VR/Non VR setup

New here, so please be kind

 

An annoying issue, which I know has been encountered elsewhere, but I have yet to find a solution that works for me:

 

1) I completely flattened my gaming machine (after having issues with Steam VR & DCS)

2) Installed DCS World - direct from developer, not Steam

3) Ran the program - worked perfectly (in non-VR mode)

4) Installed Thrustmaster HOTAS controls and pedals - still worked perfectly in non-VR mode

5) installed Oculus Rift

6) Now it will only start in VR mode and the games displays only the middle 1/3 of the monitor, not across the whole screen

7) I can toggle back into non-VR mode using a tick box in the "VR" DCS menu options, which reboots DCS back into non-VR mode, but have to navigate there using the goggles. When I then want to play VR mode again, I have to tick the box and it restarts DCS in VR mode.

 

Two problems I would like to resolve:

 

1) Is there a way to produce 2 shortcut keys on the desktop to start the program in VR an non VR mode (to avoid faffing in the DCS menu)? and

 

2) When in VR mode how can I enhance the spectators experience and get the display across the whole monitor for them while I am immersed in the Rift?

You might be able to create a batch file to edit the control lua file. One for VR one for 2D. I have thought about trying this before but have not gotten around to it yet.

1) I think you could use skatezilla launcher

2) press alt+enter to get full screen mirrored image

It is just a matter of creating two shortcuts on your desktop. I use this method and it works really well.

 

 

you coould always use Skatezillas tool which is great BTW.

Install the Oculus tray tool, which will allow you to open and close down the oculus service, thus meaning that you can stop it opening in VR mode by default.

 

Using alt-ent will use all of your screen, but in a stretched manner.

For persons next to your pc, there’s no great solution.

If you intend to stream, use OBS, which allows you to define the screen format to be screened. You’ll find some useful video tutorials on how to do it on YouTube

Yes Skatezilla's tool is awesome for launching DCS in VR or desktop mode.

Can't do anything about the image on the screen, it is your left eye image.

Simple solution. Use 2 DCS.exe program start icons, one for VR, one for NO VR. With rift installed DCS will automatically start in VR. To start not in VR open the Properties of the No VR icon and alter the Target line to read:

"your dcs install folder\bin\DCS.exe" --force_disable_VR
