Iraqi and serbian outdated MiG-29A's with at best, mediocre trained pilots? You can't compare those old buckets with 35, unless you're referring to the big picture, AWACS, logistics etc., but that's again completely different subject. I believe these latest MiGs wouldn't be as easy to kill as the ones almost 30 yrs old, to say the least.

Su-27's over eritrea against the same Mig-29A's missed dozens of shots in just a few engagements. It went down to R-73's. The Mig-35's are being sold to the same poorly trained mig operators, and those planes do not offer nothing that others made in Europe or US dont have already. Chances are Kill ratios wouldnt be much different now with these new versions just like F-16A Versus Mig-29A was 20 years ago. They were mostly hawling ass anyway, just take a look at the accounts. They werent hit but then so couldnt they do much while retreating in afterburner. SVK_Fox
When I talked with our mig-29 pilots about some bvr and close combats against other aircrafts like F-16 and hawks I heard som interesting but well known things. F-16 got advantage in BVR (our mig-29A early version got poor radar) but in close combat Migs got advantages. Also experiences of pilots are very important. Before few months some hawks pilots trained here against our pilots and as our pilots said - they were very dangerous and experienced with many and many hours in hawks. Mostly they were instructors on hawks in Britain, so best of the best. So you know what I mean. But MIG-29s engage them all - and reason? Power of RD-33. This information is for sure secret :) so pssssst. So, whitch plane is better? If you got well trained pilots, with powerfull jets and newest electronic, you are on the right way to say - my plane will win most of fights. But If you miss something (for exp.trained pilots) they could fail also on jets like Su-27SM or F-35.

Every single one that stood their ground were shot down, and Id like to remind you some occasions the teens were heavily outnumbered. That's a valid point. Kill ratio's as posted here say nothing of the circumstances that they were achieved at. 10 vs 50 will always end up in a poor kill ratio for those 10 (RIP), because they never will have time to employ a good tactic... kind regards, Raven.... True, but do u think they'd spend so much into developement of MiG-35 just to equip it with poor peforming A-A missiles? As for those R-27's, it's hard to believe they performed so badly against not so difficult opponent (we're talking MiG 29A here).
