Finding Bogeys with Oculus rift......

Hi Guys.

Has anyone found a way to improve one's ability to find bogeys when in VR?

I have an Oculus rift and find it VERY difficult to spot bogeys despite Jester's calls.

It's REALLY frustrating when the GIB/RIO is telling you you're right on his six when you can't freakin' see him. AT all!!

Any tips on improving the ability to spot far away small objects would be MUCH appreciated!:helpsmilie:

I went through 3 steps :

1) realize that after following Tacan, I'm not able to spot the tanker at close distance, searching him everywhere he's supposed to be, not seing it while it's the biggest air target I could have to spot.

2) use minimal "dot" labels to get back spotting functionnality (I can set distances, color blending for FOF, and opacity for transition between label spotting and 3dmodel spotting).

3) take advantage of it by tuning down settings that make spotting easier (visibility rendering radius), so I gain perf from this situation.

My way to be happy with it.

I solved it by getting an O+ for Christmas.

Well, can't speak for the O+, but when I got my Vive Pro (same res as O+) after having a Rift for some months, the difference was huge in terms of clarity. Those 70% more pixels really make a difference. However, you do need a fair bit of grunt in your system to push them around!

I tried out an O+ and yes the clarity is pretty nice, I could drop from PD 1.3 down to PD 1.0 and it still looked way better, instruments readable in the F-14 etc, and the PD drop helped with the performance.

I just found it quite uncomfortable, and the head tracking was pretty bad but my game room walls are quite bare. We have a local chap who rents out all the new headsets when he gets them in so going to try out the Rift S and Reverb each for a few days before committing to a change - but I NEED better VR res in my life!
