the people who want more content, don't worry. Cobra has already stated that they will post two new videos this week. "This week" Hmmm......now where have I heard that before?

Your response has only served to prove their point.Speaking of 'points', you obviously missed mine. I can't explain it any better than this, and I'm tired of repeating myself, so the following is the final time I wade into this discussion: Am I going to defend Heatblur? Yes, absolutely. I will continue to defend them until I see them do something they shouldn't. Any notion that they've somehow been remiss in their communications with us or, in some other way, delinquent in releasing content according to whatever imaginary schedule that someone made is not - SHOULD not - be their problem. Now, if you, or mortalkombat, or anyone else in the community wants to hold some kind of grudge because you feel they've failed to measure up to whatever expectations you've set for them, then that's your business. I'm not going to get bent out of shape until/unless spring arrives and I haven't yet received an F-14. Sent from my SM-G930F using Tapatalk Can't pretend fly as well as you can.
