It would be much much more realistic if you add civilian casualties which is another way to add some ambient reality to simulation because it's happening always

would make Air to ground operations a bit more harder if turned on for example. I know DCS world is created to simulate weapons and vehicles (aircrafts, helicopters) but ambient life is just so simple that this game dont deserve

+ Civilians walk so calmly and drive it's cars whenever you drop bombs near them which is annoying

+ There should be animation that is connected between civilians and for example air raid sirens which would make civilians to run away from open areas and minimize it's presence at streets during attack what is realistic if you agree of course

+ Destroyed buildings and nearby spawn of fire trucks that will simulate firefighting animations

+ And of course after action report at the end of the mission "Civilian casualties"

Also Explosions

I see that it's still W.I.P but i would like to say something about that and suggest additional options to them

+ After explosion dust is too fast and quick i know it's because of performance but there should be in game option to increase that animation as much as your PC can handle as me

look at shock and awe iraq 2003 how does it look.

+ Now when we are at Iraq i dont know is it me or it's game itself but night bomb blast and light is off always is that implemented or it's not but when you see night explosion in game they look like you drop firecracker on ground you cant recognize what is happening down there night is dark but it shouldn't be as we saw how explosion looks at night during air raids first it should show a very bright light effect that would light up ground and objects at near or medium range 150-800m it's barely invisible no glow or anything close to that basically no lights when explosion happen please look at this atm it's prefect example what i meant you can see explosion glow and dust together now maybe you can understand what i am proposing

+ Cluster bombs effect is a bit too much dust and a bit different from reality looks like the bomblets goes salvo instead of being randomized due to it's weight and weather impact

Bombs like mk-20 rockeye and CBU-87 aren't wind corrected munitions and their impact is a little bit attached to weather so much

for example our cluster bombs in game are not randomized they are falling at salvo mode behind each other take look here

what happens when you drop CBU-87 for example

+ Another thing i would suggest is different exp. effect or similar but little bit different all explosions should be randomized at least 30% they shouldn't look same if you drop 4-5 Mk-82 on target they shouldn't animate same particle look but a little bit different base should be same i agree but their look should be little bit different

Thanks everyone i hope ED would implement this to game which would make it closer to reality i am not new here but i joined couple days ago first game i played is old good lock on modern air combat and after that i simply didn't played ED games at all still seeing same lack of some reality in game covering civilians and particle effects like explosion

Good thing ED added new explosions but they still miss a lot

HOPE OUR DEVS CAN INVEST BIT MORE TIME TO IMPROVE AMBIENT AROUND US! GAME WOULD BE MORE ATTRACTIVE TO NEW PLAYERS AND IT WOULD BRING BACK OLDER OR PLAYERS THAT LEFT GAME ALSO THE ONE WHO PREFER PLAYING SP. PERSONALLY I ALWAYS LOVED TO SEE NEW PLANES AND STUFF THAT I WILL BE ABLE TO BUY AND FLY IT (READ VEHICLES) BUT WITH TIME IT JUST BECOME AN USUAL DAY WITH FLYING BY DEFAULT THAT WONT LAST MORE THAN 1H BEFORE I REMEMBER MYSELF PLAYING THIS ALMOST WHOLE DAY (NOT HEALTHY BUT I LIKED IT) SO YES THANKS FOR THESE BEAUTIFUL MODULES YOU CREATED FOR US AND THANK YOU ALL FOR THIS BEAUTIFUL GAME IT REALLY HAS POTENTIAL FOR REMAINING AS ONLY MOST REALISTIC COMBAT SIMULATOR BUT PLEASE DO SOMETHING ABOUT THOSE "EXPLOSIONS LIGHTS, AMBIENT CIVILIANS...etc) Thanks again !

Update to wishlist:

+ Explosion spark effect visible here

+ Cruise missile explosion please make it a bit more larger because of it's warhead 1000 pounds (Tomahawk)

+ Fireball animation and huge blast on fuel storage

+ Destroyed building fire and smoke a new buildings and 3d destruction which means that building for example, house will have 2 or 3 parts it will not just fall down underground and spawn ruins (closer buildings to be destroyed between 80-90-100% others in radius to be destroyed around 45-75% rest damaged with simple fragment texture hit with similar base we have on our planes of course within the ordnance explosion radius.

Update to wishlist: (my wishlist is probably too large so i will try to stay on couple major wishes)

+ An suggestion to airweapons for USA (BLU-114/B Graphite bomb or Blackout bomb)

So what's that ?

A graphite bomb is intended to be a non-lethal weapon used to disable an electrical grid. The bomb works by spreading a dense cloud of extremely fine, chemically treated carbon filaments over air-insulated high voltage installations like transformers and power lines, causing short-circuits and subsequent disruption of the electricity supply in an area, a region or even an entire small country.

How it should work in DCS?

I had a imagination how it should work with current DCS system. For example you are flying your plane armed with Graphite bomb (cluster bomb) dropping your munition on (power lines, or electricity supply building Power plants (can be created and used via scripts on maps). it would shut down a lights in a town or small city.

For example it could reduce AI ground units ability to organize defense or attack

Also it can affect AI enemy mobility at area where the bomb had impact. (Not whole area but selected areas villages, town, cities..that would have one or two power plants also those power plants could have it's own areas where bomb should fall and after impact activate the script that would shut down lights and reduce AI soldiers pilots or airfields)

Where is the bomb used? (Operation Desert Storm(IRAQ), Operation Allied Force (Yugoslavia/Serbia)

No thanks.

Imagine the game did add in this capability.

You just know that a select few would not only take great pleasure in seeing who could rack up the most kills with an RN24 nuke, but would then upload to Facebook.

Imagine then that the media spot this, and picture the outcry:

“Ultra realistic game used to train terrorists on how to nuke cities”.

That really isn’t the headlines that DCS needs.

in a perfect world, this would be GREAT - but something tells me this would be a HARD performance hit as DCS already requires alot of juice.

Ehh... probably. Actually.... definitely. The only reason we can have AI traffic at all is because it's on rails.

It would be good to track ''collateral damage'' and penalise points, etc, similar to AARs in-rl. Btw, you ''think of the children'' types, civvies are already ingame and destructable, making them semi responsive to their environment would not destroy the moral integrity of society @@

Explosion effects? Yeah, this would also be cool, however based on past experience with ''lingering smoke'' this quickly becomes devastating to performance. Seriously, you waste a truck convoy and get to enjoy your 5fps for the next 45 minutes until they burn out, etc

Hi thanks for your opinion,

Yes maybe you are right about media, we had already similar thing with Arma 3 and Arma 2 which includes civilians arma 2 even included females. I dont see problem with that in DCS because it wont simulate civ. destruction that much, but rather add some animation and more advanced AAR, and mostly i suggested this for AIR-Ground operations only not ground forces

I voted No, not because the only thing I am interested is my cockpit but because it would use resources better used in simulating other stuff.

And usually the civilian population try to stay clear of combatants.

Also I don´t think we need to introduce the worst par of armed conflict to to our sim. And mission builders have tools to refrain the player from collateral damage by points or mission fail triggers.

We can tweak or change a little bit things in this thread but base would remain as it is!

The last one doesn't make sense to proposal which would include combat realism not casualties only but AI reactions to danger as well but alright! Also it's not about missions but AI overhaul mostly civilians

No introduction necessary, as destrictible civilians already exist, they're just braindead and make no effort to avoid anything aeound, happily plowing into burning wreckage like lemmings.

I use them for target practice as a constantly renewed source of moving objects. Pixels don't kill pixels, virpilots do!
