Hey guys,

while we are making sure Corsair will shine in all its glory, the other team prepares to give wings to yet another amazing bird... You've heard the saying: "When you're out of F-8's - you’re out of fighters."

Yes, the Vought F-8 Crusader make your first flight on 1955, the LTV A-7 fly on 1965, ten years after. The good part, more carrier based aircrafts coming. Now need someone 3rd party build a A-3, A-4, A-5, S-2, S-3, and E-2 aircrafts and SH-2, SH-3 and SH-60 helos modules to complete the carrier air wing.

They look very similar as the A-7 was more or less developed starting from the F-8 to save costs.

Why a Chit-Chat thread? Why not use the already exisiting thread in the Magnitude sub forum where it belongs: https://forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=234339 ?

Because more people see it in a general forum?

How often were F-8s used for A2G? The bombs in the pic made me think it was an A-7 at first.

With some frequency. However, there were better options readily available so it was an uncommon measure.

Reformers hate him! This one weird trick found by a bush pilot will make gunfighter obsessed old farts angry at your multi-role carrier deck line up!

USMC used the Crusader as an A/G platform really often during Vietnam War, also in air defence supression role, armed with rockets mostly. I would recommend this book, with lots of info about missions, targets, loadouts... and is really interesting.
